I'm so glad the Vikings did not trade up it would have cost them to much IMO now the other 3 I have to agree confusion reigns as usual for the Vikings
Im not a huge fan of Bryce Young and even if they could have traded up (not even possible), it would have cost waaaaaaaaay too much in the first place. Im really hoping Hall pans out in the not to distant future and he's 25 yo like Hooker too, but nobodies bitching about that, lol. Hall finished his career with a near 5:1 touchdown: interception ratio, not too bad at all. The offense that Hall played in at BYU was very similar to the offense that Kevin O’Connell runs in Minnesota. It’s one of the reasons that makes him a really good scheme fit. - "Having that in his back pocket will make his transition to the NFL that much easier because he’s run so many pro concepts. At BYU, they asked him to operate the offense at an NFL level and he did so in droves. He would make difficult throws in multiple situations." Hall has been reported to have a cannon of an arm also and not just a cannon, but the ability to drop the ball in a bucket... he's got real good touch. I didnt even mention till now, Jaren can run too. When forced out of the pocket he is not hesitant to attack down-field, the Cougars even had set runs and draws for him and he showed good ability to run or if that window closed he could improvise on the fly and hit an open wide receiver. He's got all the tools, in my opinion... strong arm, accuracy, touch and the ability to run and he is a leader type on the field. My point is this, the Vikings may have their future guy in Hall and he was a 5th rounder so he came cheap so to speak. It wasnt necessary to pay a Kings ransom to get a good prospect. Im pleased with him already and Kirk will be a fine mentor also...
When the question for Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell focused on the future of receiver Justin Jefferson, there was no equivocation. As to running back Dalvin Cook, the situation continues to be a bit murkier. During Thursday’s visit to #PFTPM, O’Connell specifically was asked about Cook’s unsettled contract situation. “I tend to let [G.M.] Kwesi [Adofo-Mensah] and [executive V.P. of football operations] Rob [Brzezinski] work through things, you know, contractually or whatever may be there,” O’Connell said. “I can just tell you what Dalvin meant to me, not only in year one as one of our core leaders of our team, but also just the impact he had on the field. “His consistency, his toughness, durability, playing through some different things, and consistently being out there for us in critical moments and just some of the huge plays that he made right alongside Kirk [Cousins] and Justin [Jefferson] and the rest of our offensive players, really will never be lost on me. “But we want what’s best for Dalvin and Dalvin knows that, and we continue to work through you know that situation knowing that the respect that the Minnesota Vikings and our organization have for Dalvin has been earned, but it’s more than that. We care about obviously the player and ultimately, he’s under contract and very much something that you know I don’t take for granted having had Dalvin Cook on this team and what that’s meant to me as a coach here in year one. We’ll see where things go here the rest of the offseason. They’re still you know working through some things, and I’m sure we’ll come to a great resolution. And if that means Dalvin Cook is still playing running back for the Vikings, that’s something that will be a really good thing for me as the head coach and play caller.” Obviously, the situation remains in flux. Cook has a salary of $10.4 million in 2023, $2 million of which is fully guaranteed and subject to offset. PFT
That was a beautiful TD pass I have no idea how the Dalvin Cook thing works out ì'm also very glad they didn't
The schedule looks like a rough ride for the Vikings time to tie your shoes tight get your mouth guard and make your chin strap tight this will not be easy
You know that's what I thought it was really about cap relief this guy they got from the Saints in the Offseason better be Good!
I just don't get it some of these podcasts for the Vikings are really negative sometimes listening to them makes you wonder are they really Vikings fans or not if you have opinion fine share it not all podcasts are but the ones are a trip....or am I being overly sensitive here
No, your not too sensitive. The vast majority of all the podcasts, youtube shows and other Vikings media is mostly whiny bitches AND they know it all, lol. I'll admit im aways trying to be positive and a glass half-full kinda guy and to hear all the doomsday, negative stuff is very tiring... I just tune away. They do what they do, I do what I do. A lot of the stuff out there is defeating their own purpose of gaining fans, it just turns me off.
Kirk Cousins' record against all 14 2023 opponents The Minnesota Vikings have an interesting schedule in 2023. They have five prime-time games in 2023 and are playing a first-place schedule with games against the Philadelphia Eagles, San Francisco 49ers and Cincinnati Bengals to make things more difficult. Across all of the teams in the National Football League, quarterback Kirk Cousins has seen varying levels of success against the Vikings’ opponents in 2023. Here is how Cousins has fared against each team on the Vikings’ schedule. Tampa Bay Buccaneers Record: 1-1 Philadelphia Eagles Record: 6-4 Los Angeles Chargers Record: 2-1 Carolina Panthers Record: 2-2 Kansas City Chiefs Record: 0-3 Chicago Bears Record: 7-4 San Francisco 49ers Record: 2-1 Green Bay Packers Record: 5-4-1 Atlanta Falcons Record: 1-4 New Orleans Saints Record: 2-3 Denver Broncos Record: 2-1 Las Vegas Raiders Record: 2-0 Cincinnati Bengals Record: 0-1-1 Detroit Lions Record: 8-3 VIKINGSWIRE
What's surprising to me is the 2-2 record against the Panthers and the 2-1 against the Chargers and the Cincinnati Bengals 0-1-1 which I think Vikings played more than good enough to win,and if the Vikings really want to do right by Dalvin Cook send him to KC so he can get a ring IMO he deserves it
When it comes to Cook, throw in Zeke also. Those 2 should make good fits on a few teams. Top landing spots for Cook might be Dallas, Miami and Buffalo, especially Buffalo. Bills need to solidify the back-field... they have 4 RB's on the roster now, but none seem to jump out and grab you, but i do like Latavius Murray and every team needs two horses in the back-field. Chiefs arnt a bad fit for either Cook or Zeke, imo. The Bears might wanna kick the tires on Zeke and they have the Cap Space available also. The Bengals need an RB like Zeke also. One never knows whats going on with Mixon. Chargers and Broncos also come to mind in the RB needs department and neither of those 2 teams drafted a RB in this tears Draft, so they might land up forking out some cashola for either Cook or Zeke. Its going to be interesting to see where either of these guys land, but they wont be able to line their pockets in todays NFL.
Do the Vikings Have a Top-10 Offense Heading Into 2023? National analysts are skeptical of the Vikings' offense ranking among the league's best. How you view the Vikings' 2022 offense depends on what metrics you look at. The surface stats say Kevin O'Connell's group was a top-ten unit; they ranked seventh in yards per game and eighth in points per game. Efficiency-wise, they weren't as strong, ranking 20th in offensive DVOA and 18th in EPA per play. Both of those figures were weighed down by one of the league's least efficient running games. There are several reasons to believe the Vikings' offense will be better in 2023. The most obvious is that everyone should be more comfortable in year two of O'Connell's system, from Kirk Cousins to the offensive line to O'Connell himself as a play-caller. The two big additions are first-round wide receiver Jordan Addison — who projects as an immediate upgrade from the aging Adam Thielen — and superb blocking tight end Josh Oliver. Addison is obviously the flashier of those two additions, but don't discount the importance of Oliver's presence in making the Vikings' running game more productive on a down-to-down basis. It remains likely that Dalvin Cook will eventually be traded or released, but that may be addition by subtraction considering Cook was one of the least effective running backs in the NFL last season. A committee of Alexander Mattison, Ty Chandler, and rookie DeWayne McBride, with improved blocking in front of them, could be more than enough to clear the very low bar of last season's rushing efficiency. If the running game improves slightly, that can only help the Vikings' passing game continue to be explosive. Cousins is back for another year; this will be his first time operating under the same play-caller for a second consecutive season since he signed with the Vikings five years ago. Justin Jefferson has a very strong case as the best wide receiver in football, T.J. Hockenson was a perfect fit in the offense following last year's midseason trade, and the complementary pass-catchers — Addison, K.J. Osborn, Oliver — are strong as well. Addison, the 2021 Biletnikoff winner, is a natural route-runner who the Vikings expect to thrive against single coverage. On the offensive line, the Vikings have an elite tackle duo in Christian Darrisaw and Brian O'Neill, but pass protection is a significant concern with the interior trio of Ezra Cleveland, Garrett Bradbury, and Ed Ingram. Minnesota is hoping Ingram takes a year two leap after leading the NFL in pressures allowed as a rookie. Based on that context, one can talk themself into the Vikings having a top-ten offense. Then again, Cousins is probably somewhere in the 11-15 rank among quarterbacks, Addison is unproven in the NFL, and questions remain about the running game and interior pass blocking. So there's a case to be made for skepticism about the Vikings' offense, too. Two recent national analysts placed O'Connell's unit just outside of the top ten. Both Pro Football Network's Arif Hasan and Bleacher Report's Alex Ballentine have the Vikings at exactly 12th in their ranking of every team's offense. Hasan: Losing Adam Thielen hurts, but the model considers Jordan Addison an upgrade. The Vikings did not improve their pass protection, but they have an elite pair of tackles and a functional interior. Importantly, the combination of Kirk Cousins and Justin Jefferson should help the offense compete for a top-10 rank, even if they do end up losing Dalvin Cook. Ballentine: Barring any major moves from here until Week 1, the Vikings are mostly bringing back the same offense that was 18th in EPA but eighth in scoring. It was one of the biggest gulfs between the two metrics in the league last season. Essentially, they'll be swapping out Irv Smith Jr. as their second tight end for Josh Oliver. The latter is a better fit. With T.J. Hockenson taking over as the primary pass-catching tight end, Oliver makes sense as a blocking specialist. Replacing Adam Thielen with Jordan Addison gives them a little more juice. Thielen's production has declined in each of the last two seasons, and Addison is an explosive rookie receiver who could thrive right away across from Justin Jefferson. The result is an offense that might only be marginally improved from last year's. They get some points for continuity, but it's hard to see them being much more than they were last season, and this ranking generally splits the difference between their scoring offense and EPA per play. The Vikings' defense was one of the league's worst last season, and even though it will likely improve somewhat under new coordinator Brian Flores, the offense's efficiency will need to take a leap forward if this team is going to defend its NFC North crown. Inside The Vikings; FAN NATION
The Buffalo Bills is interesting cause they need a running game bad, not Josh Allen and Dalvin Cook tò the Bills is intriguing
The Vikings had a chance to get I think to get Garrett Bradbury replacement the outstanding center from the Minnesota Golden Gophers still pissed off the center is the O-line QB
Yes they have a top ten Offense last year it was the defense that let them down too many close games and more and more I'm loving the Jordan Addison pick I mean there's no PRESSURE on him cause he doesn't have to be Mister Everything he can only work on his game to get better
