I feel the same as you guys do. Ultimately, the possible WR1 may come through the Draft... maybe land a player like the Saints did in Chris Olave for example, he stepped on the field and did well and the draft class has a few studs out there at that position, while at the same time the Bears need OL & DL help as priority... so its going to be tough.. Hopefully Poles has a trick or two up his sleeve, but im thinking trade down for picks and possibly land a UFA , for example; Jarvis Landry, JuJu Smith-Schuster, Mecole Hardman, Jakobi Myers? Some of these guys arnt spring chickens, but might sign more friendlier contracts, I dont know.

Not long term but I could see a 3yr, 50M (30M guaranteed) deal out there for him. He could be the missing piece for a playoff contender.

I'm with Willie.. I see that #1 overall pick becoming a HUGE asset for the Bears organization. I could see multiple trades coming out of that pick.

The Texans are desperate for a QB. I think one of the Big 3 are going to grade out much higher...Personally I think it will be C.J. Stroud, but I am definitely in the minority on that. Regardless, it would be huge if the Texans pinpoint their guy because if they get to that, "gotta have him", Bears will get the 2 and 12 picks in the draft.

It's actually too bad for the Bears, the Broncos screwed themselves with the Wilson contract. They can't trade him for at least 2 years, probably 3. Otherwise, they would be a great trade partner. Truth is, they are in a great spot to take a QB if they think the 2022 version of Wilson is the real version. With the #5 and probable 25-30 pick, they could have most likely gotten what ever QB they want in this draft. As it is, they will have to settle for getting players they hope will make Wilson look better.

IF, the Texans gave up #2 and #12, the Bears could still move down again since the Colts, Raiders, Panthers, Titans, Saints are all in a spot that they could potentially move up to the #2 spot if their guy is still on the board after the Texans pick.

All in all, I wouldn't be surprised to see the Bears with (2) 2023 first rounders, (2) 2023 second rounders, (2) 2024 first rounders and (2) 2024 second rounders when it is all said and done.

Losing sucks, but when you have a QB that you believe in, it opens up a whole new world of opportunity.

Nine days after suffering cardiac arrest during a game in Cincinnati, Bills safety Damar Hamlin has gone home.

The Bills have announced that Hamlin has been discharged from Buffalo General Medical Center.

Hamlin arrived on Monday, after being released from the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. On Tuesday, he underwent a “comprehensive medical evaluation as well as a series of cardiac, neurological and vascular testing.”

“We are confident that Damar can be safely discharged to continue his rehabilitation at home and with the Bills,” Dr. Jamie Nadler said in a statement from the team.

The next question is whether he’ll be at Sunday’s playoff game against the Dolphins and, if so, whether the Bills win the game by 30 or 60 points.

Question for the gang here. Is there a better football team than the 49ers going into this weeks Playoffs?

    Good read, thanks Will.

I too noticed the difference in Pole presence in this presser compared to last year. He has clearly grown more into the role and frankly he needed to. He looked incredibly green early on, his introductory presser where he nearly started crying right there is still horrific 12months later lol.

The potential is there for multiple picks to come out of that #1. Could be franchise altering, which is why it won't happen. Bears fans don't get nice things like that heh.

Buffalo, Cincinnati are the cream of the crop there. I like Philly and San Fran in the NFC, but I thing the 9ers are the most dangerous heavily talented team and a great defense to boot.

(took a lot not to mention Minnesota)

Follow up question... would it be possible for Shanahan to choke yet another big lead and blow yet another Superbowl? Or is the third time the charm?

Thanks! (It was my initial post that Willie was agreeing with, saying that Poles could easily follow the Les Snead playbook.)

That "Les Snead playbook" thing in more detail:

    [EDIT: short version first]

Through multiple trades, Snead turned the 2012 #2 overall pick into 3 first rounders, 2 second rounders, a third and a fifth - and the last of those first round picks ended up being the #2 overall all over again.

    [detail below]

In 2012, Snead traded the #2 overall pick for the #6, #39 (2nd round), 2013 1st and 2014 1st. He followed that up by moving down from #6 to #14, collecting another second rounder (#45 overall). He used the #14 and #39 but traded down five spots from that #45 spot to #50, getting a fifth rounder (#150). He used the #50 and #150.

The following year, that first round pick turned out to be the #22 overall selection. He traded down from there to #30 and picked up a third rounder (#92) and also got a 6th in exchange for a 2015 seventh as part of the same deal. He used the #30 and #92, then used that sixth rounder as the trade package to move his other sixth rounder up to the fifth.

The icing on the cake... the 2014 first rounder he got ended up being the #2 overall, just like the 2012 pick he started with.

    So when it was all over, the #2 pick from 2012 had become the #14, #39 (2nd), #50 (2nd) and #150 (5th) in 2012, the #30 and #92 (3rd) in 2013, the #2 overall in 2014, and also allowed him to turn a 6th to a 5th in 2013 for the price of a 2015 seventh rounder.

It's crazy that until Tua was ruled out, 7/7 teams in the AFC playoffs had 1st round QBs pegged to start. In the NFC it's just Daniel Jones.

LOL, sorry @Torgo , you’re right, I should have acknowledged your post. I was actually agreeing with you more than anyone.
