Buccaneers signing Cole Beasley The Buccaneers are adding a veteran wide receiver. Cole Beasley will sign with the Bucs, according to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network. Beasley will initially sign with the Buccaneers’ practice squad, but he’ll be elevated to the active roster soon. According to the report, Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady, who had been pushing to bring in another veteran wide receiver, was involved in the decision to sign Beasley. Last year with the Bills, Beasley caught 82 passes for 693 yards and one touchdown. He now joins a Buccaneers receiving corps that is good when everyone is available, but is without Mike Evans while he serves a one-game suspension, and Julio Jones while he recovers from a knee injury. Super Bowl Favs, in order according to a book: 1. Buffalo Bills 2. Kansas City Chiefs 3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers 4. Philadelphia Eagles 5. Green Bay Packers
Chargers for Tampa and maybe only not in that same order because they'd in the same conference as the top 3.
That's interesting... I think TB still has the #1 defense in the NFL, and BUF and GB are both in the top 10. PHI is in the top 16 and KC is on the outside. The team that looks like it would historically be the anomaly in this group is PHI. We're two games in and Hurts has been a fantasy stud, but I'm still seeing a player that may not be able to consistently throw the ball in crunch time. He has one passing TD on the season to go with one INT. Every other quarterback on that list has more than one, with Brady being the low man on the totem pole. If this is the year that Father Time catches up with Tom, then you may have hit the nail on the head with the team that should be dropped. The defense would be their saving grace, and they are currently sitting at 2-0 with a 'less than' Brady. He may not get it going again this week with the Packers defense coming to town, but it would be a Brady kind of thing to out duel Rodgers in a home game. Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes and Aaron Rodgers are all in situations where it's difficult to see them not being in the mix to end the year, and their play so far this season has shown they should continue to get shit done. If I had to pick one to potentially fall out of the three, it's Rodgers. I'm gonna drop the Eagles, but the add is more difficult. Hard to argue with you on the Chargers, but my gut tells me to throw the Jimmy G led 49ers up there, the safe bet is the Rams, the wildest of wildcard picks would be the Dolphins and a big part of me thinks the Bengals are going to have a big bounce back starting around week 7. I'm gonna ponder it a bit before I pick one...
I would have picked Philly if they didn't get some gift adds and actually show vast improvement. Hurts has been throwing it well. The TDs haven't come because week 1, 4 different guys ran it in. I wish they finished better vs Detroit but that offense might be for real.
OH.. Can I play, lol. Torn on the drop between Eagles and Buc's, but I'll drop the Eagles on a coin toss. My add is, the Dolphins. They are real frickin exciting on offense. If Tua stays hot and they can maintain some defense... look out. Its early tho and who knows, but this was a fun couple weeks so far.
Agreed... Joe Burrows week 1 performance left me scratching my head... a lot, but 1 game doesnt and wont make a season. 49ers with the 'G' are there, for sure. I wonder if Dallas can fit the conversation also?
DET is better than they will get credit for, but years of ineptitude will have people discrediting any noticeable improvement. Hurts looked better throwing the ball in week 2, but I’m not ready to agree that he has made much improvement slinging it from last season. His weapons make it easier for him, but I think we may learn a little more this week.
I give Detroit credit. I just figured it might have taken until the 2nd half of the season for it all to come together. They seemed 1 year away from real noise with some more experience and a couple adds. Maybe I'm still on the mark or way off one way or another but I had 2023 pegged as their year to make a splash if they don't get stuck in QB purgatory.
You could be right on that. I had the Lions as a 7 win team last season but they didn't start to get it together until too late to hit that mark. I have them as a 9 win team this season and actually picked them to win that home opener against PHI.
I guess the Bucs would be gone for me. They'll win the south by default but they look a bit listless. I'll add the Rams but put them at 5. Eagles look good. The Packers will find their way.
NFL suspends Bills’ Bobby Hart one game Bills offensive tackle Bobby Hart has been suspended for one game as a result of an incident after Monday night’s game against the Titans. The suspension was handed down by NFL Vice President of Football Operations Jon Runyan, the second suspension in the NFL this week following the suspension given to Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans. “As both teams were heading to the tunnel, you walked directly across the field to seek out your opponent,” Runyan wrote in a letter to Hart. “You approached him near the end zone and a coach had to hold you back as others shook hands. Once you and your opponent were in the end zone near the tunnel, you confronted him and immediately swung at him with a closed fist, striking the head of a Tennessee coach. Your aggressive conduct could have caused serious injury and clearly does not reflect the high standards of sportsmanship expected of a professional.” Hart has the right to appeal, but if he loses the appeal he will miss Sunday’s game against the Dolphins. Hart is a backup who has played 19 offensive snaps and 12 special teams snaps this season. PFT
Bucs’ Akiem Hicks out a month with foot injury The Buccaneers have taken a hit on their defensive line. Veteran defensive tackle Akiem Hicks tore the plantar fascia in his foot and is expected to miss a month, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. The 33-year-old Hicks signed with the Bucs in June and has started both games so far this season. Defensive tackle Rakeem Nunez-Roches will likely see more playing time while Hicks is out. PFT
Hmmm.... drop the Bills and add the Falcons. Joking, obviously. Dolphins or Chargers would have to knock off the Bills and/or the Chiefs head-to-head in the playoffs. I'm not seeing that happening at this point, so I'm not putting ANY other AFC teams on my version of the list. In the NFC, I will disagree on the Rams being the "safe" bet. Maybe they're just off to a slow start, but they looked bad in week one and really didn't look all that hot against Atlanta in week two. Yes, they built the big lead, but Atlanta was just plain TERRIBLE for the first three quarters of that game. Then Atlanta finally woke up and almost handed the defending champs a second week of humiliation. That leaves the 49ers as the most likely NFC team to add. And out of Philly, Tampa and Green Bay, I'll take Philly as the best choice of the three to knock out. So... Philadelphia out, San Francisco in.
