Wow, Dremont Jones signs a $51mil deal with the Seahawks. That is bad, Poles has no business not being in on that.

So they spunk $90mil on LB's in the first hour but let one of the top FAs at a position of huge need sign elsewhere for not even big money? k k k k k k k k

Honestly, i hope he comes back. That totally screws the Packers in multiple ways.

But i just love how Erin was at pains to tell everyone publicly that he wasnt going to hold the Packers hostage, he wanted to make a quick decision and he didnt want to negatively effect anyones plans. And there they are, FA has effectively started and 2 teams are unable to make moves.

In particular he's screwing the Packers and im here for it, but seriously why would anyone want this cancerous fuck? He is an absolute passive aggressive vindictive little bitch lol.

No official numbers, but 3/21-24 range for a rotational guy.

Yeah, I went to sleep and woke up confused about that one. Feels like it made too much sense not to get done, for Chicago.

Not only that, but who's best days are behind him. The worst case scenario for us, is the Jets give the Packers a king's ransom, but the rumor mill today is that the reason a deal isn't done is because the Jets are the ones playing hardball. They have the leverage, so good for them. You're going to give the packers cap room in addition to whatever picks.

Poles is supposedly an oline guy, maybe. Maybe.

The one I heard was Erin has a laundry list of who he wants them to acquire, and as ridiculous as that sounds I can see him doing that to keep the deal from happening because he is that divaish. Cobb, Lazard, Lewis.

Does at least explain why in terms of signing actual current players the Bears have done fuck all squared today.

Yeah i think thats a crock of shit personally. An OL guy doesnt take a very bad OL and somehow make it even worse, which is what Poles did last season. And there's no 1st year excuse. He decided it was a good idea to give Mustipher an encore shitfest season. His biggest FA signing was a bum C the Packers didn't want not even on the cheap and after all that, OL was such a priority for Poles he didnt address it until the 5th round of the draft. O-Line guy? Yeah right.

He's done some very good things but by far my biggest disappointment about Poles has been his amateur hour approach to the O-Line. He made 1 good signing yesterday, but its gonna take a LOT more yet. Im crossing my fingers but im sure as shit not holding my breath.

In fact, did you guys see how many totally affordable $5-6mil per deals got handed out to starter calibre C's today?! Just not gonna bother with that are we Poles? Watch this fucker think he's solved the equation by moving Whitehair back to C.

Lions sign Monty for 3 years, $18 million, $11 mill guaranteed. Can't believe Poles wouldn't have resigned him for that price. This better not mean that RB suddenly becomes a draft priority.

    Ahhhh fuck.

The bears are stupid enough to draft a running back 9 overall too.

Fuck, he's a Lion now? Fuck. Fucking fuck, man.

To Ev's point, I'm concerned about the management of this lockerroom. Monty was a leader, and did things the right way. There was never an ounce of quit in that guy. Who replaces him? Who helps develop the culture of that lockerroom? That is a paramount element of rebuilding this team that I'm keeping my eye on, because I don't see this team having "those guys", and the culture has to change if they want to win.

I hear you especially with regard to C, because Mustipher is on my all time shit list. Any of these other guys are instantly better even if they were on the bench.

I didn't want to even click the like button because that disgusts me. $6m/year? Poles clearly didn't like him then, that's a completely fair deal and he goes to a division rival? Not good Poles.

One way and one way only for you to salvage this debacle you've made of the RB position Poles.

Send a 5th to LA for the better version Montgomery. Who you'll then have to extend for comfortably more than the $6mil a year you wouldn't pay Monty btw, but thats the bed you've made.

That might be me for the day, have a good one fellas and fuck you Poles :FAP:

A 5th gets you Ekeler? If that's the case why hasn't that call been made already.

This is the move. Not Bijan fucking Robinson.

Monty in 4 years, for as much as I liked and wanted him to come back, racked up 915 carries with a few freak plays (including once or twice we all could have sworn he tore his knee but it ended up being a week to week scare). I'm not saying he's washed, but the bears put a ton of mileage on him in 4 years--and in today's NFL, it can be argued the bears likely got his best years.

For context, Austin Ekeler has over 100 less career carries in 6 years. Poles has signed a back up off of Seattle named Homer.

I'll miss Monty and 6 mil? That stings Poles didn’t already finalize that 3 months ago, or maybe he tried, and we won’t find that out for months. Buy Monty wants to be a rotational guy? In Detroit? Check his ass for CTE, especially after Edwards and Edmunds acquaint themselves with him. Wish Akiem Hicks wasn’t old and washed. How a few years back he’d blow up an OL, fuck up a RB, then talk shit loudly (Dalvin Cook), is something you now want to see happen.

Yeah I would think the Chargers would want a 2nd, maybe a 3rd if there's little interest. A 5th for an all star RB in his prime is a no brainer.

I think Monty's presence made Herbert more productive. I don't have the numbers in front of me but I think when Herbert was featured without Monty his productivity was down. Plus as Dline pointed out he has a great never-say-die unselfish approach to his game. Given that he was a valued member of the team and available for such a low price, I don't know why Poles ignored him. Either way RB is now a need, someone like Monty who can compliment Herbert.

  20. tunafat Franchise Player Bears

The amount of determination in that guy I can't recall in a Bears RB since Sweetness, but Monty wasn't that special of a back. The position itself has also lost some value over the years and it's also shown to be more of a plug-and-play position. Sure you have to also consider the intangibles he brought to the table, but at the end of the day, it's still about production. He has plenty of mileage on him, but can he be expected to maintain that level throughout another contract? He obviously doesn't fit Poles model going forward, and I remember how this board remarked how Belichick used to jettison still-productive players, and those players never seemed to have the success they enjoyed with the Pats.
I love Monty, and I'll miss him, but I've made my peace with it. I hate the fact that he went to the Loins, because with his determination I can see him going all Cedric Bumson on us, and that scares the fuck outta me.
