We did not play well today. Outgained by 120 yards, o-line as bad as ever, Fields was up and down. Niners gave us this game with penalties and by starting Lance.
I only watched sporadically because I'm sanding ceilings. I didn't see much that was really good but I guess a win is a win.
You know, I have Kittle in fantasy and he was out, so my backup, almost as a joke, was Kmet. That fucker pulled a Belushi, "ZERO POINT ZERO". I know he was active today, I saw him on the field at least once. Bingo. Apart from the win, that's maybe the biggest positive. Well that and the focus on turnovers again. I was joking with my buddies, and I said this is 2004 Lovie Bears. Shit offense, turnovers, "get off the bus running", "bend but don't break", hard nosed 4-3 defense. The biggest difference is that special teams was absolute hot garbage. That said, I'll enjoy a win any time we get one, even if the 49ers gave it away, the Bears still had to capitalize and they did enough. Next week @GB in prime time is going to be rough, but that's where we can see if that discipline holds up under some big time adversity.
All true. There are major flaws. And yet, I found that an extremely satisfying win. They didn't give up, particularly on D, and the fundamentals that they were getting right added up over time. This is an important win for the team. It immediately validates some of what the coaching staff have been preaching. On D in particular there are gonna be a lot of individual moments that can be pulled up during the week on film where coaches can say "look, you did what you were taught and something good happened". The O-Line remains a massive problem. Trying to look on the bright side, hopefully it can get better when Patrick comes in and they aren't playing a top5 DL in the league.
Well as far as dumb penalties, not sure what to think of the wet towel unsportsmanlike conduct. That ones on the special teams coaching staff more than the players.
Agreed, their defense is fairly stout, this Vikings game notwithstanding, so I see something similar to this 49ers game, only our fuckhead "owner" will show up, because he always fucking has. That's pretty dumb, but yeah, special teams coach Hightower is officially on my watch list. They were not good today, but given it's the first game, I'll give a little leeway.
I will have to watch the replay but this is a BIG win. Very happy for the team to come out and get a W. Now let’s build on it. Still don’t think this is a playoff team but I like the character. I love the team continuing to play hard and come back and finish.
No, he was totally confident that the Bears had this game in the bag, and that his golf game actually needs more help than the Bears do.
Just so we are clear…..I live two minutes from a driving range and they have TVs where you can watch the game as you hit balls.
