My $ is on Stroud #1 overall . Best pure passer & did well vs. Georgia on the biggest stage .

Got my money in early on Stroud as well, and I'm not 100% sold that the Texans are going to go with Bryce Young at #2 overall.

I don't think I'll have an idea for at least a couple weeks. Even if I wasn't a bit out of the loop it looks like it's still unknown or well under wraps.

It wouldnt surprise me to see Richardson go before Young or Levis. More people leaning towards 4 QB's going quickly, but i see Levis and Young dropping.

It's interesting to speculate on, because there are unique reasons to pass on each passer. It's not like a pair of guys have really similar skill sets, but there are 5 (throwing Hooker in) passers that are all different in both positive and negative ways.

Really interesting class to compare against each other...

As in you think you know right now that Stroud will go #1 vs the Field? That probably favour you as as I'm typing they are saying Storud is -160 to go first but I could, why not. What you thinking?

I dunno... Probably something like a 6 pack (buyer's choice).

Stroud is steadily moving up as the favorite on the betting boards, so we could shake it up with some other kind of bet.

Beer costs more in Ontario. That'll even the odds. You got Stroud, I'll take the Field. 6 or 12 beers. Your call.

    lol

I forgot you were an odds bettor...

A 6 pack of whatever suds I wanna poison you with against a 6 of whatever you want to drown me with on Stroud at #1 vs the field.

    Done.

That would remain the bet even if the Panthers were to trade out, for some unknown reason...

You also reminded me that I haven't gone back and checked my bet sheet from last season. I know at least a couple people here owe some pay up, and a couple other randos from around the neighborhood need to pay the piper, as well.

That reminds me. My dad owes me a 2-4 after I bought him a bunch of cigars lately. We've been doing a ton of reno the last few months. It was looking like Chernobyl for a bit. Still not even 1/4 of the way done though.

Its very interesting, one of the more intriguing QB selections I can remember. Its funny how i read reports that the staff, GM and all the brass with the Panthers were torn on who they thought should be selected. That says it all to me.

I didn't care for odds on a friendly/relatively low wager. I just wanted to take a jab at you that the odds favoured you. If my beer was cheaper I would have been fine regardless. And sure on the stipulations.

C.J. Stroud impresses Panthers; Panthers impress C.J. Stroud

The Panthers sent 12 representatives to Columbus, Ohio, to watch C.J. Stroud throw. They took him to dinner on Tuesday night, getting to know one of the quarterbacks they are considering with the No. 1 overall selection.

“Very likable. Really knows football. It’s not too big for him,” Panthers General Manager Scott Fitterer said after Ohio State’s Pro Day, via Darin Gantt of the team website. “He’s very comfortable being in that environment and being in command.

“We had a great two-and-a-half-hour dinner with him. Really [as] impressive off the field as he was on.”

Fitterer, head coach Frank Reich, offensive coordinator Thomas Brown, senior assistant Jim Caldwell, quarterbacks coach Josh McCown, assistant G.M. Dan Morgan and vice president of football administration Samir Suleiman are traveling together to see the top quarterbacks. Owners Dave and Nicole Tepper attended Wednesday’s workout and are continuing on the trip as well.

They were joined by director of college scouting Cole Spencer, area scout Joel Patten and senior personnel executive Jeff Morrow for an even dozen representatives Wednesday.

The Panthers left central Ohio bound for Alabama, where they’ll watch Bryce Young throw Thursday. They then head to Kentucky to see Will Levis on Friday. University of Florida quarterback Anthony Richardson throws next Thursday.

All four quarterbacks are expected to make individual visits to Charlotte.

“We’ll get to see these first three quarterbacks back to back to back,” Fitterer said. “It’s a really good assessment of each guy, and we can talk about it. And at the end of this, we can sit down and kind of work through the hard decision-making process.

“You can never have enough information. You want to make the most informed decision. By doing that, you want to look at every option out there. Then you can feel really good that you’ve gone through the right process and your decision-making.”

Stroud said the dinner was intended for the sides to get to know each other.

“I mean, I kind of want to keep some of it to us just because I don’t want to put out any of their business or mine, but I had a great time,” Stroud said of the dinner. “Just having open, transparent conversations about everything.

“They showed me how they like to do things off the field and to help people in the community, and that’s something I want to be a part of.”

Hypothetical - If the #1 pick is a lock of CJ Stroud to the Panthers, are the remaining 3 or 4 available QB's worth trading up for? Team and scheme dependable? I was wondering if the Texans, Cardinals or Colts are so dialed in on a particular QB other than Stroud, is it worth the trade of valuable picks or will they possibly let the chips fall where they may? It might even make a team like the Colts wonder if they can afford a Lamar Jackson deal, Im just wondering.

Cardinals will trade back . Ravens might be looking at Richardson. Cheaper bigger less expensive but inexperienced version of Jackson. They will get compensated and free up cap space and not have to change their offensive game plan.

I just got this feeling that Young may be available at #3, and the Raiders are going to give up a first and second this year, and a first next year to move up and get him.

Jimmy's contract would make him an easy cut candidate in 2025, so that would give the Raiders one season of Jim starting and another of him backing up or continuing to start, if needed, before putting him back into the free agency pool.

I kinda miss the days when the team with the #1 pick wouldn't bother with waiting until mid/late April and would just go ahead and sign the guy.

The way the draft pick contracts are slotted now, you'd think that would be easier to do than it was way back whenever.

The league essentially tells the team to keep the suspense for ratings on the network talk shows even if it's obvious.
