I think what the Haslams did is going to be the straw that broke the Camels back. It was nonsense by the Browns brass in the first place. This whole damn thing was started by that 1 move in regards to Lamar anyways, but id also be willing to bet the other up and coming QB's with contracts looming, are not going to be as stupid as Lamar or as greedy. Owners should learn a lesson and QB's who think they deserve anything fully guaranteed are just arrogant. If a QB can demand and receive a fully guaranteed contract, then any other position should be also. If it wernt for the dogs in the trenches, who never get any cred, these QB's today would be cripples. I understand that, but even tho the owners collect the money and get richer, they are forking out the cash to keep this League going. Im not to concerned about what the owners make or do or rake in, thats not my point... the bottom line is when it comes to players getting a bigger piece of the pie, a pie the owners are creating, Im not a person to concerned what the owners make in their investment, im concerned what the players around the League can haul in compared to other positions. QB's are braking the bank... has nothing to do with the owners. Owners are why we have the game... im referring to guaranteed contracts... there simply has to be a loop-hole of sorts in case you have a headcase's or injuries or poor production. I would never guarantee a contract base on a seasons success. The owners and what the players get is apples and oranges in my opinion.
I agree. If Lamar had an agent, he might better understand the Browns were desperate to sign a player that had already told them no. That was the only play they had left to get him to change his mind. As far as I know, his camp didn’t demand a fully guaranteed contract, nor did any other team in the league offer him one, which is the only reason the Browns landed him in the first place. In Lamar’s case, with at least the perception that his demands are a guaranteed contract, he doesn’t have any pursuers. He has put the message out that he isn’t demanding a fully guaranteed contract, but if that number is north of 90% in guarantees, you still aren’t in the ballpark. Lamar doesn’t know how to “talk” to these teams on his own behalf to see if there is a common ground. Instead of calling out collusion, the NFLPA needs to be talking some sense into Lamar and tell him to find an agent who talks the language so he actually knows what his market value is.
I disagree with this whole heartily. If you are talking two year guarantees, then I could get on board. But a fully guaranteed contract could cripple a team like the Browns if Watson never recovers from his two year layoff. Or worse, his off field issues become a bigger issue. There could still be another woman out there that could have proof of more wrong doing than exposing himself to her. Then what? No player and $220M on the books over the next 4 years because it’s guaranteed. Most contracts have certain amounts guaranteed for injury, but players like Lamar have a high risk factor for injury. Why guarantee a full contract when it is almost guaranteed he will mis at least some time to injury over those 5 years? What if in his first year he has a RGIII type injury that he doesn’t recover from? Lamar isn’t going to magically become a non high risk QB over night. He isn’t THAT guy. He needs to use his legs to be effective. RBs don’t get guaranteed contracts and they don’t get the higher paying contracts, that’s because of the injury factor. Like it or not Lamar has the same factor.

The Ravens are. They’re going to wind up trading Lamar and drafting Richardson because he is the closest thing to a plug and play in Lamar’s offense.
If they want him, they are going to need to give up quite a bit to get him… possibly both first rounders they get for Lamar, plus more. They might have to go up to #3. Unless of course the team signing him is either the Texans or Colts, which I doubt. Possibly if the Raiders sign him, they could get away with that 6 and a 2nd rounder this year, otherwise it will be both firsts from Vegas. Would you rather have Richardson’s unknown or Lamar who has already had an MVP in the system? Tough decision for the Ravens

Report: Raiders will not consider Jalen Carter in draft The Raiders have a number of ways they can go with the seventh overall pick in this year’s draft, but their options reportedly do not include former Georgia defensive tackle Jalen Carter. Raiders head coach Josh McDaniels said this week, via Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal, that the team would ” do everything we have to do to make sure that, not only with Jalen but every player, we know exactly what the truth is” before drafting a player. Vic Tafur of TheAthletic.com reports that that process will not be an extensive one when it comes to Carter, however. Tafur reports that Carter has “already been crossed off by the team.” Per the report, comparisons between Carter’s recent arrest in Georgia and former Raiders wideout Henry Ruggs’ arrest in 2021 are at the root of that decision. Carter pleaded no contest to misdemeanor driving offenses in connection to a car crash that killed his Georgia teammate Devin Willock and Georgia football staffer Chandler LeCroy earlier this year. Ruggs is awaiting trial on DUI charges from a crash that killed a woman and the two incidents reportedly hit “too close to home” for the Raiders to consider adding Carter to their roster next month. I wouldn't be surprised if it's true whether it was fabricated or the Raiders say the opposite. If you draft him you deserve to lose a big chunk of your fanbase. They just can't do it with Ruggs being so fresh. It's bad optics.
Yeah, that's what I thought when my team was considering hiring a possible serial sex offender... They did just that. It's a time in which society pretty much forgives and forgets on a daily basis. Out of sight, out of mind as if it never happened. In my own situation, I have a mother, wife, sister and (3) daughters. (4) of which are big Browns fans. All of which immediately reacted, if they sign this guy, they will no longer support this team or the NFL in general. That was exactly a year ago... Today, we are already talking about which games I might be able to get through work to go down to the stadium and watch a game in person.. NONE of those mentioned above have abandoned the Browns, all gave me shit a year ago that if I didn't abandon the Browns, it would be the same as allowing him to do to them what he did to his victims. It gave me a STRONG sense of where my head needed to be when evaluating my own ability to support the franchise through the situation. Now... it was all talk and no action, even they have moved on, since he only has a couple of cases left in court and they are never talked about any more. The same will be true for whomever drafts this talented kid. Hell, we don't even know any of the personal circumstances of his involvement, other than we absolutely know he was in the other vehicle surrounding this terrible accident. Even if the Raiders decide to draft him, the fanbase they lose in April will start to come back in September and nearly all of it will return before the end of the season. It's human nature to have an opinion, it's also human nature to forgive and forget. If he is the BPA, they probably should just go ahead and deal with the short term effects, rather than chancing him being the worst mistake the franchise has made for not even considering him an option. I've learned a lot over this past year... my family has taught me more about human nature in that time than I had learned in the previous 51 years leading up to it.

They’ve been sniffing around all the potential R1 guys so I have no doubt they’re considering it and they are in dire need of an upgrade in that group. That said I’d far prefer it in a trade-down scenario, but if the top OT’s and CB’s are all off the board I’d be good with it.
I hope that the Steelers don’t trade up. I believe the three picks in the top 49 can all be starters and play at a high level.
