Let's see if I have this straight. Practice Squad can only be added to before the season starts. They aren't locked in but no one else can replace them. And if you are a fool that signed Nnamdi Asomugha for 3 years then the 2nd season you can put him on PS if you wish and cut him after 30 days and save his 3rd year salary from the books. But doing so has the effect of losing a promotion spot from the taxi. Also anybody you cut to make room for someone on the taxi is gonna give you a cap penalty hit.

You will have 5 roster spots designated for the practice squad.
These players must be kept in the TAXI spot (to remain eligible for 30 day cut relief)
All 5 spots are not required to be filled


Any player listed as a practice squad player may be called up at anytime to the active roster


If a player has been on the practice squad for a minimum of 30 calendar days, he may be cut at anytime without incurring any dead cap penalty

No, because you can call a player up or add a player to the squad anytime you like.

They only have to be kept in that spot if you are working towards having them in their for the 30 day period.
