Sunday Night Football: Cowboys too much for Colts in fourth quarter of a 54-19 beatdown

The Colts held on as long as they could, but the dyke finally broke, and when it did, it was a flood of points.

The Colts trailed 21-19 heading into the fourth quarter. They lost 54-19 as the Cowboys scored the fifth-most points in team history with a barrage of points in the final period.

Dallas improved to 9-3, while Indianapolis fell to 4-8-1.

The Colts had four turnovers in the fourth quarter and five for the game. The Cowboys scored 33 points in the fourth quarter, including a 38-yard scoop-and-score by ex-Colts safety Malik Hooker. (Hooker also had a first half interception.)

It was all fun and games for the Cowboys in the final stanza.

Their final three offensive scoring drives covered 53, 72 and 29 yards following two interceptions by DaRon Bland and a fumble recovery by Sam Williams.

Matt Ryan finished 21-of-37 for 233 yards with two touchdowns and three interceptions, and Jonathan Taylor ran for 82 yards on 22 carries. Ryan was sacked three times.

Dak Prescott was 20-of-30 for 170 yards, three touchdowns and an interception. CeeDee Lamb caught five passes for 71 yards and a touchdown, and Michael Gallup had four receptions for 23 yards and two touchdowns.

Tony Pollard had 12 carries for 91 yards and two touchdowns, and Ezekiel Elliott ran for 77 yards and a touchdown on 17 tries.

Steelers DT Cam Heyward says little brother’s first TD emotional moment for him

It was awesome to see Pittsburgh Steelers rookie tight end Connor Heyward get his first NFL touchdown on Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons. Atlanta is one of the former teams of Connor’s dad Craig “Iron Head” Heyward. It was also special for Conner to have his big brother Cam Heyward there as a Steelers teammate.

Seems like it was pretty special for Cam as well. After the Steelers 19-16 win, the elder Heyward took the podium in one of his dad’s Falcon jerseys and said he hadn’t talked to Connor about the touchdown yet but said he was glad the camera wasn’t on him when he scored because he was a mess.

Cant imagine how cool that would be... Family first has always been my motto and it was a pleasure to see this story and others like it in the NFL.

33 points in 1 quarter is more than most teams scored in a game (only the lions with 40 and the eagles with 35 scored more). I think the 54 they put up beat all but 1 game in combined score. Good day to be a cowboys fan.

Mike Vrabel, Titans 'at a crossroads' after back-to-back losses: 'It's a critical time for us'

The Tennessee Titans lost their second straight game to a playoff contender Sunday, getting steamrolled by the Philadelphia Eagles.

Coach Mike Vrabel said after the 35-10 defeat that if his club isn't careful, it could slide into oblivion.

"I think we're at a crossroads," Vrabel said. "I told the team I think we're at a crossroads with kind of how we want to continue down this season. We can't point fingers. We have to assume that each and every one of us didn't do a good enough job -- because we didn't. We have to come to work with greater energy and greater resolve to prepare to win a football game against a division opponent.

"It sucks losing. It sucks getting beat the way we did. But we got to make a decision. How much we are willing to invest and trust in what the coaches are doing, trust in what the other players are doing? I think it's a critical time for us."

Thanks to a good coaching staff, Vrabel's club has played over its head for much of the season. But losses to the Eagles and Cincinnati Bengals have highlighted the talent discrepancy -- particularly with injuries on defense -- with the upper-echelon teams.

Tennessee's secondary got bullied by former Titan A.J. Brown, as Philly racked up 453 total yards of offense. The offense couldn't find the right gear, with Derrick Henry held to just 30 yards on 11 carries and Ryan Tannehill sacked a season-high six times.

Luckily for the 7-5 Titans, playing in the AFC South has its benefits, as they sit as the only team with more than four victories. It would take an epic collapse -- coupled with another division rival going on a winning streak -- for Tennessee to miss the postseason. But making noise in January is another story

"We're going to find out what we're about," Tannehill said. "I think we have a resilient group. We're tough and we have bounced back from a lot before, and I believe we'll bounce back from this.

"At the end of the day, this one's done. It stings. It hurts. We're all disappointed. We're all frustrated. Mad. Angry. Every emotion you can name. But we have to be able to get over it and get ready to go win the next one."

The next one is a home date against the Jacksonville Jaguars, who just got blown out, 40-14, on the road in Detroit.

The TD Conner scored was his first TD in the NFL.
The first TD of Ironhead Heyward’s career was on exactly the same pass route as Conner’s . When you consider Ironhead that’s a freaky coincidence.
They showed the two plays on Steelers Depot and they looked the same except that Ironhead was a lot heavier.

" but the dyke finally broke " = a rather unfortunate typo by PFT.

Great job catching the original version of this and posting it here before PFT fixed it !

Baker Mayfield is hitting the waiver wire.

Question for the group: suppose you're the mock GM of the Seahawks. The 49ers are only one game ahead of you in the division race, and you have a rematch with them coming up in two weeks. They just lost Jimmy G.

As Seattle GM, would you put in a claim for Mayfield just to block San Francisco from getting him?
