Yep, it'll happen, just not sure when. I think he's enjoying the process.

It still does seem like a weird fit to me. The California hipster taking his act to The Big Apple.

Though I do believe he would make the Jets instant contenders in a conference that's already loaded with QB talent.

You know, Im not real sure. I think Rodgers has already peaked and he's not 'all that' anymore. Sure he misses Adams and such, but he wasnt the 'impressive' QB last season that he has been in the past. Im wondering also if he can sustain anymore solid hits and with the Jets, that may be a concern or potential problem with that offensive line protection he'll have. I personally think Rodgers, at this point is a risk, most people may not agree with me. Some say he would crumble under the NY scrutiny, but I think the opposite as Rodgers seems to be a spotlight hog. Ive also seen indications from sources relavent to the Jets that some of the Jets players are sick and tired of the long wait and drama on who their stating QB is going to be. Im waiting on a response from a 'Jets source' on that particular point.

Bottom line to me is, if Rodgers goes on TV today and doent indulge us with some kind of update, then the whole thing is a waist of time for all involved, including the Jets and Packers (who probably couldnt care less). Time is closing, we will know soon, but to drag this bullshit out like this and make the Jets wait and see is something that irks me, but hell, it is Aaron Rodgers... what did I expect.

Aaron Rodgers: It’s my intention to play for the Jets, Packers are “digging their heels in”

Yes, Aaron Rodgers wants to play for the Jets.

He admitted it on Wednesday while speaking to Pat McAfee.

Rodgers also made it clear that he made the decision to play for the Jets several days ago, and that he’s waiting for the Jets and Packers to work out a trade.

Rodgers blamed the Packers for “digging their heels in” on compensation.

“It’s my intention to play for the Jets, but I’m still under contract with the Packers,” Rodgers said.

And so it’s no longer “if” but “when.”

And the “when” will happen when the Packers and Jets work out a deal.

At one point, Rodgers cited his accomplishments and tenure with the Packers as part of a “plea” for the team to be reasonable now.

“They want to move on,” Rodgers said.

Indeed they do. And they should (as Rodgers said) “do right by” one of the best players in franchise history.

Report: Jacoby Brissett agrees to terms with Commanders

Commanders coach Ron Rivera repeatedly has expressed confidence in Sam Howell, who made his first career start as a rookie in Week 18 last season. Rivera calls Howell QB1 but stopped short of guaranteeing Howell will start the 2023 season opener.

Jacoby Brissett could start Week 1.

The Commanders agreed to terms with Brissett on Wednesday, Dianna Russini of ESPN reports.

Brissett ranks 64th on PFT’s list of top-100 free agents.

Brissett, 30, has started games for four teams in his seven seasons since the Patriots made him a third-round pick.

He played for the Browns last season, and while filling in for Deshaun Watson while Watson was suspended, Brissett started 11 games. He went 236-of-339 for 2,608 yards with 12 touchdowns and six interceptions.

Buccaneers, Baker Mayfield agree to 1-year deal, sources say

Former No. 1 pick Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have reached agreement on a one-year contract worth up to $8.5 million, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Wednesday.

Mayfield's deal starts at $4 million, a source told ESPN's Jenna Laine.

The Buccaneers needed a veteran quarterback with the ability to start to compete with 2021 second-round draft pick Kyle Trask.

General manager Jason Licht said at the NFL combine that the Buccaneers "have a lot of faith in Kyle." But going from third string to a starter and following in the footsteps of seven-time Super Bowl winner Tom Brady would be a tall ask for any player, let alone one who saw his first NFL regular-season snaps ever in Week 18.

The Buccaneers are also installing a new offense under new offensive coordinator Dave Canales, who was largely credited for helping revive Geno Smith's career in Seattle. Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said Canales' work had a "remarkable influence" on their quarterbacks.

Mayfield played the final five games of the 2022 season for the Los Angeles Rams, who claimed him off waivers from the Carolina Panthers on Dec. 6. In those five games, Mayfield completed 63.6% of his passes for 850 yards with four touchdowns and two interceptions.

Mayfield, the No. 1 pick in 2018, was playing on the final season of his rookie contract after the Cleveland Browns picked up his fifth-year option in April 2021. The Browns, who had acquired Deshaun Watson in a trade with the Houston Texans last offseason, traded Mayfield to the Panthers in July. He played in seven games in Carolina before he was waived.

At the time he was waived, Mayfield ranked last in the NFL in Total QBR among qualified quarterbacks with a rating of 18.2.

After the Rams' final game of the 2022 season, Mayfield said he had no doubt that he was "good enough to be a starting quarterback."

Mayfield has played for three teams in his first five seasons, becoming just the second player taken first overall in the common draft era (since 1967) to do so, according to ESPN Stats & Information research.

In his career, Mayfield has completed 61.4% of his passes for 16,288 yards, 102 touchdowns and 64 interceptions.

I'm going to be the only person here that picks Kyle Trask to win that competitions, aren't I? lol

In their free agency instant grades, The Athletic rated SF signing Sam Darnold as a "D". And the writeup even acknowledged that he went 4-2 this year for Carolina but blasted him anyway.

That's absolute nonsense. It's a $4.5 million contract for one year, which is already better than what we've seen for some other backup QBs this season. $1 million of it is not guaranteed even after the first week of the season (per game roster bonuses). $648k of the cap hit for those bonuses is automatically deferred to 2024 as Not Likely To Be Earned based on the time he was on IR in 2022, so his 2023 cap hit is only $3.85 million.

He's a young QB who still has significant upside, and his 2022 season proved it. He played six games. His only bad outing was the meaningless season finale. Before that, he put up QB passer ratings above 100 in four of the previous five games. The Panthers went 3-8 without him at QB, then went 4-2 with him. That's a night vs day difference, and all of his games came after they had already traded Christian McCaffrey.

So this is a QB who excelled this past season, and SF gets him on a cheap contract with no long term commitment. There's no fucking way that's a D grade of a signing.

San Francisco gets an A for this one. The Athletic gets a D minus.

The one thing I will note is that Darnold needs the right coach working with him. Ben MacAdoo believed from the outset that his flaws were mechanical issues that could be corrected. Is he going to be a good fit for Shanahan? Odds are we'll never really know. You wouldn't expect SF to have as many QB injuries this season as they did in 2022, so Darnold might never see the field outside of preseason.

I like Trask too, but I'll wait to see what's behind Door Number Three before projecting him as the starter...

I didn't say he'd start, just that he'd be out Baker on the depth chart.

Agree 100%. Darnold is a better QB (and the execution of the deal) than a 'D' would indicate and they got him cheap. Just goes to show another 'Athletic contributor's' blunder, imo. Personally i think, if he's called upon to start, sub or whatever, he will be worth more than what SF forked out. The move gets a 'A' from me also.

I dont even know who the hell Kyle Trask is, but Id take him over Baker, lol.

Just kidding... seriously this will lite an even hotter fire under Trask to work out and perform to the absolute best he can. A little comp never hurt in a QB competition.

Great for Jacoby. That seems like a good fit. Brissett deserves an opportunity to start somewhere. He was impressive in Cleveland under the circumstances. It wouldn't be the craziest thing if he kept Howell on the bench a bit longer.

Ya think Stefanski and the Browns will get any apologies from the Baker faithful? The entire league had a crack at him and he signs for 1yr, 4M. I'd say their evaluation of him was dead on.

IMHO baker made a mistake even if it is just 1 year he should have stayed with the Rams and been the successor to Stafford. Both teams are you murky waters right now but I trust McVay over Bowles.

I gotta see the contract details on this one. A one-year deal that "starts at $4 million" but is potentially $8.5 million? WTF? Gonna be some really interesting per-game roster bonus and incentive clauses for it to more than double the base.
