Beating ND by 11 isn’t as impressive as wiping the floor with Oregon by 46. ND was ranked 5 , Oregon was 11
I think ND proved they wernt overrated by the way they went into the Shoe and played that well against one of, if not the best team, in the nation... Hats off to the Irish... they are a great football team.
Maybe Ohio State is the overrated one wouldnt be the first time. And the Bill Gramatica stupid injury award goes to.... DL Maason Smith LSU who tore his ACL celebrating a stop on the first defensive drive (assuming this means on Ohio States first possesion). Facing a second-and-7 from the 26-yard line, LSU defensive back Major Burns made a stop on Seminoles running back Lawrance Toafili. When Smith jumped to celebrate the play, his knee immediately buckled and he went down to the turf. Smith spent about five minutes in the injury tent before leaving the field under his own power. He later came out of the locker room with the rest of the team to start the third quarter wearing street clothes.
I mean, people try to tell ND fans every year, but they don't listen. I'm not a hater by any means - I think college football is better when teams like ND are genuinely competitive - but until ND proves otherwise, they can't get the benefit of the doubt. A loss to Marshall says a lot. Not everything, of course, but a lot.
Would've been really nice to see Texas pull the upset. I long for the days when more than a few teams had a shot every year, and even for the days when Texas was good, in some ways. As a Miami fan, I'm interested to see if they can hold their own against Texas A&M. They've been hit hard by injuries, and a lot of talent is incoming in the next few years, but this could be an important statement game for them, even if they keep it close. Not necessarily because they're a contender this year, but to show growth in the program.
I was really pulling for the Long Horns in this one as I am a Bama hater (in a sense). The thing that got to me was the brash/cocky attitude of the Bama players at the end of the game... truly unsportsman-like and even Saban ripped into them. Hell of an effort by the Texas team. I hope Bama falls in the rankings a notch or two also. ____________ ______________________ As for Miami... thats an exciting football team and will give the Aggies fits. I like Miami in this one... its my "upset" pick. Hope the Canes wear those dark uni's... those are sweet.
Okay, so, there are two possible: Texas A&M doesn't take known-giant-killer Appalachian State seriously, and they get upset. They're a good team that was just unprepared, and beat Miami next week. This makes Miami look REALLY bad. or Texas A&M isn't actually that good of a team, and loses to Miami. Miami doesn't get the credit they had hoped for from their one big non-conference game. I hate both outcomes.
LSU really shot them selves in the foot. Even if they beat Georgia in the SEC championship the Bulldogs go to the playoffs and LSU doesn’t.
