That could be, but with this class, I don't think there is much difference between the top 5-6 players. It is more about team needs than ever before that I can remember. NO QBs are worthy of a ransom trade up, so I don't think the Jags are going to get much if they truly desire to trade out of the top spot. Difference in pay from #1 to #5 is also a factor - $7M per year difference in contract between #1 and #5 overall.. $19M difference between #1 and #10. The problem lies in the fact that for the most part, there is no consensus #1 player in this draft. Just 3 weeks ago, the now consensus #1 based on rumors out of Jaguars camp, Travon Walker, was anywhere on talking head boards from top 3 overall to just outside the top 10. Truth is, teams haven't different values on all the supposed top ten players. But no one has separated himself from the others. There isn't even consensus among position groups. Any given position group has 3 different names being argued as best in class. Edge; Travon Walker, Aidan Hutchinson or Kayvon Thibodeaux? Or... George Karlaftis or Jermaine Johnson even.. No one agrees who is ranked in what order.. Wide Receiver; Garret Wilson, Jameson Williams or Drake London, seem to be the top 3, but no one has them in the same order...even I don't agree with this, I think Chris Olave is the best of the best and Treylon Burks is right there as well. Offensive Tackle; Evan Neal, Ikem Ekwonu or Charles Cross, you want to talk about a toss up.. These guys are almost interchangeable. CB is the most recognized top players at the position, but even if you have an opinion between Sauce or Stingley.. Booth and McDuffie aren't really THAT far behind them. Out of all the names above, I would say ALL are rated higher than all the QBs... Value of the top 3 picks are at an all time low for this draft. However, the value of talent for this draft, imho is very high. I would only rate about 20 players at a first round value in comparison to an average draft class, but I would put another 50-55 in a second round value compared to an average draft class. There are players that will go in the 3rd round that would go in the mid 2nd in a typical draft. This is a draft that will benefit multiple pick teams in the first 3 rounds, however, the top 5 picks won't see the value they typically do and the teams in the mid-lower 20s aren't going to see a typical value either compared to past classes. That's why it's going to be very hard to get, what is considered, top value for top draft picks this year. imho.
Whats interesting @IrishDawg42 is the way these draft projections by the writers have drastically changed over the last few weeks. Seems like the first round was going to be loaded with QB's and WR's... now, it looks very defensive heavy.
Alabama quarterback Bryce Young, the reigning Heisman Trophy winner and a potential first overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft, suffered an injury to his throwing shoulder today against Arkansas. Young threw a pass and immediately grimaced and held his shoulder awkwardly, then signaled to the Alabama medical staff that he needed attention and went into the injury tent. It appeared that Young may have actually injured his shoulder before that, when he landed awkwardly on his right side and grabbed his shoulder. Former NFL quarterback Gary Danielson, calling the game on CBS, said the play reminded him of an injury he suffered in his playing career. “I tore my rotator cuff on a play exactly like that,” Danielson said. “You don’t know it’s hurt until your next throw.” CBS also reported that Young was in pain and could be heard yelling loudly on the sideline. Young jogged into the locker room, and given that Alabama currently leads 21-0, it would seem very unlikely that he’ll be back on the field in today’s game against Arkansas. Football fans can only hope that Young is healthy soon enough to play for Alabama again, and certainly that his draft stock is unaffected. PFT
Alabama quarterback Bryce Young appears to be OK after leaving today’s game with an injury to his throwing shoulder. Although Young did not return to the game, Alabama coach Nick Saban said afterward that it was a shoulder sprain Young has suffered before and not a major concern. “Bryce has a little AC sprain in his shoulder,” Saban said. “We’ll have to take it day to day. I think he’s OK. He doesn’t have a serious injury. We didn’t think he could go back in today because I didn’t think he had much steam on throwing the ball. He’s had these before and in a few days it starts to respond pretty well so we’ll just have to see how it goes and play it day to day.” Young is the reigning Heisman Trophy winner and a potential first overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft.
Undefeated Eagles likely to have a high first-round draft pick, thanks to the Saints The Eagles are the NFL’s only undefeated team, but even if they keep it up and end up winning the Super Bowl, they’re likely to be in position to add one of the elite players in the 2023 NFL draft. That’s because in addition to their own first-round draft pick, the Eagles own the Saints’ first-round pick. And after the Saints fell to 2-5 on Thursday night, that would currently be the No. 4 overall pick in the 2023 draft. Philadelphia acquired New Orleans’ first-round pick in a deal in the 2022 draft that allowed the Saints to acquire a second first-round pick in this year’s draft. That same trade also shipped the Saints’ 2024 second-round pick to the Eagles, so Philly fans will be cheering for Saints losses both this year and next year. For the Eagles, it’s a great position to be in: Even if they have the 32nd overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft, they’re also going to have a high pick, perhaps in the Top 5. Eagles General Manager Howie Roseman has set up his team to win this year, and to keep winning in the future. PFT
Georgia edge rusher Nolan Smith, a likely first-round pick in the 2023 NFL draft, will miss the rest of this season with a torn pectoral muscle. Smith will be out of action for a few months and it’s currently unclear whether he’ll be able to participate in pre-draft workouts, according to multiple reports. The 6-foot-3, 235-pound Smith considered entering the 2022 NFL draft but decided to return for his senior year at Georgia, and his play early this season appeared to improve his draft stock. The injury may affect his draft status, although a pectoral injury would usually be expected to heal fully and not have any impact on Smith’s rookie year. PFT

This is a look at the Top 100, according to the site - DRAFTTEK un = undecided... DR = declared for draft. These rankings change throughout the course of time and who's actually posting them, but I thought this site does a pretty good job of at least getting the top prospects in there at a fair ranking. Just a FWIW thing for now.
Penn State Receiver Parker Washington Enters NFL Draft Nebraska Edge Rusher Ochaun Mathis Entering NFL Draft
Alabama’s Bryce Young, Ohio State’s C.J. Stroud and Kentucky’s Will Levis will land with QB-needy teams. These 3 are probably going first round and may throw a wrench in some veteran QB's chances of landing new teams?
wow, I hadn’t seen he declared.. that’s probably a mistake with the expected draft class. Not because of ability, but the lack of success from the Gators. He’s the leader of the team and hasn’t elevated them. The 3 QBs we are talking about have all elevated their team as a whole. I don’t believe he will disrupt their draft projections. It’s going to be a fun off season.
Well I started my scouting in earnest today for the 2023 class. I started with Edge rushers. Pretty deep group this year it appears. Already found an over-rated, under-rated, and IDFK guy for this class. I’m excited to get back to it. Also I checked 4 different sites today for top 100 lists and one thing that jumped out and amused me, Smith-Njigba landed between 23-26 on every list. Found that a bit unusual. A couple guys early on who were much higher/lower depending on source were Joey Porter Jr (PSU CB), Siaki Ika (Baylor DT), and Tanner McKee (Stanford QB). Purely based on site projections I’m expecting to be underwhelmed with the TE and LB groups. Hope I’m wrong, especially for those of us in MyFantasyLeague IDP TE-Premium leagues.
Trenton Simpson outa Clemson and Noah Sewell outs Oregon could go top 20 in the Draft at the LB positions... I agree with, RT tho, not very deep at those 2 positions as far as clear-cut, top notch, R1 prospects. If that makes any sense. Im not really Draft savvy, but i do have a PC that tells me so, lol.
Should be interesting Edge, QB, and OT groups this year though. WR too looks like it’s got something to work with. I think there’s probably 4+ CBs regarded pretty highly also. Haven’t got into the meat and potatoes of it all yet. East-West Shrine and Senior Bowls usually amp up my efforts. But I’m getting into the mid rounds at Edge first. I would save all the skill positions until the end, if not for the fact my bro starts asking me fantasy questions early. So maybe I’ll dip into a thin TE group second this year.
Luke Schoonmaker will enter 2023 draft University of Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh may be heading to the NFL in 2023 and tight end Luke Schoonmaker is definitely making the jump. Schoonmaker has one year of eligibility left in Ann Arbor, but he he announced on Monday that he will be giving it up in order to enter the professional ranks. “Coach Harbaugh and a lot of the offensive coaches have given me the confidence that I’m ready for the next level, and I’ve developed into a complete tight end,” Schoonmaker told Pete Thamel of ESPN.com. “I’m at that point where I can now begin the process for the next level. With that guidance and the guidance of others, it’s that time.” Schoonmaker had 35 catches for 418 yards and three touchdowns for the Wolverines this season. He also drew strong reviews for his blocking and his ability to make plays in both areas should help him find a home in the NFL. PFT ___________ _____________________ This guy is good at the TE position. I think i seen every Michigan game this season and he is the real deal.
