Im not massively pissed off at this, but i am a little pissed off. RT is a big need but Jawan Taylor concerns me.
If we're gonna pay someone that, I'm glad it wasn't him. Hopefully the Claypool trade dick-measuring contest with Green Bay was an exception, not the rule for Poles. Good start.
This money's even crazier than McGlinchey's money! Fuck this. Poles get some damn DL's locked up so you can draft a Tackle.
Yeah, I think that the reality of seeing Braxton Jones start at LT again is getting closer. Personally, I feel that paying a top tackle would've been worth it, but that money is definitely big. I would've been comfortable with Taylor or Brown at that money, but the fact that the Chiefs moved on from Brown to pay Taylor tells me that either A ) Brown wants absolutely stupid money, or B ) KC didn't feel he was worth what they paid Taylor. We'll see what happens. Drafting a tackle early has always felt like the best move - the best teams have cornerstones on their offensive line that have been there for quite some time - but now it feels like really the only option. Braxton Jones at LT is bad enough, but no one at RT is even worse. Gotta get a real NFL body in the door one way or another.
This is a hugely important area for me re Poles and right now the jury is still very much out. He didn't take the OL seriously at all last offseason and it was predictably awful. Getting his QB killed for a 2nd straight season is simply not an option. Not saying he was wrong to pass on McGlinchey or Taylor. But moves need to be made. He has to make it happen.
Yeah, it's definitely the thing that I think we're all biting our fingernails over. The OL needs a major upgrade - at least one OT position and C, and I would argue another serious G or OT for competition at least - and it can't wait. Last year was stupid, but there's no excuse this year between the most amount of money available and coming in with the #1 pick. If you had a plan for the OL to improve, you have every resource to get it done. We will see. Edit: I think he was wrong to pass on Taylor, unless he's sure he can get a starting OT at #9. Yeah, it's big money, but he's relatively young and can immediately improve the line. Plus, OT's are going to get more expensive every year, that's just the league.
