That’s a pretty good looking roster. The only thing is a couple of important positions don’t have good backups. The starters are solid.

I was surprised, Myron Mitchell is that highly ranked at WR... I dont really know anything about him. Ima have to do some research.

Looks like Mannion and Mond are still in a heated battle for the backup QB position.

    Wide receivers

    • Starters: Adam Thielen and Justin Jefferson
    • Backups: K.J. Osborn and Ihmir Smith-Marsette; Bisi Johnson and Myron Mitchell; Trishton Jackson OR Jalen Nailor and Dan Chisena; Albert Wilson; Thomas Hennigan and Blake Proehl (Proehl is on the Active/PUP list)
It's kind of odd that the Vikings only listed two receivers as starters. The majority of the time, they'll be in three-receiver sets with Osborn as the No. 3 WR and either Ham or a tight end on the field, not both. Smith-Marsette as the WR4 isn't surprising. What is notable is Johnson and Mitchell being in the 5/6 spots over guys like Wilson and Nailor. Unofficial depth charts don't mean a ton, but this doesn't feel like good news for Wilson. It's going to be very, very interesting to see how the roster puzzle shakes out at receiver. Each of the first ten names on this list could legitimately make it, but the Vikings will realistically only keep 6 or 7.

The Vikings backup at QB is scary and no backup at nose tackle maybe that be addressed cause run Defense was pitiful last year

The Vikings sent quarterback Kirk Cousins home after he reported feeling ill, Kevin O’Connell said in his news conference Thursday.

Cousins did not participate in the walk-through practice.

O’Connell said the team still is “working through” whether Cousins has COVID-19. Cousins, who was unvaccinated last season and thus subject to testing in 2021, missed a Week 17 loss to the Packers after testing positive in January. He also missed time in training camp last summer, including a preseason game, as a close contact with backup quarterback Kellen Mond after Mond tested positive for the virus.

Players no longer are tested for COVID-19 unless they report symptoms.

“I have not gotten much of an update, but I do know he was not feeling well earlier,” O’Connell said in a live video stream of the news conference. “We have a process in place where we sent him home, and we’ll go through our processes internally. I’ll get an update for you guys as kind of the week pans out on his availability for the Raider game.”

Cousins will have to spend five days in isolation if he is positive for COVID-19.

The Vikings play at Las Vegas on Sunday.

Bradburry isnt big, but he should be better just from experience. They have a few on the depth charts, but no big names... just hope this o-line can stay healthy as I think the o-line is still the Vikings achilles heal.

    Cousins has Covid19

The Vikings may not have played quarterback Kirk Cousins much, if at all, in their preseason opener against the Raiders this weekend.

But now, Cousins is definitely out.

Head coach Kevin O’Connell told reporters in his Friday press conference that Cousins has tested positive for COVID-19. That means Cousins must be away from the team until at least Tuesday, making him unavailable for Sunday’s contest.

Players are no longer tested for COVID-19 unless they report symptoms. That’s what Cousins did on Thursday and was sent home.

Via Andrew Krammer of the Star Tribune, O’Connell said Cousins has “very minimal symptoms” and “is wearing me out” talking about what’s being installed at Friday’s practice.

With Cousins sidelined, Kellen Mond and Sean Mannion are slated to take the QB reps against Las Vegas.

“No matter who starts, they’ll both play a ton,” O’Connell said, noting the reps will be split 50-50.

Yep... they need to address this ASAP. Mannion and Mond have had a terrible camp.

Some names to consider bringing in would be... (from Vikings wire)

There are a few names on the free agent market that could be enticing, including Cam Newton, Mike Glennon, AJ McCarron, Garrett Gilbert and Kyle Sloter.

If Mond and Mannion both struggle to make a case, don’t be surprised if the team adds another veteran.

Im not a fan of Cam Newton at all, but the others on that short list might work.
