Chargers’ Joey Bosa Rips NFL Officials for Lack of Accountability The Chargers loss on Saturday night came with some controversy, as the team was upset with the referees amid the Jaguars’ 27-point comeback. That came to a head when pass rusher Joey Bosa was given an unsportsmanlike penalty that led to a key Jacksonville two-point conversion. Bosa acknowledged that the heat of the game got him when he lost frustration over what he thought were multiple missed holding calls, but he still thinks the officials need to be more accountable. “It’s a heated game, I’m hurting out there, I’m playing with half a leg, I’m getting dragged to the ground,” he said. “Maybe some of them weren’t as blatant as I thought, but I just think there needs to be more accountability.” The Chargers were called for seven penalties in the game, while Jacksonville was only called for three. Bosa took things one step further, accusing the referees of relishing in the penalties that he believes played a role in the Chargers’ loss. “If I say something to them I get a $40,000 fine but if they blow a call that ruins an entire team’s season, they’re probably back in the locker room like ‘Haha, got that a------, got him 15 yards, what a loser,’” Bosa said. “I guarantee that’s what they’re f------ talking about in the back.” Finally, Bosa ended his point by giving a quick statement about his thoughts on NFL officials right now. “I’m sick of those f------ people,” he said. He also got away with kicking Grady Jarrett on two separate plays in the first game between Tampa and Atlanta this season. Somehow the officials keep managing to ignore his dirty play.
Sad to see this. I still have fond memories of the way Donatell ran Atlanta's defense when he arrived in 2004. He established a pass rush back then that seems like a pipe dream for Falcons fans today.
I cant blame him for the injuries, but i dont believe the schemes even with the talent they have is working and I will admit Im no expert. Just seems to me when the Vikings are last or near the bottom in many defensive categories, change is something that needs to be addressed this off-season... so Im picking on Ed, lol.
Doug Pederson: No one expects us to do anything, so go play and see what happens The Chiefs, Bills, and Bengals came into the season as the biggest favorites in the AFC, so it is no surprise to see them among the final four teams alive in the conference playoffs. The Jaguars are a bigger surprise. They earned the first overall pick in the draft the last two years and had a new head coach in Doug Pederson after 2021’s Urban Meyer debacle, so expectations were low and they remained that way when the Jags opened the year with a 2-6 record. Jacksonville’s fortunes changed dramatically in the second half of the season, however, and they carry a six-game winning streak into Kansas City this Saturday. They’re heavy underdogs to the Chiefs and heading into a tough place to play, but head coach Doug Pederson’s message to to the team is that there’s no reason not to go out and play free because they’ve already gone further than anybody thought they would. “It’s a great atmosphere,” Pederson said, via the team’s website. “We have to embrace it. No one expects us to do anything, so go play, have fun, enjoy the moment and let’s see what happens. We’ve put ourselves in this position to be one of the four remaining AFC teams and you have a lot to play for. Whether we win, whether we lose, our season was a huge success from that standpoint: first year together, overcome a lot of adversity from last year to this year and pushing these guys through.” The Jaguars showed a lot of resiliency in the regular season again last Saturday with their comeback from 27-0 down to beat the Chargers, so there’s no reason to think that they’ll roll over for the Chiefs this weekend. And, if they do lose, it will still feel like the team is just at the beginning of what could be an extended run of success. PFT
Jaguars go for it hey you got nothing to lose here playing with HOUSE MONEY it makes you a very dangerous team to play cause you got nothing to lose
Jaguars are 6-8 all-time vs the Chiefs... lost 27-17 to them in KC back in November. I think we have a game IF the Jags defense can pressure Mahomes, but that guy scrambling (Patrick) is a freakin' magician. He throws underhanded, sidearm, over the top, whatever you give him, he takes it.
Cardinals owner Michael Bidwill: DeAndre Hopkins' future in Arizona will be evaluated in 'coming weeks' One of the first tasks for new Arizona Cardinals general manager Monti Ossenfort will be determining the club's path forward with star receiver DeAndre Hopkins. During the GM's introductory press conference Tuesday, Cardinals owner Michael Bidwill noted that Hopkins' future would be top of mind once Ossenfort settles in. "We talked about a number of things but those are some of the things (Ossenfort's) going to be evaluating," Bidwill said of Hopkins' deal. "As he said, he's only been in the building a few hours. He doesn't even know his way around, so he's be working on that in the coming weeks. I'm sure we will talk about that more." Hopkins is currently under contract through 2024 while carrying a $30 million cap hit in 2023. It's an untenable pact that needs adjusting one way or another. With no more guaranteed money left on the deal, Hopkins could also seek an extension to shore up his future. The Cards appear likely to consider trading the star receiver, given he's one of their few assets who could net additional draft capital for Ossenfort's rebuild. But holding a no-trade clause, Hopkins will have a say on where he'd land if the new GM decides to move the five-time Pro Bowler. The last time Hopkins played a full season was 2020, when he generated 1,407 yards and six TDs on 115 catches. In 2021 he dealt with nagging injuries, playing in 10 games and earning 572 yards and eight TDs. In 2022, Hopkins served a six-game suspension to open the season and was shut down for the final two games in a lost campaign. He earned 64 catches for 717 yards and three TDs in nine games in his 10th NFL season. NFL.com
Oh, I'm sure you and the other Vikings fans are right that his performance has been subpar. It's just sad to see it as a long time Falcons fan, when every single freaking coordinator and defensive line coach we've brought in to replace him has failed to come close to the pass rush that he generated in 2004. And it's a long list - Mike Zimmer, Dan Quinn and Dean Pees are among the coordinators, with Ray Hamilton, Bryan Cox and Bryant Young among the line coaches.
I dont know, but money talks. I think, not positive, but if Thielen doesnt resign, the Vikings will save about 6+M in Cap Space... not sure where I read that, so it may be invalid and i dont think Hopkins, as old as he is, will sign cheap. I am a Thielen fan and he had a down year, but if i looked it up, id bet he was targeted less too as the plan was to feed Jefferson as much as possible. Vikings may just stay internal at the WR position and hope to nail a WR in the draft... way down at the bottom, lol. Right now, fix the defense. I need to look into this more and do some research.. one thing for sure, Kwesi has a whole lotta stuff to address.
One other point. Justin Jefferson was on a rookie contract. He will probably seek something around $30M/yr this off season. Minnesota may not even be able to afford me at WR and Id pay them to get out there, lol.
