The Bills have made it to Detroit.

Amid a historic snowstorm in Buffalo, Sunday’s Browns-Bills game was moved to Ford Field, home of the Lions. But finding a new venue for the game wasn’t the end of the concerns, as the snow situation in Buffalo is so severe that there were questions about whether the Bills would be able to get out of Buffalo.



Fortunately, every Bills player and coach was able to make it to the airport today, and the team plane was able to depart. According to online flight trackers, the team plane landed minutes ago.

Now the Bills will rest after an exhausting week and kick off their “home” game at Ford Field at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday. The Bills plan to fly home after the game, and then fly back to Detroit on Wednesday for their Thanksgiving game against the Lions.

Dre Greenlaw fined $10,609 for hit on Justin Herbert

49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw has been fined for the hit on Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert that led him to be ejected from last Sunday’s game.

PFT has confirmed that Greenlaw was fined $10,609 for the hit to Herbert’s head.


Senior vice president Walt Anderson said that Greenlaw was ejected for committing “a flagrant act” by “lowering his head and making forcible contact” to Herbert’s head. Anderson noted that Herbert was “down by contact” at the time of the hit as well.

49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said he was “blown away” by the decision to eject Greenlaw, but Anderson’s response and the league’s fine of Greenlaw make it clear that there was no disagreement from the home office.

Chiefs wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster will not play against the Chargers on Sunday night because of a concussion he suffered in last Sunday’s win over the Jaguars.

Smith-Schuster left the game after being hit by Jaguars safety Andre Cisco and the Chiefs were upset that Cisco was not penalized for a hit to the receiver’s head during the game. Referee Brad Rogers explained that decision after the game by saying officials “determined that the defender had set and braced for impact and hit shoulder-to-shoulder.”



The NFL believes Cisco should have been penalized. According to multiple reports, Cisco was fined $6,612 for unnecessary roughness this week.

Smith-Schuster did not practice at all this week and the earliest he will be back is Week 12 against the Rams.

The NFL fined Seahawks receiver DK Metcalf $29,785 for unsportsmanlike conduct.

Officials penalized Metcalf for arguing with an official over an uncalled defensive pass interference penalty in the end zone early in the third quarter Sunday.


Metcalf twice pointed a finger at the official.

On third-and-eight from the Tampa Bay 22, Geno Smith tried to hit Metcalf on a fade route in the end zone. The pass was incomplete, but Metcalf believed Bucs defensive back Jamel Dean interfered with him. The only flag called was for Metcalf arguing.

Metcalf finished with six catches for 71 yards in the team’s loss to Tampa Bay.

Keenan Allen and Mike Williams both expect to play for Chargers vs. Chiefs



The Chargers expect to have their top two wide receivers for tonight’s game against the Chiefs.

Keenan Allen and Mike Williams both expect to play on Sunday Night Football. Allen (hamstring) and Williams (ankle) were both listed as questionable, but they both plan to go, according to multiple reports.


Allen has missed seven games this season, and Williams has missed two. Having both of them healthy down the stretch would go a long way toward getting the Chargers into the playoffs.

The Chargers are 5.5-point underdogs at home against the Chiefs tonight.

Mark Andrews is expected to play for Ravens Sunday



The Ravens are set to get their leading receiver back in the lineup on Sunday.

Tight end Mark Andrews missed the team’s Week Nine win over the Saints with knee and shoulder injuries, but he practiced all of this week and multiple reports indicate that he is expected to play against the Panthers after being listed as questionable.


Andrews has 42 catches for 488 yards and five touchdowns this season. He leads the Ravens in all three of those categories.

Quarterback Lamar Jackson (illness) and running back Gus Edwards (hamstring) were also listed as questionable. The Ravens have said Jackson will play and they did not call up another quarterback on Saturday. There are conflicting reports on Edwards’ availability and the Ravens will make an official announcement 90 minutes ahead of kickoff.

Kyler Murray, DeAndre Hopkins questionable for Monday night



Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury said on Friday that quarterback Kyler Murray will be a game-time decision for Monday night’s game against the 49ers and the team made that official on Saturday.

Murray has been listed as questionable to play through the hamstring injury that kept him out of last Sunday’s win over the Rams. Colt McCoy started that game and he was dealing with a knee injury this week, but he is off the injury report and set to play on Monday if needed.


Wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins also drew a questionable tag on Saturday. He missed practice Thursday with a hamstring injury before returning on Friday.

Offensive lineman Max Garcia (shoulder) rounds out the group of questionable players. Left tackle D.J. Humphries (back), cornerback Byron Murphy (back), and tight end Zach Ertz (knee) will not be playing in Mexico City.

Stuff like this always reminds me of the DeAngelo Hall / Steve Smith thing from the deep, dark 13 weeks of 2007 when Bobby Petrino was here on an extended layover from Louisville to Arkansas.

After a flag was thrown on the cornerback Hall, Steve Smith was in the Atlanta defensive backfield taunting him about it. As soon as Hall said something to Smith, the official who was in between threw a flag on Hall. (Apparently he believed that whatever Hall said was being said to him, not the opposing player who had no business being there but was standing right behind him.)

Carolina went on to score the game-deciding touchdown on that drive, and that was the start of Falcons fans turning against their two-time Pro Bowl cornerback. At that time (it was still only Week 3 of the new season) many fans blamed the multiple penalties on Hall on that drive for the loss rather than the idiotic coaching by that hog-sooey imbecile Petrino.

The following year, Hall felt backstabbed by the new regime (and to some degree, he had a legit beef). He decided he didn't want to play for yet another first time head coach and publicly demanded a trade. Dimitroff passed him over to the Raiders for a second round pick and a future 5th round pick. And when the Falcons played the Raiders, Matt Ryan absolutely torched Hall. The Raiders released him not long afterwards, and he ended up in Washington.

Lions, Colts? wtf

 

Cordarrelle Patterson is the NFL’s all-time record holder for kickoff return touchdowns.

Patterson took a kickoff three yards deep in the end zone and ran it back 103 yards for a touchdown today against the Bears. That was the ninth kickoff return touchdown of Patterson’s career.

And that’s a new NFL record. Patterson previously shared the career record for kickoff return touchdowns with Josh Cribbs and Leon Washington, both of whom retired with eight kickoff return touchdowns.

Patterson’s record might never be broken. No other active player has more than three kickoff return touchdowns, and NFL rules changes are making kickoff return touchdowns less common. It’s even possible that the kickoff will eventually disappear from football altogether.

But Patterson’s accomplishments are now enshrined in the NFL record book, where he has a place all his own.

Eagles stage comeback to beat Colts



The Eagles did what it took to stage a comeback, culminating with a Jalen Hurts touchdown run, and Philadelphia leaves Indianapolis with a 17-16 win.

Hurts was excellent running the ball, with 84 yards on the ground, and he was efficient if not spectacular passing, completing 18 of 25 passes for 190 yards, with one touchdown and no interceptions.

Colts quarterback Matt Ryan completed 23 of 32 passes for 213 yards in a losing effort. Ryan is not a great quarterback at this point in his career, but he’s certainly the option who gives the Colts the best chance to win, and interim head coach Jeff Saturday made the right call going back to him as the Colts’ starter.

With the loss, the Colts are now 4-6-1 on the season, and they’re probably not going to make the playoffs, but this is the second straight week they’ve played well for Saturday.

The Eagles improve to 9-1 on the season, and they remain among the elite teams in the league. Especially with the way Hurts can lead them, both with his legs and with his arm.

The Commanders didn’t face much resistance in Houston, winning for the fifth time in the past six games to climb above .500. Their 23-10 win over the Texans gives Washington a 6-5 record.

Washington has not been over .500 this late in the season since 2018.
