He's too flighty to take a chance on IMO. I'll be as diplomatic as possible so let's just say-"He beats to his own drummer ".
I agree and personally wouldnt touch him but he would eat up the attention being on a new york team would give him.
Tua Tagovailoa’s parents: No doubt that Tua comes back and plays next season In October, Tua Tagovailoa said he didn’t know if his parents were on board with him playing football after suffering a serious concussion. Tagovailoa has suffered another concussion since then, but his parents both said this week that they’re confident he will play in 2023. Asked by KHON if there’s any doubt that Tua will play this year, his mother Diane Tagovailoa answered, “No, he comes back.” Tua’s father Galu Tagovailoa said he’s certain Tagovailoa will be playing for the Dolphins in the 2023 season. “Oh, he comes back,” Galu said. “Yeah, he comes back. That’s their guy. I mean, they love him. We love them and what they’re doing and how [they are] helping him with his recovery and everything else, you know, trying to get him back, still going through his protocol, but we’re grateful for them, too. Very thankful for Miami, the organization, the owner, GM, and head coach, Mike [McDaniel], I mean, that guy’s special. Very special head coach.” Tua Tagovailoa has still not cleared the concussion protocol after suffering a concussion on December 25. PFT
Jimmy Garoppolo says possible Super Bowl return “still up in the air” Jimmy Garoppolo fractured his foot early in the 49ers’ Week 13 game against the Dolphins. The quarterback returned to the practice field for rehab work on the side last week. He is not ready to return to action this week. Garoppolo told Matt Barrows of TheAthletic.com on Friday that “he can do everything on his still-mending foot but sprint.” Garoppolo was non-committal on a return for Super Bowl LVII should the 49ers beat the Eagles on Sunday. “That’s still up in the air,” Garoppolo told Barrows. The 49ers never placed Garoppolo on injured reserve, leaving open the possibility he could return before the end of the season to back up rookie Brock Purdy. Josh Johnson, who joined the team after Garoppolo’s injury, currently is the No. 2 quarterback. Garoppolo, who is scheduled to become a free agent in March, completed 67.2 percent of his passes for 2,437 yards with 16 touchdowns and four interceptions. PFT
If they make it to the Super Bowl and he is able to return, I would think he’d be the number 2 at best and I wouldn’t think there would be much discussion about it. Hoping the Eagles wipe the floor with them Sunday
I agree with this... he'd be the backup to Purdy if I was the HC. Gotta ride the hot hand. If the 49ers are flat and sputtering at the half, id consider Jimmy, but not until that situation presented itself. I also agree on the Eagles winning this game at home... and I do hope its a good, close, competitive game, not a snoozer.
Whether or not... here's your Hippy Dippy weather... man. Philadelphia will be uncharacteristically warm at kickoff of the NFC Championship Game on Sunday afternoon, while Kansas City will experience a typically cold January evening for the AFC Championship Game. The forecast for Sunday in Philadelphia calls for temperatures around 53 degrees at the 3 p.m. Eastern Time kickoff of the 49ers-Eagles game. Temperatures will fall only a few degrees during the game, although rain is possible by the fourth quarter. Winds of around 10 mph are expected during the game. In Kansas City it will be much colder at the 5:30 p.m. Central Time kickoff of Bengals-Chiefs. The forecast is for around 21 degrees at kickoff, with temperatures falling into the teens by the second half. Winds of around 10 mph are expected during that game as well. No snow is expected, so the many NFL fans who enjoy watching a snow game from the comfort of home will be deprived of that pleasure. PFT
Purdy, already one of just nine rookies ever to win a postseason game, would be the first rookie quarterback to win a conference title in the Super Bowl era.
Report: Cardinals QB Kyler Murray expected to miss start of 2023 season, may not return until 2nd half Kyler Murray's late-2022 injury is going to play a big role in his 2023 season. According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Arizona Cardinals quarterback is expected to miss the start of next season as he rehabs his torn ACL and meniscus. Murray and the Cardinals are reportedly so dedicated to making sure he comes back at 100% that it's possible he might not return to the field until halfway through the 2023 season. "My understanding is he is going to take his time and make sure this thing is 100 percent right," Rapoport said on NFL Network. "He is young. He's got a long career. He's not going to rush, so do not be surprised if we don't see him to start the season or maybe even by the midway point. This injury has to heal perfectly." Murray's injury happened in Week 14 against the New England Patriots, just three games before the end of a disastrous season that had gone off the rails months before he busted his knee. The Cardinals were 4-9 in games Murray started in 2022, and it's hard to argue their 0-4 finish to the season would have gone differently if Murray had been there. It's also hard to argue that the Cardinals would have done anything differently at the end of the season had Murray not gotten injured. It was clear long before Week 14 that major changes were coming to the team once the final snap had been played. Kliff Kingsbury had been ineffective over his four seasons as head coach and was fired, and GM Steve Keim stepped down. Changes are coming — a new head coach, a new offensive system, and there's already a new GM installed — but they'll likely have to take root without Murray under center, at least for awhile. The Cardinals will have to start the season with someone else at quarterback while Murray rehabs, and then that guy will have to step back to make way for a healthy Murray. That won't be an easy transition to manage, especially for a first-year head coach. SI ________ _________________ Cardinals are another team that seem to be in a state of confusion and bad luck. From firing coaches to injuries, they cant get it right.
Report: Raiders haven’t given Derek Carr permission to seek trade The Raiders are a little more than two weeks away from a significant milestone in quarterback Derek Carr‘s contract. Carr’s $32.9 million base salary for next year and $7.5 million of his 2024 salary will become fully guaranteed if he remains on the team on February 15, so there’s been plenty of speculation that the Raiders will try to put the framework of a trade in place ahead of that date. Carr has a role in that as he’d have to sign off on any trade, but he reportedly isn’t involving in talks with any team at this point. Albert Breer of SI.com reports that the Raiders have not granted Carr permission to talk to other teams about a trade at this point. Such conversations could also include possible adjustments to his contract, although the number of teams still looking for head coaches and/or offensive coordinators means that there are other complications to work around as well. The Senior Bowl could provide an opportunity for Raiders General Manager Dave Ziegler to have some discussions about Carr with other teams and, one way or another, there will be some news on the Carr front in the near future. 49ers expect Brock Purdy to miss six months with torn UCL in throwing elbow The injury suffered by 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy during the NFC Championship Game was a serious one. Purdy has a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow and will likely be sidelined for about six months, according to multiple reports. That timeline would have Purdy back before the start of the 2023 preseason, but it will definitely affect the 49ers’ quarterback plans. After the way he played during the regular season, Purdy appeared poised to start for the 49ers next season. Now he’ll be out of the offseason program, which may open the door to Trey Lance — or to the 49ers acquiring another quarterback. The last pick in the 2022 NFL draft, Purdy had an outstanding rookie season after both Lance and backup Jimmy Garoppolo were lost to injuries. On the basis of his rookie year he appears to have a bright future, but he now has a long rehab ahead of him. PFT __________ ____________________ Amazing he went back in the game.
They probably would’ve been better going with McCaffery running the wildcat. It was clear he wasn’t throwing, with good reason we now know
I for the life of me cant believe he went back out on the field. He and the medical staff blew this one. Desperation, I guess.
Hindsight is always 20/20 and im sure the thought with garapolo was we win this game he gets 2 more weeks and can be the backup in the SB but how much would he have helped them even if he was 50%
Brock Purdy weighing options on his elbow, hopes to make a decision soon 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy is awaiting second opinions on his injured right elbow to make a decision on the course of action. Purdy tore his ulnar collateral ligament on the sixth play of Sunday’s game when Eagles pass rusher Haason Reddick pinned Purdy’s arm as Purdy was in his throwing motion. “I still have some options to weigh and will make a final decision soon,” Purdy said Tuesday, via video from Cam Inman of the San Jose Mercury News. The 49ers’ team doctors are recommending surgery. Purdy’s rehab is expected to take six months. “I’ve heard multiple things,” Purdy said. “I think in that scenario that would be six months ready to go. I think in that scenario they said after three months, you can start throwing and getting into a throwing program and getting into a routine. I think six months would be like when you’re allowed to just go and practice and be part of everything. That’s a scenario, but I definitely have some other options, too. So definitely going to go through these MRI scans and make a decision, hopefully soon.” Purdy expects to be ready for the 2023 season. “I’ll be ready come camp and honestly what matters to me most is being able to play for the season,” he said. But with no guarantee on Purdy’s availability, the 49ers have some decisions to make at the position. They played four quarterbacks this season and ended the NFC Championship Game without a healthy one as Purdy was unable to throw but had to return after Josh Johnson‘s concussion. Trey Lance, who broke his ankle in the second game of the season, is close to being cleared to return. Jimmy Garoppolo is scheduled for free agency. PFT
Brady calls it quits for good, exactly 1 year to the day he retired last year. Brady quarterbacked his teams to an unprecedented seven Super Bowl titles. He’s the only player in NFL history with seven Super Bowl rings, the only player with five Super Bowl MVPs, and he owns NFL records including most wins, most passes, most completions, most yards and most touchdowns, both in the regular season and in the postseason. He retires as the greatest player in NFL history. The end.
