Steelers Draft and Mel Kiper sucks thread!!

I'll split the difference and say they draft at seven. I'm happy enough with Highsmith and Watt. I think the best OL or DL available is the best bet. Two high number 2 picks could shore up a lot.

 

I’m banging the table for OL and DL. Deep class wait on CB.

Jack Campbell will not light up the combine with his #’s. But watch Iowa and he just stands out. They need a LB who can drop and tackle in the box. Bush is garbage and Jack is a rental. I’ll be watching TN vs GA and keeping an eye on LB Jeremy Banks who is a Swiss Army knife LB. Jerome Carvin is an OG I want to see face the Bulldogs DT Jalen Carter. This is easily the game of the week. CBS @ 3:30 this Saturday bring your popcorn and your note pad .

 

Also at noon let’s see who the top OT in the draft is when Ohio Sate visits Northwestern. Peter Skoronski or Paris Johnson Jr. The opposite side of Johnson is another OT Dawand Jones but really RT only & they inked Chuks for far too long IMHO. Plus he has issues keeping his weight down. That game is noon on ABC.
Keep an eye out for the Syracuse OT Matthew Bergeron. Syracuse plays Pitt at 3:30 at The big Ketchup Bottle. Pitt OT Carter Warren is done for the season. Injury undisclosed.

 

Sup Bites! You know I always love your takes on prospects. First round you have your choice of best DL or best OL who are you taking, I think you would lean DL but want to hear your take obviously. I think the OL is a little deeper this year.

 

If Steelers are picking top
7 then DL, top 15 then OL. There are some QB teams will reach for so a stud DT could fall in their laps even if they’re picking top
10.

Like about the draft is the order and position of the 3 OT. Alnd Torrence going late 1st I can totally understand

 

Just to get more into your opinion - Not a priority or a low level of priority?

With the injuries to Watt the Steelers may want to take a swing at EDGE earlier considering the lack of high impact players down the depth chart.

 

OLB is a priority, preferably somewhere in rounds 2-4. We’ve gone the last two seasons with garbage behind Watt and Highsmith. Need some quality depth behind them and dumpster diving veteran players aren’t cutting it.

 

You get a stud at DL and some of the depth problems at OLB are not as noticinle

 

it all depends on your point of view of an “Impact” player is, if the team’s defense can’t stop the run and you get a DL that turns the defense around then that’s a big impact.

 

I’m not so sure about that, pass rush has been non existent since TJ has been out. How many years was JJ out in a row, I hope this doesn’t become a string with TJ but do we take the talented insurance?? I would also like Carter, because he would sure up the middle of the DL for sure. Too many holes, that’s why we need to pile up draft picks some how.

 

I almost feel like a trade down scenario is likely this season, I don’t think we get any comp picks this year. So if something is there I can see them pulling the trigger. I can also see them staying put and getting a stud player.

 

Might have moved up a couple spots in the draft this week!

Jaguars won 3-6
Detroit won 2-6
Bears lost might have moved up in the second with that loss…….just keep losing baby!!!

 

You guys should stop counting our picks until the season is over. With the return of Watt I can see us getting to a crap kicking 7-10 or 8-9 and getting a mid first round pick.

If they managed to go 5-4 over the last 9, I'd be really shocked. Could happen but probably not.

 

Watt is a difference maker. Maybe the game slows down for Pickett over the second half of the season too. I could see us pushing for a playoff spot before I could see us picking in the top five.

 

I’m going to call it right now. If Watt stays healthy the rest of the season we don’t finish less than 7-10. Our schedule isn’t too hard for the second half of the season.

 

Watched all 3 top OT this weekend, I’m moving Skoronski ahead of Johnson. Also Considering Will Levis over Stroud & Young. I don’t like their frames they’re built like matchstick men. You know who really impressed me was Jalen Carter he took over that Tennessee game and made life miserable for Hooker.

So I see Depot also likes Carter and Torrence. The second pick in round 2 is where we disagreed. I’d go best OT available or if I went LB I’d take Sewell out of Oregon but he could be gone.

good mock only change I got is id take Jack Campbell over Zachh Pickens. Clearly taking DT at 4 overall you don’t double up this early.
