If this report is true and factual, Lamar is truly a nut job (takes one to know one). First; He doesnt call the shots, period... Second; whats he saying about his mates already on the team? Lamar must be thinking he has the Ravens by the balls and they will comply with all his demands. Id like to see the Ravens tell him to jump in a lake.
Hopkins and Beckham are two head cases plus Jackson and you have the ticket for disaster. It’ll be nice watching them finish in last place with the three stooges running their offense.
No trade clause makes sense. Holding onto him until the age 30 season, but likely have to renegotiate in the 4th year. Need to see some contract details, but I'm guessing a lot of the guarantees come through playing time (games available) and it probably has an out starting in the 4th year that's team friendly (in case of injury or regression). On the surface - It's a win for the Eagles as Jalen gets to be the highest paid ever for a couple months, they lock him up for what is likely his best window (style of play) and it solidifies the offensive direction for at least 4 years. The next question to be answered will be whether or not the receiving group (Brown/Smith/Goedert) will want to stay on or look for a big payday on the market if another deep playoff run doesn't happen over the next two years. Brown could look to force himself out as early as 2026 (FA in 27), Smith is an FA in 25 and Goedert will be in 26. The Eagles have been pretty solid drafting so the above concerns will only be as bad as the front office's backup plan if they can't come to terms with the players before they potentially hit the market. All in all, Philly has set themselves up to be the dominant team in the East and contender for the NFC Championship for the foreseeable future.
I find it amazing and kind of a cool relief that Roseman and Hurts agent, Nicole Lynn got this done quick and without any controversy or dramatic stuff. I havnt heard a word about Hurts wanting the bank, but they gave it too him.
Hurts' deal has $179.304 million in total guarantees, including $110 million fully guaranteed at signing and $126.5 million fully guaranteed by March 2024... The Eagles QB can earn an additional $15 million in incentives, giving him an opportunity to make as much as $274.304 million through 2028, including $4.304 million that he would've been due in the last year of his original rookie contract this season.
Lamar’s got to be freaking out. But Hurts has done something that Lamar can’t accomplish. Go to a Super Bowl.
Pretty much my take. It's a lot of money but the Eagles do have cap flexibility, just has to be for pieces they need so it doesn't blow up when they keep passing the buck.
And all it took was perhaps one of the most complete rosters in the entire NFL. As much as I hate the Eagles Roseman does a hell of a job building that team and manipulating their cap. You know how much it hurt watching a freaking caveman like Dave Gettleman run the Giants while I looked at Howie was doing for a rival...
Tag that will last about, what, 90 days? At most? lol I'm starting to lean towards Hendon Hooker being the pick for the Vikings. You on board with that?
I'm feeling they might want to go DLine but Skoronski or Johnson are solid picks as well. I literally have no idea which way they are going. A lot of people want a DB but unless the team falls in love with one of them on an individual basis I just don't see it. They might even go RB if they want to for a championship push but man going 1st round WR would be a bit weird considering there are arguably 2 #1s on the team. Cap may be an issue later but it would feel like short and long term there are better investments on that pick.
I was going to ask you earlier, but got called away to get some work done, but whom do you have in mind as getting a bigger contract soon?
Joey Porter feels like a pick they would make, which is why I have PIT jumping up to ATL's spot to get him. If Skoronski somehow makes it to PHI, it feels like the kind of pick that answers multiple questions across the OL in the immediate and a long term solution at one position within two seasons. I get the DL thinking though. Hard to pass on quality talent up front at that side of the ball, if it's available.
Hell yes I am... and he can learn from Cousins for a year and that suits me fine. Some twitt on twitter gave me grief on that idea, because he thinks Cousins is a no good bum, well I disagree and think Kirk may be a better tutor than a 'primetime QB', lets hope so, right? Heard the Vikings are really doing their homework on Hooker also... talking to him, family and friend, teammates and coaches. Sounds like their very interested. One thing thats a mystery is will the Vikings decide that a QB of the future is their 1st rounder or do they go with another of their many glaring holes to fill. I would love to have Hooker drafted ASAP... I think its a priority.
