The good: the catch by Pickens Defense played good enough to win The Bad tho offense with Trubisky at QB The Ugly: Tomlin insisting on Trubisky at QB This team could be a serious contender, but Tomlin wants to prevent it by playing Trubisky. We will have a top ten draft pick if we don’t change QBs.
The whole "Trubisky doesn't have time to put the ball downfield" crap got blown out of the water last night. It's there and guys get open. They went into a shell after the first drive of the second half. Four punts and three of those were 3 and outs. I had a glimmer of hope. Not now.
You're going to love this Steelers' Mike Tomlin not considering QB change after loss to Browns on Thursday night
Quotes from a couple of callers that called into the Savern/Batch post game show last night: “You can’t run the ball and play good defense if you can’t run the ball and play good defense” “the Steelers would be 3-0 if Kenny Pickett was starting at QB” lmao to both
Our beloved Super Steelers problems are many and they are great. I’m not buying that the defenses inability to get off the field is because of the offense, the defense let the Browns have long drives after both Steelers TDs. Both units are not good. simply put they can’t stop the run on defense and can’t run the ball on offense. That’s a recipe for no better than an average team and most likely a losing season. every week changes outlooks for teams because of injury among other things but if the current situation for them and the Bills TB Miami and Eagles remain as they are today unfortunately our Super Steelers have a good chance to be 2-6 going into the bye, 1-7 if they can’t beat the Jets
I didn't watch every play last night, but I don't think that Mitch was the primary problem. Were his strengths and weaknesses on display? Absolutely. His limitations aren't good for the offense. But he also made some crucial throws on the move, and didn't have any costly turnovers. All told, I think he played a good game by his own standards. The Steelers failed in a lot of phases, and had underwhelming showings from a lot of players. Trubisky didn't lose them this game, from what I saw. He's not the guy you put in a, "come from behind" position, and with the defense allowing such ball control for the Browns, it put a lot of pressure on Trubisky's shoulders to be someone he's not. That's not his fault.
Completely agree here. I think Trubisky can be a piece of a complete team but from what I've seen the last three games and in his time with the Bears is that he'll never have the ability to do what elite QBs can, and that's to put a team on their shoulders and will them to victory. To be fair, few have that talent but with the plethora of problems that the Steelers have, Mitch can't save them. Prime Era Big Ben disguised a lot of this teams issues and now they're out there for all to see.
It was the early game this week and a good game so im gonna chip in. Good: The Catch The general game plan for the passing game constantly trying to keep Trubisky throwing on the move thru a wide variety of rollouts to both sides/moved pockets/dash pass, but also pushing the ball downfield at times to keep the Browns D honest Highsmith seemed to spend half the night behind the LOS Bush's hit on Hunt at the goalline, wow Najee Harris(good player) Bad: D as a whole got rolled. Couldn't stop the run, couldn't get off the field, couldn't pressure the QB consistently enough, couldn't force a TO At least 3 drops by the receivers, 2 of which were for medium/large gains which hurt Some poor attempts at tackling Chubb Ugly: Gideon's entire take outside of the Pickens comment lololol
Trubisky dropped 3 passes? Sorry, at least two of those were damn near perfect, DJ decided he didn’t want to get set in a hurry up situation. Trubisky has had his share of problems but if Pickett plays and they drop passes, Pickett won’t help. Pickett will be starting at some point this season, might even be next week. But this loss isn’t completely on Trubisky. Edmunds gives up 2 easy TDs, defense gives up 150+ yards on the ground and make Brisset look like Brady, but the loss is Trubisky’s. Plenty of blame to go around, not all laid at the feet of Trubisky. That being said, would not be surprised if Pickett starts the rest of the year. Will he do better? Time will tell once he gets in there.
