Yeah, I knew all of that.. I just didn’t know if I start the draft on my Wi-Fi at home, if I can log out and back on with my phone on cell service. I’m assuming we can, but I just didn’t want to be locked out after the draft starts officially.

 

I've had the internet drop out in a draft, had to close everything out, reset the modem and be able to log back in.

 

I still don't understand the part about drafting rookies, this year and in future years and how contracts are determined for them exactly.

 

The rules I read said first 6 rookies do not count against 6 3yr contract and 12 2yr contract limits. Am I missing something?

 

No, I think you are correct.. other than rookies can’t have more than a 2 year contract. If they were picked in the first 3 rounds of the real draft, they get a 2 year contract, rounds 4-7 from the real draft are 1 year contracts. But those first THREE rookies do not count against the (12) 2 year contracts we are allotted. If you pick more than 3 rookies in this draft that were drafted in the first 3 rounds of the real draft, all subsequent picks after your first 3 from the first three rounds of the real draft will count against your 12 allotted 2 year contracts automatically.

We don't hard cap certain positions in these leagues so that owners in a rebuilding situation, or in a situation where injury/poor play subjects them to being possibly non-competitive, they still have a chance to reform, rebuild and keep working towards building their roster.

 

Thanks, but shouldn't QB be capped in a 12 team league? Not sure anyone is taking like 5 QB's but they could.

 

Per the rules book:

Any rookie player selected in the initial draft will default to the rookie pay scale and contract length of the corresponding round that player was selected in the NFL draft


The first 3 rookies that each owner drafts that have two year contracts will retain those contracts exempt from the total allowable two year designations (12). All rookies drafted after that will receive one year deals at the same premium they would originally receive

 

We don't limit/cap either of our 12 team, 1 quarterback dynasty leagues and there will be no player cap on this contract league.

Also, there is zero chance I would make any significant rules change less than two hours before the draft starts.

 

I just wanted to make sure about position limits.

Since this is new, I wanted to make sure I adjusted for the "anything can hapoen" scenerio.

I can dig it.

Being that you haven't been involved in any of our other leagues, it may seem strange that there are no rules forcing owners into a certain framework.

But if you ask any of the guys that have participated in the near decade long leagues we have here, I'm confident they would tell you that they are some of the more competitive and fairly balanced leagues they are active in.

The contract aspect is new for all of us, but I'm pretty fucking amped to see how it all comes together.

 

Honestly, I am to! I'm not the type of person who likes not knowing and that's where I'm at now. So I always try to look at every nook and cranny to make sure I have a grasp of what's going on.

On paper this league looks fantastic, I'm just not sure my draft strategy is going to gel like I'm used to.

 

Your draft is going to get clarity on how it's shaping up about 5 picks before mine. lol

I'm sure you have contingencies, backups and parachute chords to pull, if needed.

See I'm still confused. Are you saying that it's just their NFL contract and even upto 4 years for rookies drafted now and then starting next year it's 2 years for the first 3 and 1 for each after the first 3.
That's how I'm reading it.

If you go off of the contract sheet that is in the second post (scroll to the bottom), you'll see what the groupings are for contract length when we acquire rookies (FAs) in the offseason.

That scale will apply here, only it will be based off of actual NFL draft position.

If you draft a player in this draft that qualifies as a 2 year contract, that will automatically apply here for the first 3 players eligible without going against the 12 max for 2 year assigned contracts.

Every rookie after that gets placed on a 1 year deal.
