If the jets get off to a bad start and it's because Rodgers doesn't play well he won't be able to handle the pressure of the New York media.
Or his own ego. I truly believe if he gets banged around and under-performs, HE will be his own worst night-mare on top of the scrutiny he's going to face. I cant wait!!!
During his introductory press conference as a member of the Jets on Wednesday afternoon, quarterback Aaron Rodgers deflected a question about playing beyond 2023 by saying he was “just going to focus on this season.” Rodgers gave a different answer to that question a short time later. Rodgers met with beat reporters after the press conference came to an end and suggested that he’s viewing his time with the Jets lasting longer than just the 2023 season. “This isn’t a one-and-done in my mind. This is a commitment,” Rodgers said, via Zack Rosenblatt of TheAthletic.com. In part; PFT _________ ___________________ Can you say, Wishy washy? Sure, I knew you could.
And yet part of the reason Rodgers wants NY is because of his ego. "Look at me". Very wealthy. Dating models and actresses. Greasy mullet. Self absorbed. He wants the spotlight? He's got it. Careful what you wish for....
Name, image and likeness rules has opened the door for collegiate athletes to potentially earn millions of dollars. But highly touted Texas Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning is apparently not interested in generating any revenue from NIL deals — at least for the time being. According to Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian, Manning has opted against signing any NIL deal because he is not the team's starting quarterback. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Move over Aaron. You have competition. And I liked the Manning clan too. 'Til now!!
Unlike a lot of other students Arch comes from a wealthy family money is not a need for him like it is most of them.
My confusion is from @SoCalSaint saying "Move over Aaron. You have competition. And I liked the Manning clan too. 'Til now!!" You have a freshman college player, ANY player that would opt not to take the contract money is refreshing, but Manning could actually benefit from the money and is choosing not to. What ever reason that is... I am confused how THAT would turn someone against the Manning family, when they previously liked them? Makes no sense. I could understand judging him if he took the money, despite not being the starter and he obviously doesn't "need" the money. But to judge him because he DIDN'T take the money, that is what I don't understand. It has nothing to do with Aaron Rodgers.
Ah makes sense. My only guess is how your read that he isn't taking it because he's not the starter. Personally I read it as Arch doesn't think he deserves it because he is not the starter. I suppose someone could see it as him throwing shad with the I'm not the starter comment.
I took it to mean that if he wasn't the starter," keep your money, I'll go elsewhere." Maybe I read too much into it. Not the first time that's happened on these boards.
Lamar Jackson, Ravens agree to terms on five-year deal At long last, the deal is done. $260M Lamar Jackson has agreed to terms on a contract with the Ravens through 2027, the team announced on Thursday. “You know for the last few months there’s been a lot of he say, she say. A lot of nail biting, a lot of head scratching going on,” Jackson said in a video posted on the Ravens’ social media account. “But for the next five years, there’s a lot of Flock going on. Let’s go, baby. Let’s go. Let’s go, man. Can’t wait to get there. Can’t wait to be there. Can’t wait to light up M&T for the next five years. Let’s get it.” While the money has not been disclosed, PFT reported earlier on Thursday that the deal will have a “traditional” quarterback structure. That means he is not expected to have a fully-guaranteed contract like Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson. Instead, his numbers will likely be more in line with the deal Jalen Hurts recently signed with the Eagles. The agreement brings to an end a process that started years ago and keeps the quarterback with Baltimore for the foreseeable future. The club had used the non-exclusive franchise tag to guarantee it would have at least a chance of matching any offer sheet Jackson reached with another team. But Jackson did not receive much — if any — interest. The Ravens drafted Jackson with the 32nd overall pick in the 2018 draft — trading back into the first round to do so. Jackson took over as the club’s starting quarterback midway through his rookie season and proceeded to become the league MVP in 2019. He led the league with 36 passing touchdowns that season while also rushing for 1,206 yards and seven TDs. In his 70 games with 61 starts, Jackson has completed 64 percent of his passes for 12,209 yards with 101 touchdowns and 38 picks. He’s rushed for 4,437 yards with 24 touchdowns, twice going over 1,000 yards rushing in a season. PFT
I know Jackson is an upper tier QB but I don't think he will grow beyond what he is now. It seems he's already declined a bit and has become somewhat injury prone. I understand the concept of the dual threat QB but I just see him as a great runner and a marginal passer. At some point in any year a QB will have to make that great play through the air to win play-off games in route to a championship and I never see Jackson doing that. Overall, he's not the guy I'd want.
