No question he struggled in Carolina under Matt Rhule who proved to be one of the worst coaches in the NFL (and first to get fired in this year's coaching carousel). Stefanski sabotaged him to get rid of him and Rhule couldn't coach in the NFL to save his life, but in less than 48 hours he gets a win with a guy like Sean McVay. It's almost like coaching matters?

As far as the cutting, it wasn't a surprise. He struggled there, was injured, was benched, and would have cost the Panthers a higher compensatory pick if he stuck around.

    It’s time……….

To put Brisset back in until Watson can actually beat him out as the better QB.

How much better do you think Jacoby would have played with 98 yards in penalties "helping" him?

I think quite a bit but not that that matters for this game with all the penalties. Watson may scramble more/better but when he gets sacked it’s because he has no pocket feel and stands like a statue for way too long waiting for someone to get open. Still missing some easy throws too. Until the rust is gone, give Brisset the ball.

Also, I completely agree with you. It was sloppy play on both sides of the ball. The offense was rather predictable and uninspired.

The penalties were being called a little one sided against the Browns. The Bengals had more than a few holds that went uncalled as well as two face masks that I saw. That’s the breaks though. Gotta cut down on the stupid penalties.

Bold of you to assume he could.

But, how does he unrust himself without game action?

    Curious and just passing by...

I hate being "that guy", but who the hell cares at this point. I hate the fact he is on the team, but he isn't going back to the bench, the season is over. 4 games behind the Ravens and Bengals with 4 games to go. 2 games behind the Patriots in the final wild card spot(they own the tie breaker on us), and behind 6 OTHER teams in the wild card race (4 of which hold tie breakers on us). Some of which play each other so they can't both lose.

The Browns are building the chemistry to go into the offseason. IF they lose out, Stefanski could lose his job, that's about the only thing undecided at this point. If he wins a game or two, he's safe and they go quietly into the off season playing with their draft board sim to see who might be available in the late 30's to early 40's (If the season ended today, they would pick #43). They won't be players in free agency other than to replace some of the starters in 2022 with cheaper alternatives.

I hate being Debbie Downer, but this has been the least amount of fun I have ever had as a Browns fan in season..(**remember, we went 1-31**). It's an even bleaker off season. I am spending my off season trying to figure out if I can reconcile the fact he is playing on the team for the next 4 years.. If I can do that, I'll be back... If not, I'll enjoy reading your posts.

So, you want Brissett re-instated as the starter for the rest of the year?

No. I care about how the Browns do. The last time I looked, they're still a 53 man team.

    What does this even mean?

If you care how the Browns do currently, then they should have stuck with Jacoby Brissett who's currently playing much better than Groper Cleveland. If you care about how the Browns do in 2023, then sure... stick Arm Kelly out there and let him knock off the rust. (Spoiler ahead: he's always been a game manager who had impressive stats in an atrocious division but never moved the needle more than Brock Osweiler could - who didn't even last a regular season game on the Browns 0-16 roster.)

It's a "53 man team" and this current regime has now pissed away two years of their prime. How many of those "53 men" are going to continue to be satisfied with this? How many look to have already quit on the team because of it?

If I'm one of those 53 men I would be really upset if you brought all this negative attention to the team, gave up all those assets and then didn't play the guy.

No doubt in my mind the Browns would take a mulligan on this trade if they could but it's done. Pretty sure Lym just wants to move forward. There really aren't any alternatives to that.

It's moot anyway... they're eliminated from Playoffs so win or lose, the next four games are just extended preseason for #4.

In all honesty, I wouldn't bet on it. This is a group that seems unwilling or unable to admit their own mistakes, is allergic to accountability, and still considers themselves the smartest guys in the room. The owner, specifically, has been utterly tone-deaf though this whole fiasco and no one can argue that if Jimmy wants it, he doesn't get it.

I talked about this on another thread re: the hellacious cap situation they're going to be in, but the Browns really out here paying Myles Garrett, Denzel Ward, and John Johnson $75 million (1/3 of the total cap) in 2023 just to be the 28th ranked defensive unit. They stood by Joe Wood for the last three seasons, gotta throw out the players if you're gonna consistently show the fealty to the coordinator instead.
