And you have to carry the full burden of the accelerated cap until June 1st. Can't use it during free agency.
Alrighty then…..We had some awful cap hell numbers. Since then they have restructured Watson’s contract, resigned a center and added two free agent defensive line guys. Any of you salary numbers guys care to show where this puts the team now with regards to the cap?
Speaking of contracts and restructures, there is a good article over on OBR. Here’s the link: How The Cleveland Browns Can Create $93,864,800 Of Cap Space Without Cutting Anyone, But Should They?
Browns poach Dalvin Tomlinson from Vikings The Vikings will see another member of an overmatched 2022 defense go elsewhere in 2023. Via Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, the Browns are expected to sign defensive tackle Dalvin Tomlinson. It reportedly will be a four-year, $57 million deal with $27.5 million guaranteed. As usual, the full structure and breakdown will reveal what the contract is truly worth, and how long it’s likely to last. Tomlinson lasted two years in Minnesota, after four with the Giants. Last year, Tomlinson appeared in 13 games, with six starts. He had 2.5 sacks. PFT
Seems the Browns had several deals in the works at a position that had to be addressed. After Hargrave was quickly off the board, word is Cleveland was interested in former Buckeye Dremont Jones. But after he signed (3yr $51M) with Seattle, Cleveland immediately got the deal (4yr $57M) done with Tomlinson. Andrew Berry keeping busy....
According to OTC (Over The Cap) website, after the Watson restructure and some recent activity, the Browns now have $20,477,603 of cap space to work with.
I wore the #57 proudly back in the day. Borderline HoF'r. I think he should be in. That family has some genetics.
Looks like they signed the DL through free agency. So what are they targeting in the draft or FA other than maybe a WR and a backup QB?
You don’t want holes to fill in the draft when your first pick is in the second round. They got some guys that should be able to replace some that are either gone or needed an upgrade. Now they can take BPA, which is always what you want past he first round.
Yep. With the signings of Tomlinson, Pocic, Okoronkwo, Thornhill, and a couple others, I think it gives the Browns the flexibility to do exactly that, come draft day.
