Terrell has played really good football for us the last few years and the really encouraging thing about Kazee is the 3-safety look they worked on all training camp last year and then had to shelve until he got healthy. Over the last 8 weeks the Steelers gave up more than 20pts only one time (Cin). The big nickel was a key component and it lessens the need for a cover ILB.

I like those players too. If Tank Dell is too rich and becomes a luxury pick, I got another twitchy smaller WR that I think would add value in the NFL Derius Davis out of TCU. Special Team player of the year in the Big 12, and has returned punts for TD's.

 

Jalen Carter arrived at his pro day 8-9 lbs heavier than the combine. His snap count was down in the Championship game. Two reasons 1. TCU got blown out so they didn’t need him and Smart was protecting the player from injury before his big pay day. 2. He’s out of shape and it’s gone downhill from there. Pass on this kid he doesn’t get it. You’d think after what that dummy Ruggs did in Vegas, killing a woman and her dog . Someone would tell the bozo to cut the shit after he did 89 in a 45. Now more lives are lost because these young kids think they’re great drivers because they’re great athletes . Now give Carter 20M guaranteed and let’s see what happens. I hope the dude gets it he’s already cost himself millions and that top 5 pick is now a top 20. IMHO.

Read a good post on another site as far as drafting CB's. The Steelers have been drafting the wrong clay, basically Playdoh. Let's hope they draft artist quality clay in this draft.

Steelers just signed a talented OG from the Eagles. # build the trenches. Maybe rule out OG/C in the early rounds. Still banging the table for Darnell Washington at 32 if the ILB's are off the board. At 17 draft a CB, hope one falls to that spot.

 

Ok drop Schmitz, add in Mazi Smith at 49, and in round 3 let's get us a WR. I am liking a few guys. Jaylen Reed, Xavier Hutchinson, Marvin Mims, Cedric Tillman.

Good discussions on Depot, is Dotson the odd man out now? He would be a cap savings of 2.9M? Beach is better at this cap savings than I will ever be, I'm a draft guy. My concern is that Dotson can only play LG or RG. Daniels was your best lineman in 2022 and it was a good signing. Cole was injured part of the year, should be healthy for 2023. Back to Dotson, if you cut him, which I don't like, that leaves a hole. To me the backup OG on this team will be Nate Herbig, who gets a hat on Sundays. The thing is Dotson is in the system, has started, and he doesn't have to get a hat unless you lose Cole, Daniels, Herbig, or Seumalo to injury. In the draft I am looking at Darnell Wright, an OT who can play RT or LT and if he beats out Chuks, then Chuks is your swing OT. I am not as high on Dewand Jones as other posters, but 380 lbs. is a lot of man to get around and could buy PIckett more time. The issue I have with Dewand Jones is that is a RT only in my eyes, I think Wright gives you more flexibility. The other thought that was discussed on Depot was that Dan Moore was covering for Dotson more often than the casual fan notices. I am not a film guy, don't have the time or the eye (miss burghball for that) .

I still like Darnell Washington, he is like having a 6th offensive lineman. Free Agency is not over, I still expect them to look at resigning Edmunds, and kick the tires on DT, CB, and LB. We are done with OG for sure. JMS comes in for a visit, I removed him from my mock, but thinking about numbers, he would be cheap on a 4 year contract at pick 49. Lots of good things happening with Kahn. Yeah I know we lost Sutton, but his price tag was too high. You can find another Spillane late in the draft or a priority undrafted Free agent. He was no doubt a good backup, but a liability in coverage, but still better than Devin Bust. Dee Winters is a third day draft pick who can cover TE's and play ST. They have Mark Robinson to thump on running plays. Steelers draft plans have changed, I believe right now the needs are CB, ILB, OLB, DT, OT and possibly they won't pass up on a blue chip OC like JMS or Joe Tippman out of Wisconsin. Throw another hat in the ring on your boards. Nate Herbig's little brother is an OLB from Wisconsin. I will put together another mock, more realistic, not just the dudes I am super psyched about.

 

Do you think Dotson is on his way out because of these new signings? Maybe trade him for a 5th?
