We'll see who they take. They only moved down 15 spots. If their target (or the equivalent) is likely to be there after 15 more picks, it was a fantastic trade on Minnesota's part.
Vikings are just letting all the BPA get picked by everyone else... I sure hope they have something planned, because Im concerned with so many needs why they arnt moving up instead of down.
If they believe they’re rebuilding, then need those extra picks. Gives them ammo for either an extra pick next year or trade capital to move up for someone they love next time
@RTTRUTH - would YOU have used a 4th and a future 5th for Chamarri Conner? I'm having a hard time grasping that one.
No. But KC has earned benefit of the doubt for now. Edit: I also thought he was a Safety. So not sure from any angle what they want there.
From Minnesota's end, it's simply a value move. They didn't give up their 4th - they just moved down 15 spots. I'm hard pressed to think they're missing out on anything huge, and I suspect next year's 5th round draft class will be a huge upgrade over this year's 5th round draft class. Probably better than this year's 4th round class, for that matter.
NFL-N just had a great explanation of that a moment ago. Daniel Jeremiah explained that he had actually been in the chair before at the draft table where they call and confirm the info on the cards before handing the card off to be announced. They check with the team, and it's the position where the team projects the player. So KC thinks Conner is a CB. (edit - somehow this came out as a reply to Willie rather than RT. Sorry for that mixup.)
I had a mid third round grade for him. IMO worth giving up what is likely a late 3rd next year for him.
Cameron Young, NT, goes to the Seahawks. I believe I drafted him in the mock, but I already burned my papers.
A thought I find creeping into my head a TON this year; How much do the warrooms know about other teams targets and intentions?? I mean scouts, coaches, etc. move around so much in league circles. Do scouts almost work as spies a bit in the background with friends they've made over the years? I mean with the way we value some of these players after several mocks, when a team like KC targets Chamarri Conner in the 4th round (we didn't even draft him in the mock, and he's projected 6th-UDFA everywhere), do other teams see that coming at all? Or is it an absolute surprise? When a team like Minnesota trades back 15 spots for a pick next year, is it because they value like 5+ guys equally now and feel they'll get one, because they think they KNOW 5-6 of the players who will go between where they were and where they moved to and won't miss much? Or a combination of both? Or just pure "we'd like an extra pick, let's move back and hope for the best." I just find myself wondering more than ever how much the teams know about each other's intentions. It's one thing to be predictive in the top 40 picks. But the valuations on players from about pick 75 back, just weird to me. Are the teams as shocked as I am? Or are their "experts" in the know on some of these moves? Wish I knew.
Great thoughts/questions. I wonder to if they arnt in communications with other GM's when it doesnt effect their personal strategies. I cant see these GM's flying blind or betting on a hunch.
We had him graded roughly the same then. That's encouraging for me, because I'm normally not so good at film/scouting.
