I believe that there is no possibility of a appeal by the player when the decision is taken to the independent arbitrator. Only the NFL can appeal the decision. Which would mean they weren’t happy with the amount of games given to Watson.

    Discernment. and no.

I would go off of Robinson's decision. If she gives any suspension at all, then Brissett is your day 1 starter and gets ALL starter reps, imho.

Until a new decision is made, you prepare with the information you have on hand.

Either can appeal, but regardless of who appeals, that appeal is heard by Goodell's office. Either he personally, or an appointment, will either uphold or change the decision and that is the final word barring legal action in terms of the NFLPA suing the NFL. At that point it would be suing Goodell's(or proxy) decision, but judge Robinson's.

Can't see who you're referring to which means undoubtedly, it's a Bears fan.

If anyone had come on this board last season and said Mayfield was immature and bad for the locker room you would have went after them hard.

It would be Dlinebass that he was talking about.

Actually, IMHO, the Browns should minimize their 2022 spending and then rollover any left over cap $ for 2023. They're going to need it.

Maybe not needed until 2024 if Watson receives 12 or more games..

Any Browns fan going after Baker Mayfield for "immaturity issues" when the guy they replaced him with has already settled 20 civil suits for inappropriate sexual behavior needs to sit this one out.

I posted what is being reported. It's not "going after" anybody. The Browns relationship with Baker went sideways in a hurry, and this is the main reason why, according to reports.

Baker Mayfield has nothing to do with Deshaun Watson.

I like Baker, and I'm going to root for him after week one... That's not to say he's above criticism, even though there are obviously fans here that think he is.

To be fair, my response was to a Bears fan, not a Browns fan. I'm not insinuating you are going after Baker.

The second line, however, I fundamentally disagree with. Baker and Watson are going to be inextricably connected for at least the short-term future now. The Browns, in an effor to move away from TFQB went hard after one quarterback. Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, Russell Wilson, Derek Carr, Jimmy Garoppolo, Carson Wentz... plenty of names in the QB arena they could have pursued and they went all-in for one guy. Even Washington was shooting its shot with Patrick Mahomes (link: Report: Washington Commanders had the gall to call Chiefs about Patrick Mahomes (msn.com)) worst they can do is say 'no', right? But Cleveland had sights set on a single player who happens to have the most baggage attatched in recent NFL history.

Baker is certainly fair game and deserves criticism. Won't argue that. I'm only pointing out that one guys' knock is spending too much time on video games while another spends too much time chasing down unlicensed massage therapists with OnlyFans accounts and then exploits a position of power over them for sexual gratification. Those things are not the same and one would be tremendously concerning were I decision-maker.

    Appreciate that. I'm not.

A friend of mine lives near Charlotte. He grew up a Browns fan, but became a Panthers fan over the last 20 years, living in the community.

In spite of the fact that as soon as that trade was announced, the LV betting line adjusted 3.5 points toward Carolina's favor, he still thinks Darnold will be the guy, and he swears that in the local scene, NO Carolina fan wants Baker Mayfield. Regardless of how terrible Darnold played last year, he's still a landslide favorite in the fans perspective. That's how popular Baker is even with the fans of the team that just traded for him.. He's an obvious upgrade, but...

Saw a post where Bill Barnwell was suggesting they trade for Garoppolo "because they have 40M in cap space".

People act like it's monopoly money. Like every team is willing to just throw in 24M for a one-year rental.

These teams track spending just like any other business. They have budgets, they monitor cash flow. It's not the Wild, Wild, West.

Then we circle back to the team that just paid the unprecedented FULLY GUARANTEED $230M for a guy that is morally questionable, but even more important, could upset the status quo in the winning department with a prolonged suspension. When it comes to the Browns, I wouldn't back off from calling it the Wild, Wild, West. They do what they want, when they want. IF the fan base decreases an exorbitant amount due to Watson's past, it wouldn't surprise me in the least for Haslem to attempt to move the team elsewhere in the future stating the decline in fan base. Be careful what you wish for, Haslem doesn't play by any set of rules but his own.

Cities currently looking for a team. San Antonio, St. Louis, Portland to name a few. Haslem has mayflower on speed dial.

I don't even know how to unpack this pile of gloom and doom.

    So I won't.

San Diego, San Jose, Toronto, Mexico City, London, Oklahoma City, El Paso...
I'd keep an eye out for that $1,000,000,000+ stadium he wants to build that they're already *allegedly* looking at new sites for and asking the city of Cleveland to foot the bill for more than $700 million of that overall pricetag.

I agree with you up until a head coach starts to feel the heat. Matt Rhule likely was the driving force in Carolina behind acquiring Mayfield. Entering Year 3, his track record is abysmal and another double-digit loss season would probably have been his last. Carolina was looking at 3-14 before Mayfield and maybe 7-10 after. At least he can show improvement.

Stefanski may be towing the corporate line right now, assuming #QB26 misses extended time, but as the losses stack up it's going to be harder and harder to resist the urge to pull that trigger and get a guy like Garoppolo.

Not that he should be anyone's coaching northstar, but Hue Jackson was going to send multiple day two picks to a division rival for a modest upgrade at the position a few years back...
