The Buffalo Bills had 12 men on the field in OT and got away with it. Every week there are plays at the end of close games with bad calls and noncalls. The men in stripes should not be allowed to decide the outcome of games. The players in uniform should. Holding is a different animal. Yeah there's technically holding on every play but holding isn't the same every play. There's tackling a guy and there's grabbing a little bit of jersey. Holding a guys arm down or holding him by his shoulder pad that's sticking out. Talking about holding in this conversation is just a distraction. Let's talk about obvious pass interference and grabbing the facemask. Things that can't even be argued against because they are so obvious. When the NFL consistently releases memos to teams week after week saying yes you're right we got that call wrong....there's a problem. If the Fox, CBS, ESPN, and Amazon can show replays of bad calls immediately after they happen.....bring in a retired referee to give his opinion....all before the next play happens....how is an official up in the booth making rulings independent of those on the field gonna ruin the game? Mike Pereira can get the calls right sitting in front of a monitor in a studio but the NFL can't hire someone to do the same exact thing while sitting in the booth? I don't buy it.
At least review every questionable or game changing play under 2 minutes to go, Id even go for the 5 minute mark of the 4th quarter. They do that for scoring plays (under 2 minutes), so, in my opinion, it wouldnt hurt the game if they took a minute to get a call right in crunch time.
Philadelphia Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert will miss extended time with a shoulder injury he suffered during Monday night's loss to the Washington Commanders, NFL Network Insiders Mike Garafolo and Tom Pelissero reported Tuesday, per sources. Garafolo and Pelissero added that Goedert's injury won't end his season.
I saw the non catch by buffaloe about ten times before the Bills ran a play yet the replay official who was the only person who could ask for a review didn’t ask for one. What makes you think that that same person can get it right any other time? That’s why I say don’t do it, these guys are morons that can’t get it right anyway.
Cooper Kupp to have tightrope surgery on injured ankle Rams receiver Cooper Kupp may have avoided a worst-case scenario with his ankle injury. But Los Angeles’ best offensive player will still be out for several weeks. Head coach Sean McVay told reporters on Tuesday that Kupp will undergo tightrope surgery for his high-ankle sprain and will be placed on injured reserve. While Kupp’s surgery will require about five-to-six weeks for him to recover, McVay did not rule Kupp out for the rest of the season. Kupp will have to spend at least four weeks on IR. A six-week absence would have Kupp back in time for the last games of the season against the Chargers and Seahawks. But with the Rams at 3-6 heading into Sunday’s game at New Orleans, it’s in many ways hard to see Los Angeles playing meaningful games in Weeks 17 and 18. Kupp was last year’s AP offensive player of the year after leading the league with 145 catches, 1,947 yards, and 16 receiving touchdowns. He then caught 33 passes for 478 yards with six touchdowns in four postseason games as the Rams won Super Bowl LVI and he took home Super Bowl MVP. In 2022, Kupp has 75 catches for 812 yards with six touchdowns. Without Kupp, Allen Robinson likely becomes the top receiving option for L.A. But with Kupp, the team is just 29th in points scored and 31st in total yards. PFT
So when there's a problem that is directly influencing the result of games....just ignore it? Sorry, can't get on board with that.
They don’t review things when they can now. What makes you think they will do better with more responsibility?
Whatever the NFL tells the officials to put a focus on....they always end up putting a focus on. Why would this be any different?
Packers and Cowboys attracted the biggest audience of the season... shows how dumb people are as clearly the Vikings at Bills should have won.
My thought... allow the coaches to challenge ANYTHING that would change the outcome of the play. Instead of a time out, you lose 5 yards for a delay of game penalty if you lose the challenge. If it's important enough for the coach to risk 5 yards over it, then it's important enough to look at. The number of challenges is not limited - lose all the yards you want. To avoid coaches abusing it to stop the clock, if the offense challenges and the clock was running before, a lost challenge also incurs a 10 second runoff PLUS the clock starts at the ref's whistle. If it's the defense that challenges when the clock was running, it starts running again at the ref's whistle.
The Eagles’ talks with defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh went well. According to multiple reports, the NFC East leaders have agreed to terms with Suh on a one-year deal. A report on Thursday revealed that the team has been in talks with the veteran about joining their defensive line. Suh spent the last three seasons with Tampa and helped the team win Super Bowl LV after the 2020 season. The Eagles have eyes on ending their season the same way and they obviously believe Suh can help them reach that goal. The move comes a day after the Eagles signed Linval Joseph, so they’ve doubled down on veteran additions to the interior while rookie Jordan Davis is on the injured reserve list. Fletcher Cox is also part of the mix at defensive tackle, so the Eagles will be very deep once everyone is healthy and settled with the team.
I was out a line, shouldnt have said that... so I apologize. I was under the influence and lost my head for a moment. Fritz Pollard Association. Truly am sorry.
Thursday Night Football: Titans roll over Packers 27-17 to move to 7-3 The Packers overcame a 14-point fourth-quarter deficit on Sunday, beating the Cowboys in overtime. They couldn’t come back down 10 in the fourth quarter Thursday night. The Titans led from start to finish, dominating the Packers in a 27-17 victory that wasn’t that close. Tennessee moved to 7-3, while Green Bay fell to 4-7. The Packers ended a five-game losing streak with a 31-28 victory over the Cowboys four days ago. They couldn’t keep the momentum going. Derrick Henry ran for a touchdown and threw a touchdown pass and topped 1,000 rushing yards for the season; Austin Hooper caught two touchdown passes; and Ryan Tannehill threw for 333 yards. Titans defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons, who was questionable to play with an ankle injury, had a quiet night until it mattered most. On the Packers’ final drive, which began with 4:54 left, Simmons sacked Aaron Rodgers for a 12-yard loss. Then, two plays later on fourth-and-one, Simmons stopped Aaron Jones for no gain. The Titans outgained the Packers 408 to 271. Henry had 87 yards on 28 carries, scoring on a 4-yard run, caught two passes for 45 yards and completed both passes he attempted, including a 3-yard jump pass to Hooper. Titans rookie receiver Treylon Burks caught seven passes for 111 yards, including a 51-yard reception at the two-minute warning when the Packers least expected Tennessee to throw. Rodgers struggled much of the night, going 24-of-39 for 227 yards, though he did throw two touchdown passes to rookie Christian Watson. Watson, who had three touchdowns against the Cowboys on Sunday, had four receptions for 48 yards. PFT
