The Minnesota Vikings second-round pick Andrew Booth Jr. had surgery on his meniscus on Monday and the outcome wasn’t going to be known until later due to the nature of the surgery.

On Tuesday, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported that Booth Jr. was officially out for the season.

The news shouldn’t come as a big surprise, as a meniscus injury is better to fully repair than to trim and have him come back quickly. The usual timeline for a full repair is between 4-6 months.

The good news though is that Cameron Dantzler looks to be returning from injured reserve soon as he works his way back for an ankle injury. They could use him back in the fold so they don’t have to play their depth guys as much.

What a mess players that you thought might be of some help cause they have to get younger there out for the season, looks like it could be a GIGANTIC sore spot for the Minnesota Vikings

Vikings “not really putting a timetable” on Christian Darrisaw’s return

Vikings left tackle Christian Darrisaw did not play on Thanksgiving because of a concussion and head coach Kevin O’Connell didn’t offer much of an idea about when he might be back when he spoke to reporters on Wednesday.

Darrisaw’s most recent concussion came days after he had been cleared from one he suffered the previous weekend and O’Connell said the team is going to take as long as necessary to be sure that Darrisaw is 100 percent.

“We want him feeling great and at full capacity when he’s able to come back,” O’Connell said, via Kevin Seifert of ESPN.com. “And not really putting a timetable on it for either this week or beyond . . . We just want to make sure he’s good. I think when the time’s right we’ll have CD back in there.”

O’Connell is more optimistic about having defensive tackle Dalvin Tomlinson back from a calf injury. Tomlinson last played in Week Eight.

Justin Jefferson is the NFC offensive player of the month

November has been very, very good to Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson over the last two years.

The NFL announced on Thursday that Jefferson has been named the NFC’s offensive player of the month for November. Jefferson took the same prize last November, so it’s definitely his time of the year.

Jefferson’s biggest highlight of last month came against the Bills in Week 10. That’s when he used one hand to grab the ball away from Bills defensive back Cam Lewis to convert a long fourth down and keep the Vikings’ hope alive in a game that they eventually won in overtime.

Jefferson had 10 catches for 193 yards and a touchdown in those games. For the month, he had 29 catches for 480 yards and three touchdowns while helping the Vikings to a 3-1 record.

He’s one yard off the league leader for yards. 1232-1233, and is on pace for 1900 yards.

Kid who dressed up as Kirk Cousins in chain will be back at Vikings game on Sunday

The Vikings have found themselves a kid who may end up being part mascot, part good-luck charm.

Via Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press, the boy who attended last Thursday’s Patriots-Vikings game without a shirt and with a bunch of chains (an homage to quarterback Kirk Cousins on the plane home after last month’s win at Washington) will be present Sunday’s game against the Jets as a guest of the team.

Lincoln Gustafon, who turns eight on Sunday, will make the drive from Denver, Iowa to Minneapolis with his family for the game.

Lincoln got the word in a Thursday Zoom call from Cousins. The Vikings have posted clips from the exchange in social media.

The Vikings have two more home games after this one. If they win, they’ll need to bring Lincoln back for Week 15 against the Colts, and Week 16 against the Giants.

    Tough break here...

Vikings rookie cornerback Akayleb Evans returned to action on Sunday, after exiting the concussion protocol. He’s now back in it.

Coach Kevin O’Connell told reporters on Monday that Evans is back in the protocol, and that he has been ruled out for Sunday against the Lions.

Evans, a fourth-round pick, has suffered three concussions this year, including two only three weeks apart. He has two starts this season, in the Week 10 win over the Bills and in Sunday’s victory over the Jets.

O’Connell stressed that “it’s about his health and always will be about that.”

The Vikings have been thin at cornerback in recent weeks. O’Connell said that, before Evans plays again, they want to be “100 percent” sure that it’s the right time for him to return.

Vikings put Akayleb Evans, Ben Ellefson on IR

The Vikings ruled cornerback Akayleb Evans out for this week with a concussion and Wednesday brought word that he is going to be out for an extended period of time.

Evans suffered his third concussion of the season and second in as many weeks during last Sunday’s win over the Jets. Evans started against the Jets and had six tackles.

The fourth-round pick started one other game and had 19 tackles and a forced fumble in 10 total appearances. Cam Dantzler was designated for return from injured reserve this week and could return as soon as this Sunday against the Lions.

The Vikings also placed tight end Ben Ellefson on injured reserve. Ellefson was activated off injured reserve last week, but is continuing to have issues with his groin injury.

Alexander Mattison receives fine for touchdown celebration

Vikings running back Alexander Mattison celebrated his 14-yard touchdown run with a fake hamstring injury and twerking.

He expressed confidence earlier this week that the NFL wouldn’t fine him because the NFL shared it on its social media channels and on its TV network.

But the league docked him $6,503, Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reports.

“They share it like crazy… then fine you like crazy,” Mattison said on social media. “And I just wanna know who sits there and comes up with these random number amounts for fines.”

Mattison has tied his single-season career highs with three rushing touchdowns and four total touchdowns this season. He has 61 touches for 252 yards.

I thought he was hurt... for about 3 seconds. NFL is being as silly as its players. The Cowboys that jumped into the Salvation Army kettle were fined also. Guess the NFL better come out with a docket on what you can and cant do when given permission to be creative.

10-3 Vikings have given up more points than they have scored

The Vikings are 9-0 in one-score games. They’re 1-3 in games decided by two or more scores. And that has giving the Vikings a dubious distinction when it comes to total scoring.

As noted by Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press, the Vikings are the first team in NFL history to have a record of 10-3 — and to have surrendered more points than they have scored.

It’s 312 for the Vikings, 313 for the opponents.

And it’s no surprise, given that the Vikings are currently dead last in total defense. That has happened twice before: 1961, the team’s first season in the NFL, and 1984, the disastrous Les Steckel 3-13 campaign.

The Vikings also set a franchise record on Sunday with five straight games of more than 400 yards of offense allowed.

Yes, they’re still 10-3. Yes, it would be beyond stunning if they don’t make it to the playoffs. But it’s very hard to see them making it past the divisional round. And it’s virtually impossible to take them seriously as a Super Bowl contender.
