QB battle in camp.

I don’t hate him, I just look at the camp stats and the only stat that Trubisky has had a lead in is the most ints. Not a ringing endorsement. I want whoever is the best for the Steelers, if Trubisky proves to be that then fine but he hasn’t shown that so far. The preseason games should help sort that out.

If you weren't a whiny bitch that blocks people on a freaking internet message board, you'd know specifically that people DO NOT hope he's going to be bad. Quite the opposite. But that doesn't play into your whiny, holier-than-thou narrative that you've so carefully tended all these years.

For anyone to honestly say that the reason he's not a good QB is because he only sat four games and not a full season, when that season occured in the most conservative offense possible under John Fox, and he then went on to have his most statistical success in a subsequent season... Is stupid at best, and SAS-level dishonest / manipulative at worst.

Trubisky wasn't bad because he played too early. He was bad because his brain is bad, and Chicago's staff was too stupid to help him with that. Maybe Pitt's will crack the code. But don't pretend like you know any better than anyone, after just berating Gidion for not having inside knowledge / doubting an NFL staff all the same. You pompous fucking windbag.

Gidion, I know that hypocrite isn't reading this, so you can feel free to tell him to kiss my ass. The gall it takes to soapbox about how he's right and an NFL staff was wrong, but also that you're wrong for doubting an NFL staff. Like that's literally not what all of us are doing here all the time. For fuck's sake.

I just know I didn’t see anything good from him in Chicago

No one did. And beachbum would try to tell you that that's ALL Chicago's fault, not Trubisky's. However, game film and analysis from multiple former NFL QB's would tell you otherwise. So would the fact that his next contract was as a pure backup, and not a potential starter elsewhere. So would the fact that his contract in Pittsburgh is that of a backup QB (based on numbers), it's just that Pitt doesn't really have any other good QB's, either.

But ol' beachbum knows better than all of them and is going to make sure you know that, while simultaneously telling you off for doubting an NFL staff.

As I've said a million times, and so has any other Bears fan - Trubisky has physical talent, but nothing between the ears. If Pitt can fix that, more power to them. But that'll be more about the staff than Trubisky. Shame that beachbum won't read that because he's rather block people than have any real discussion. He just likes jerking himself to his own posts.

I’m looking forward to seeing what Pickett has to offer. This preseason is very critical for the Steelers, we have a roster roster that is full of stud players but if the QBs don’t come through it will be another above 500 team with nothing to show for it.

What do we think the barometer is, for Trubisky? Beachbum clearly seems to be leaning his hat on "wins", but that's a team stat. Yes, Pittsburgh will be happy if they win games, but will they be happy if they're winning in spite of Trubisky, for example? We all know they're able to turn to another guy in their stable.

Because of the situation - having three potential starters - I find it hard to believe that the QB won't be judged on the merits of the offense's production under his watch. It won't just be about wins. So what will be the measure for Trubisky? Points per game? Whether or not he can change the offense at the line effectively enough to move the sticks?

I'm going to take a look at their schedule, see if that gives any insight on what defenses they'll be seeing to start, etc.

I really believe Tomlin likes to keep things the same as long as they are winning. If the offense is horrible after the first four games he would probably try a different QB. Every talking head is predicting that Pickens will be the Steelers top receiver this season. Harris is a good RB and our stable of WRs is looking to be one of the better ones in the league. Friermuth is a good TE, you would think if Trubisky can’t get it done with that group I don’t see him ever succeeding in this league.

Never said you hated him. I said you are looking for any little nugget to confirm your bias against him because you didn't like the signing. Instead of just sitting back and letting it play out.

I don’t have any choice but to let it play out. I just think Tomlin needs to let the competition be more transparent. He’s leaning way too far in the direction of Trubisky when the other two have outperformed him.

Apparently Tomlin is being extremely transparent, just not in the media. He’s not going to tip his hand and he damn sure make a decision before a single preseason game. Only so much you can tell in practice when defenders can’t touch the QB. Pickett is likely out of the running, and Trubisky has been having the his best week of camp. Again Rudolph has thrown a few very interceptable passes, defenders have dropped a couple. Stats only tell part of the story, without context they can be skewed

Can’t wait to watch the first preseason game. Going to very much check out all three QBs. This is a very important part of the team to have a mystery about.

Yes....and he was definitely most personally responsible for those wins.

First preseason game didn’t separate the QBs. But all three played good. Pickett looked the best but he played against lower string players. Pickett was 13-15 with 2 TDs and a 132 QB rating, actually makes me feel good about the pick spent on him. Also WR George Pickens might be our number one WR by mid season.

  16. gidion72 Legend Steelers

My personal favorite is Pickett. He definitely was the right pick. I didn’t know how I really felt about the pick, but now feel he will be a good professional QB.

Trubisky only got two series. Why? Because he's their starting QB. This entire thread is moot. It's not a battle.

Trubinsky might be the starting QB, but it’s good to see all 3 go out and perform the way they did especially with the way camp started out. We knew the offense was going to be a little behind from the start, they had a lot to work on. Judging by what I saw, everything is coming along nicely.
