Report: X-rays on Mike Williams’ back were negative Chargers receiver Mike Williams needed assistance leaving the team’s locker room after the game, unable to walk under his own power. He left Sunday’s game in the first half with a low back injury. While that didn’t sound good, Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports X-ray results were negative. Williams will undergo more medical tests Monday. Coach Brandon Staley said after the game Williams “possibly” could have returned to the game. The Chargers were not playing for anything Sunday, locked into the fifth seed. “I didn’t really know what it was,” receiver Keenan Allen said of Williams’ injury, via Lindsey Thiry of ESPN. “Still don’t really know what it was. I just heard back spasms, so I kind of know how that is.” PFT
Chargers played all their starters vs the Broncos... lost, 31-28, got beat up and Williams injured. Not sure what they were thinking. Brandon Staley needs to be smarter. Besides. they were already locked in at the #5 seed... no reason to do what they did, period.
Incredible feat by the Lions. Lions were eliminated and still go in Green Bay and beat the Packers who had everything to play for... Thank you, Lions! Let the whining begin in Green Bay... Cue - Aaron Rodgers.
Forget revenue, don't you think it becomes a competitive disadvantage when you have to play a playoff game Monday night, then return the next week to play someone that has an extra day of rest? This is the playoffs. I don't understand why they don't keep it all fair. Play ALL NFC games on Saturday and ALL AFC games on Sunday. It will get worked out during the two week layoff between the Conference Championship games and the Super Bowl. At the very least, have both conference championship games on that Sunday, at least all the NFC teams would be under the same 7 day off structure. I just don't feel the need for MNF involving the playoffs. I would rather see equity. Wild Card Weekend: (3) games on Saturday, (3) games on Sunday Divisional Round: (2) games on Saturday, (2) games on Sunday Conference Championships: (2) Games on Sunday Super Bowl Sunday
Big day for BYU running backs. Until yesterday, no former BYU runner had ever hit 1000 yards in a season in the NFL. Yesterday Tyler Allgeier topped the mark for Atlanta (and broke the team rookie rushing record, held by William Andrews), and a few hours later Jamaal Williams hit the mark for Detroit (and broke Barry Sanders' team record for TDs in a season).
Oh, I have an idea why, but my Granddad taught me that if i didnt have anything nice to say, dont say it.
You don't think he's considering retirement, eh? Key... Rodgers has traded jerseys with other players many times before. But his last game jersey of the season at age 39, he says he's hanging on to THIS one.
I think thats a good possibility... even maybe hooking up with another QB depleted team, that wouldnt surprise me either. More than likely, why would he give to Williams when in Aarons mind, it might return big bucks or enshrinement in the HOF?
Something like that crossed my mind too - if they want MNF for the playoffs, they should do a doubleheader rather than one game, with the winners facing each other the following Sunday. At least that way there's a competitive balance on the short week.
J.J. Watt on retirement: 'I know I still can (play), I'm just choosing not to' J.J. Watt's two-sack performance Sunday won't sway the future Hall of Famer from changing his mind about retirement. "I know I still can (play)," Watt said, per the team's official website. "I'm just choosing not to." Watt indeed showed he can still play, sacking 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy twice in Arizona's loss to San Francisco on Sunday and adding five tackles (three for loss) and a pass defensed. In the final game of his 12-year career, Watt was constantly in the backfield, generating five QB pressures; no other Cardinal had more than one. When healthy, Watt, 33, showed he still has juice left, generating 12.5 sacks in 2022. Since Week 6, Watt has had 43 QB pressures, tied for most among defensive tackles with Javon Hargrave and DeForest Buckner. Sunday, Watt was afforded a walk-off moment, being subbed out at the two-minute warning as officials held up play for the star defender to receive a standing ovation from the fans in Santa Clara. "He was a problem throughout the game for us in the run game and the pass game," Niners coach Kyle Shanahan said of Watt. "But for it to slow down there at the end and for him to have his moment where he could walk off, I think everyone in this country respects the hell out of him for what he's done on and off the field. He's an all-time great." Watt could still play if he wanted, and plenty of teams would benefit from his leadership and ability. But after battling injuries that untracked his career following three Defensive Player of the Year awards, Watt will walk away with gas still left in the tank. It's how a great player should go out: on his own terms. NFL.com _______ ________________ A class act, going out on his terms. The game was in Frisco, not Arizona as the poster typed, lol.
I don't think going to another team is in the cards. If the Packers trade him, his cap number accelerates to $68.155M in 2023.
He can certainly facilitate a trade if he decides he wants to play somewhere else. But yeah otherwise it’s either another year in GB or retirement.
