No, not from what I've seen from Pickett up to this point. But if gives them GREAT QB play I believe they can compete with those teams, yes. They have enough pieces in place.

And as I said, most teams can compete with great QB play.

I think we will know more with a better OL that Weidl is building and hope #8 makes a step forward. Trubisky has reached his ceiling he’s prone to misreads and telegraphing his throws. But #10 does throw a nice deep ball.

I’m looking for a draft like this for the first three picks now that the Steelers signed a DT and Safety.

    Joey Porter Jr
    Darnell Washington
    Kelee Ringo
If we get those players I would be ecstatic.

That DT Brieden Feheko is a run plugger, I don't get the Mazi Smith crush everyone seems to have. 6 TFL in his career at Michigan. He is top of Bruce Feldman's Freak list, but it doesn't translate to the field. Give me Karl Brooks, even though it was in the MAC, his production numbers are insane. He practiced well at the Senior Bowl, tested well at his pro day, he checks a lot of boxes. With that being said, I still think at 17, 32, and 49 DL is in play. Short list: Brian Breese, Gervin Dexter, Keanu Benton, Miles Murphy, Lucas VanNess. I am kicking out Jalen Carter, some team will gamble on him long before Pittsburgh picks. Early on I was high on Tuli Tuipiloto, but at 6-3 266 lbs. he is an OLB not a 5 technique. I think Ringo will slide, not sure he gets to 49. I think the CB who can slide to 49 is Cam Smith, that would be interesting. I do have him rated ahead of JuJu Brents. Next up is the Bro crush on Brian Branch. Ok at 32 maybe, but hell no to a slot CB at 17. Tomlin loves his Maryland guys so I would imagine that Deonte Banks is a possibility depending on how the board falls on draft day. What if all 3 top OT and CB are gone. Do you go OT4 or CB4. At that point I think the value is in Darnell Wright because at 32 there will still be CB's left. The teams drafting in the later part of round 1 have less needs, but will look to build the trenches.

The greatest part of this year's draft is The Whole Lamar Jackson saga. He is going to set the Ravens back. Seriously doubt some other team gives up that much draft capital and a guaranteed contract of a guy who has missed 10 of his last 22 starts. To top it off they don't have shit for draft picks either and their whole offense is a RPO. Some pundits are saying how he is only 26, but look at the longevity of an NFL RB you have to lay that card on the table. I can only hope no trade or offer comes in by draft day, screw the RatBirds they are reaping what they sewed.

The reason I want CBs is that I think our defense can be number one in the league if they could cover anything.

  8. Willie Head Coach Manager News & Notes Vikings

Penn State cornerback Joey Porter Jr., whose father spent eight years playing for the Steelers and five years on the Steelers’ coaching staff, is now on the Steelers’ radar in the NFL draft.

Porter Jr. visited the Steelers’ facility, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. The visit does not count toward the Steelers’ 30 visits with college players because Porter is considered a local prospect.

Smaller but faster than his linebacker father, Porter Jr. is considered one of the best cornerback prospects in this year’s draft. He might be off the board before the Steelers’ first-round pick, No. 17 overall.

Porter Jr. said at the Combine that he’d love to be a Steeler.

“I think it would probably mean a lot for me and my family, being in the Pittsburgh area for a little bit now,” Porter said. “Staying at home would mean a lot.”

I think if Paris Johnson is there at 17 the Steelers are tripping over themselves handing that card in. Don’t think theres a chance in hell that Paris makes it out of the top ten

I feel like I’m in the minority on him but I feel he’s overrated/overhyped. I was able to watch a nice chunk of OSU games and I can’t say I was ever blown away. Yes, he’s a freakish athlete at OT; however the kid couldn’t handle edge rushers with speed or good hand use. The problem I see with that is, everybody has good speed and hand work.

2023 NFL Mock Draft: Ian Valentino of Pro Football Network | NFL Mock Draft Database

So let's break down this mock. Steelers take Skoronski, pass on: Porter and Witherspoon. In fact Skoronski is the 4th tackle taken. So Skoronski goes after Darnell Wright, interesting. Gonzalez is the only CB to go before pick 22 to the Ravens. No Tight Ends taken in round 1, and Robinson falls to 21 to the Chargers. A total of 6 OT go in round one. If this falls the way this mock suggests, there is a TON of talent at 32. 3 WR with first round grades, 3 TE's with first round grades, and OG with a First round grade. If Kahn can find a trading partner, slide back a little. They are still going to get a great player. In fact if Robinson is still on the board if this mock falls the way they predict, slide back from 17, you still have Porter, Banks, and Witherspoon available.

To everyone saying mocks are pointless, no they are not. The Steelers and probably every other team do trial runs. They have a team that presents how a draft could fall and they prepare for it. As far as trading goes, only a few teams have the draft capital to move up, namely Detroit and Seattle. Last year the Ravens were loaded with capital, they had four 4th picks. I am surprised they didn't trade up or trade for future picks. They lack of top flight WR on that team is alarming. Again now not a fan of Lamar Jackson and his juvenile antics, he really didn't have a great supporting receiving cast other than Andrews. Now they may not even have him start the season. As one guy said, 31 teams passed on him before, and now it has come around full circle. Collusion theory, is bullshit. Has nothing to do with his ethnicity either. He has not demonstrated the ability to remain healthy and available or to be productive in the playoffs. Just watch Miami week 2 of 2022 if you want to see his ability to get first downs and keep the other team off the field, resting his teammates on defense.

Don’t think they’re pointless if they’re done correctly, and with a teams needs in mind, and not just throwing players here or there to fill spots in. That’s the way I feel about this draft. There is no chance in hell Devon Witherspoon falls past 17 even if Skoronski is there, meaning they will pick the possible top corner over the projected 3rd or 4th tackle.

I have Witherspoon as 2nd overall CB behind Gonzalez. But I get your point, and Skoronski's arm length is something that evaluators project his as a Guard. No way in hell do I want OG at 17.

Teams with 2 picks in round 1,.

Houston, Seattle, Detroit. Philly. One of those teams will take Bjion Robinson. Houston drafifs Young and then looks at WR. Why not look at one of the best players in the draft , Robinson. Detroit can grab Gonzalez at 6 then BPA. Etc.., Thrse young QBs will need help, a running attack makes sense and Robinson is as close to a can’t miss player in the draft.
