Well, @IrishDawg42, looks like you got your wish. I wouldn't be surprised if Watson never takes a snap for the Cleveland Browns.
It’ll be an indefinite suspension and a large fine. Come back in a year to see if we feel like reinstating you. And all this begs is the question “why have a phuqing arbiter in the first place?!”
Don’t for a second think or insinuate ANY of this makes me happy. I am not giddy, I don’t feel vindicated, hell, it fucking breaks my heart.
So that Goodell isn’t the judge jury and executioner… He has a valid 3rd party to decide if the player deserves any penalty, if he does…we’ll then he has complete power over that punishment.
Goodell also has complete power over the language in the various policies in use by the NFL. If he stuck a wet finger in the air to see which direction the wind was blowing, he should have done that years ago BEFORE teams signed or (even worse) traded for players that had a probability of being suspended under the Personal Conduct Policy. (Yes, that includes Kareem Hunt)
He didn’t need an arbiter to tell him that. Based on prior incidents, Goodell doesn’t wait for legal outcomes and guilty verdicts to render decisions. However so far there haven’t been any proven innocent (that I know of) who were suspended and/or fined. I’m not mad about a further longer suspension and fine. I think Watson got off light. I’m a bit pissed at further Goodell bullshit. The NFL came up with the process and are simply saying, “Nope. Not enough of a punishment so we’re just going to ignore our process and go with what Goodell wanted to give him in the first place “
Don’t blame Goodell, the players give him this power every time they sign a new version of the CBA. I don’t get it…
Jeez, again, NO ONE is happy about any of this. So stop putting fucking quotes around Browns fans.. I resent anyone telling me I am less of a fucking fan just because of my principles.
lol! Sorry Irish....If you feel that was on you, well then I guess it's on you. As well as the other's rejoicing the appeal. I'd just like to see the Browns win. regardless of who the QB is....
If I were the Browns . . . I would get Jimmy Garoppolo in Berea TOMORROW ! ! ! I would demand that the NFL negate the Watson trade. At the time of the trade, the Browns had every reason to expect Watson would be suspended under the Personal Conduct Policy. They also had every right to expect that Watson would be suspended in accordance the suspension guidelines contained within that same NFL policy. They can't get their 2022 1st rd pick back but they could recoup the rest of them. I would even consider suing Goodell himself.
I don't see it as time to panic... They might increase to 8 games, and add a fine. I'm just guessing.
quotes removed. I'm surprised the NFL wants to keep dragging this out. Watson has already clearly stated that he will sue if there is an appeal.... giddyup.
Fuck you TD.. You want to know what pisses me off? This fucking guy has split a fan base in half to the point that we can’t even talk to each other civilly any more. You all have been my “friends” ( see how much those fucking things hurt) for fucking over two decades and now we are at each other in every post. This whole situation sucks and I’m pissed off they ever put us in this position! Im obviously not welcome by most on here, so I’ll leave the Browns board to you all.. no hard feelings, it’s just time to give you the board and move on to whatever the fuck it is I’m going to do as a fan for the next year or whatever… I will say this, if Watson is out of the picture I will root for Jacoby Brissett or whatever warm body they find, because there are 99.9% of the players on that roster I still want to support. It’s one friggin dumbass… not the rest of the roster, not the fans… it’s ridiculous!
