Looks like Dalvin Cook to the Jets.

 

He has a $7 million base salary, along with up to $1.6 million in incentives.

 

Yeah I just read that Dalvin Cook to the JETS it will be really interesting to see how Hall and Cook work this out is Cook going to come in and takeover

 

Browns defensive end Myles Garrett left for the training room about midway through Monday’s joint practice with the Eagles. He walked inside with athletic trainers.

The Browns announced only that Garrett has a foot injury.

Coach Kevin Stefanski will speak to reporters before Tuesday afternoon’s practice.

But Garrett returned to the field barefoot Monday to sign autographs and pose for pictures with fans.

Mary Kay Cabot of cleveland.com asked Garrett if he was OK, and he told her, “Silly stuff happens when you get old.”

Cornerback Denzel Ward left during 11-on-11 drills to be treated for an illness, and right tackle Jack Conklin was being evaluated for a concussion.

I think with the recent signings of Cook and Zeke, Jacobs better take the $10M with the Raiders or he's up the creek.

 

Yeah, they certainly didn’t help Jacob’s mini rebellion uprising… in fact, I think Cook just crushed it. Out of any of the free agents, he had the most clout.

At the end of the day, a man’s gotta eat.. he’s only made a little over $32M so far. How’s he going to live?

 

I forgot about Taylor, he needs to reconsider what he's doing also. He's hell bent on getting a contract and getting top dollar or he' wants out of Indy, Irsay still says for get about it.

I’m all about the RBs getting paid. If they decide trying to become a WR is a better option, it could water down the talent pool in college. But, at the end of the day they either need to accept the market or decide it isn’t worth playing a game for multiple millions per season.

Robert Smith left at the top of his game for the simple reason, he didn’t want to risk injuries as he was getting older after playing for 8 years. Or…maybe he’s just a quitter. He originally said it was to become a doctor, but he quit that also. He used his sports celebrity to cash in on writing a book about obsession with celebrity in sports. Now he’s just another former football player talking head on tv. I’m not sure in regards to the book if that makes him a hypocrite, a genius or an expert. He’s gotta fall under one of those categories.

 

Im in agreement. The Gm's and owners are claiming RB's are a 'dime a dozen' and maybe they are, but the elite, game changing, play multiple positions/downs types arnt, imo. A great RB not only runs well, but can catch coming out of the backfield... too me those types arnt a 'dime a dozen'.

The high risk factor to injuries has been mentioned... well, imo, that can be said for any position on the field. My understanding is the RB position actually entails more abuse, collisions and risk than any other, so the higher-ups appear to be using this against them (RB's) rather than paying them for their unheralded risky services, which too me is kind of like the higher-ups are shooting themselves in the foot. Not only is the RB position critical, necessary and prominent, it helps create a QB passing friendly atmosphere at the same time. RB's can block and protect the QB and fool defenses on play-action, its been an intricate part of the game since its inception. My point is... they RB position has all of a sudden become undervalued in comparison to the various other positions on the field. What good are the average Joe RB's going to bring to elite type offenses? Teams with elite QB's like KC, Buffalo and Cincinnati, throw in Herbert types too, are hoping/praying they can get a $15M dollar RB out of a good, but not elite specialist RB like Henry or Macaffrey... dream on, I say.

My quick fix idea at this moment is pay these guys, not just RB's, but the whole enchilada of NFL'ers based on production. I think the best way to go is highly incentive based contracts. If you look at the QB and WR positions, who are raking in money buy the truck loads, im sure you see a bunch that signed giant contracts and then didnt live up to the hype, underperformed, injured, or whatever. In an environment like we have today where everyone wants equality and fairness or the opposite types that want so much based on 'that other guy makes more than me', if everyone/position got a pay rate based on performance, it might eliminate whats going on today with undervaluation's happening. Also, pay-for-play, just might bring out the best of every player based on their desire to get paid more cash money?

I think the part that has been lost in the mix from team management is this.. you MUST OVER PAY the QB position.

teams that have elite QBs, by all means keep your elite QBs by paying them record contracts… there aren’t very many elite QBs. I’m talking about guys that are capable of throwing for 5,000 yards and 35 TDs. Or at the very least have consistently thrown for 4,000 yards and 30 TDs for multiple seasons. THOSE GIYS NEED PAID… everyone else, you are going to need help to win games. Stop over paying second tier guys in the hopes that they are the best shit burger you can pay. The teams that don’t have an elite guy needs to spend on defense, OLine and the best running back’s available. Shorten the game when your QB is only capable of 3,000 yards and 20 TDs.

That is where the RB market should thrive.

Unfortunately owners are so involved that they tell their GMs to get them a QB or they are fired. It’s a piss poor business plan.

 

Report: Mike Gesicki suffered dislocated shoulder, team hoping for Week 1 return

The Patriots may be without one of their key offensive players until the start of the regular season.

Per Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, tight end Mike Gesicki suffered a dislocated shoulder during Monday’s practice. The team is hoping that Gesicki can return for Week One, despite the injury to his AC joint.

Gesicki signed with New England on a one-year deal worth up to $9 million in March. He is expected to form a solid tight end tandem with Hunter Henry to improve a revamped Patriots offense under coordinator Bill O’Brien.

In 2022, Gesicki caught 32 passes for 362 yards with five touchdowns. It was a significant drop off in production from 2021, when Gesicki had 73 catches for 780 yards, though he had only two touchdowns.

Aside from Gesicki and Henry, the Patriots also have Anthony Firkser, Johnny Lumpkin, Matt Sokol, and Scotty Washington at tight end.

Monday, the New York Jets landed Dalvin Cook. Tuesday, another big-time piece of the backfield returned to the field.

Breece Hall has been activated off the physically unable to perform list, the Jets announced on Tuesday.

Hall is expected to be limited in his return as the Jets ramp up his workload, per NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero.

"We're gonna take our time with him like I've said from the beginning, but if you ask him he's ready to go now," Jets head coach Robert Saleh told reporters later on Tuesday, per Take Flight Media. "He's champing at the bit, he wants to get in there with his teammates, but to have him back out there in pads, man he looks freaking good. Just his size, like Jermaine Johnson he's morphed his body. He looks explosive, he looks powerful, so we'll get him in, we'll ease him in, but right now it's just acclimation."

Saleh added that he is "very confident" Hall will be ready for the regular-season opener against the Bills on Sept. 11, per ESPN.com.

Hall echoed his coach when speaking to the media on Tuesday, stating that he believes he'll be ready for Week 1, per SNY.

The 2022 second-round pick got off to a hot start in his rookie campaign before suffering an ACL tear in Week 7. A dual threat, Hall rushed for 463 yards and four touchdowns on 80 carries and added 19 catches for 218 yards and another TD.

Hall averaged 97.3 scrimmage yards per game as a rookie. His 5.8 YPC and 6.9 yards per touch in 2022 were both the second-highest by a rookie since 1970 behind only Bo Jackson in 1987 (minimum 10 carries per game and three games played as a rookie).

If healthy, Hall brings a home-run threat to the Jets backfield and a dynamite outlet for Aaron Rodgers.

Monday's signing of Cook takes the pressure off the Jets from pushing Hall back quickly from his ACL tear. Gang Green now has the luxury of curtailing the second-year back's early season work.

"Very excited to add a really really good football player to this team," Saleh said on Tuesday, per Take Flight Media. "[Cook] adds another dynamic to this group that I think anybody would be excited about."

Saleh added that he does not have a timetable for when Cook will practice and that his presence on the roster doesn't change the plan for working Hall back into the rotation.

Hall coming off the PUP list before the second preseason game is a great sign, but the Jets can take it slow with his process. We've seen many running backs take time to get up to full speed following knee injuries -- Saquon Barkley and J.K. Dobbins in recent seasons come to mind. The Jets don't have to force the issue with Cook now in the building.

When Cook and Hall are healthy, Gang Green will boast a dynamic dual-threat backfield as the Jets push for a deep playoff run in Rodgers' first season in New York.

Ok L4SN people. If a healthy Hall and Cook share the backfield in Jetsville, name a better duo in the NFL.

 

It's pretty explosive ìf Ɓreece Hall is healthy and ready to go who's going to be the main man.....just like it was in Minnesota Dalvin Cook was the main man and then was Alexander Mattison just wondering will it be the same way with the JETS Dalvin Cook as the main man and then Breece Hall but looks like a pretty dynamic backfield to me

 

I'm obviously biased, but I'll throw Bijan Robinson and Tyler Allgeier out there as contenders for that title. Add Cordarrelle Patterson to the mix and it's a potent trio.

I was waiting for you on that question, lol. It was baited. Falcons are clearly, imo, stacked as far as ball carriers go.

 

Joel Bitonio: Eagles took cheap shots at Deshaun Watson in joint practice

Browns left guard Joel Bitonio was not happy with players on the Eagles following Tuesday’s joint practice, accusing them of “cheap shots.”

Specifically, Bitonio accused Eagles defensive end Josh Sweat of knocking the ball out of the hand of Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson, a no-no in practice, when quarterbacks are not to be touched.

“You’re not supposed to that,” Bitonio said, via Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com.

Bitonio said quarterbacks are supposed to be off-limits on the practice field.

“I mean it’s just in our practice, you protect the quarterback,” he said. “You don’t want to come close to the quarterback, you don’t want to take cheap shots, things like that where there might’ve been a couple of questionable plays both ways today.”

Tuesday was the second of two joint practices between the Eagles and Browns, and Bitonio said it’s good they’re not doing three days of practice.

“Oh yeah,” he said. “I mean that’s why you do two days because three days it’d be a blood bath the last day, so even two days gets a little bit chippy the second day. You go back, you watch the film, you’re like, oh, we’ve got to do this better, or they got to do this better, and the next day’s going to be a little bit more ramped up.”

The Eagles and Browns will meet for a preseason game on Thursday night.
