Some web-sites (major ones included) are writing, thinking and making predictions based on Kelse not playing Thursday that it changes everything, meaning its opening a door for the Lions. KC also has no Jones on the defensive side of things either. Sure these are great players, but great teams have the capability to adapt to circumstances that pop up. Im thinking Mahomes just adapts, improvises and others step up. No way do the super-hyped Lions go to KC and win that game. Im thinking that it might be fun for awhile, but the Chiefs got this one.

Agree yes the lions job got a little easier in that they don't have to figure out how to stop or slow down Kelce. On the other hand they now have to figure out what adjustment to the offense Reid and the Chiefs will make. I'm 100 percent sure they will have a plan on what to do without Kelce. Gray was drafted as the heir apparent to Kelce. No that doesn't make him Kelce but he is being groomed to be the guy eventually. Maybe on the road it's a bigger deal but the defending champs get the W and cover (IMHO).

    Food for thought . . .

Just about 80% of the population of the United States had not yet been born the last time the Browns won an NFL championship.

I was born in 1964 and that is the last year that the Browns won a championship.

I remember reading an article maybe a couple years ago(maybe more) about the correlation between fewer team practises during offseason/TC and an increase in soft tissue injuries by late offseason/PS/early regular season. The crux of the article being the point that players aren't getting their bodies in the same physical shape that they used to. Article touched on a number of ancillary points such as team structured practises potentially being more beneficial than players working out on their own. That fewer practises were the result of CBA structure that the players wanted, ironically meaning they are less prepared now physically for the rigours of NFL life. That one of the major drivers of this was to cut down on head injuries.

Prob worth noting that having players wear those soft hat things in practise is a big contributor to fewer head injuries. Possibly more so than fewer practises in of itself. I find it an interesting discussion point, should players be practising more? If you cmpare it to 15-20years i think organised practises are down by approx 25-40% which is a lot. Not THAT long ago 2 a days in TC were commonplace. Sure feels like there may be some correlation but that could just be perception.

Ok your call for the final result was wrong, but don't be too hard on yourself. As a mostly non gambler myself i dont know what the line was but the Chiefs totally should've won that game, maybe even covering. As you highlighted, it came down to Kelce's absence and where the targets went instead.

I highly doubt Sky Moore & Kadarius Toney get 8 targets between them if Kelce is out there. The result was 1 measly completion and a whole lot of awful.

Shout out to Toney in particular who almost singlehandedly lost this game. The pick6 couldn't have been an easier catch for Toney. It was the crossing drill at the combine. IF he picked up a FD there they have the ball in Lions territory with a chance at a 2 score 2nd half lead. It was a big moment.

The drop on 3rd & 2 would've given them 1st down at about the 11, tho Toney was put off a bit by Riche running the wrong route and going right across him as the ball was arriving. No such excuse on the last one tho when Toney dropped a very catchable deep ball that would've got them to at least the Lions 30 with 1st down at the 2min warning. I consider this one the worst of the lot just cos of the clock. You just can't drop a ball like that so late in the game.

Yep, all in all i'd say Kelce's absence was felt pretty hugely.

Once you see the "turning points" you will never un-see them. What you are watching is no different than watching WWE, except the WWE eventually admitted to choreographing its matches and story lines. the NFL is NO DIFFERENT. They already know who is winning the SB before this season began. You think the Rams winning the Super Bowl with its team colors the EXACT same as the Flag of a certain country being invaded was a coincidence? There are no coincidences.

Anyway, enjoy the show this year, there will be so many great moments to keep you interested :)

What the actual fuck would even be the purpose of arranging that?

A bunch of trillionaires sitting around a table drinking scotch and smoking cigars....and they decide it's probably time to start a war in Ukraine. And one of the guys says hey...you know what would be funny? An NFL team with the same colors winning the SB! And they all laugh and make it so.
