The most disturbing part is involving the defibrilator and CPR. The way his head hit the ground, concussion is obvious - but this goes far beyond a concussion. Sudden heart dysfunction suggests major brain trauma/hemorrhage.
His family was there. They reportedly came down from the stands and went with him in the ambulance. At least that's one small blessing - he's not alone.
Whatever the outcome is for Hamlin and Im praying for the best, this game should have been called a loooong time ago... The NFL is fucking beyond stupid at this moment.
Could be they're working out whether to cancel it entirely or finish it another day and waiting to make that announcement before they officially call it a night.
They can’t cancel it because of the playoff implications. But some how they need to play it later this week.
Traumatic brain injury can cause that. The totally non-medical way to describe it is that the impact to the brain causes the heart to think it's not needed anymore, so the heart shuts down.
NFL got it right in the end. Stupid to think that they initially planned to give the teams 5 minutes to regroup and get it together.
I say cancel it now. Let the play-off chips fall where they may. I don't see another way around if unless the guy walks out of the hospital tomorrow.
I watched it a few times on YouTube and it doesn’t seem like a hit that would cause this. Just must have been a strike in the wrong place.
Working when my phone blew up about Hamlin. I went and found the hit as far as they go I have seen much worse. Hope he is okay.
I wonder if there was a hit earlier in the game that put him in danger, but didn’t show in him until that hit.
Where do you go from here? This sport somehow is getting more dangerous. All the head protection couldn’t do anything to prevent this. They have to come up with much better helmets.
Ryan Clark making sense for the first time. I’ve heard him talk a lot and usually I can’t agree with anything he says. Tonight he actually makes valid points.
What is the NFL? A guy dies on the field, when you need cpr you’re dead, and they want the players to take a few minutes to gather themselves and get back to playing the game. No one knows the condition of the player but they want them to get back on the field. There shouldn’t have even been the possibility of the game continuing with the circumstances that Hamlin left the field, but the league was ready to have the game continue. I’m wondering if there is any reason to continue watching this heartless organization anymore? No way any of the bills could have played and I’m sure the bengals couldn’t either. The league is so much about money that they can’t make a rational decision? Football players lives matter. Just because they get paid millions of dollars doesn’t mean they aren’t human. The league really lets their greed rule their policies.
I honestly don't think he hurt his head. The blow to the chest might have done something to his heart rhythm and the moment he stood up and blood wasn't pumping he fainted. If the game is played they would likely do so on Wednesday.
