A conditional 5th and had to eat more than half his salary. The Browns really didn't value Mayfield much after all

    And neither did anyone else.

OK, he's gone, all non-Browns people can stop talking about this on the Browns board. Save it for the general chat boards, there are already two other places for you to give your two cents.

Okay but I'm coming back when the 49ers cut Jimmy G. :p

That's about right. Baker is a little more than a field goal per game better than Sam Darnold.

What gave you the impression that they did?

  9. gidion72 Legend Steelers

The overall first pick they wasted on him.

Pretty much what Gidion said. When you spend the #1 overall pick on a player, you usually value the player.

you’re talking about two totally different situations 4 years removed.

One is evaluating a college player, the other is actual market value.

The market was Carolina and Seattle, so not much.

I’ll call my shot, Baker Mayfield has a better season than the Browns QB roster in 2022. With, what everyone seems to agree, is an inferior supporting cast.

Are ya really gonna let Gid be your spokesman? What a cop-out.

    How ridiculous...

Obviously a lot changes in 5 years, right? smh...I expected more from you for some reason...Or at least something.

Have the Ravens never drafted a player that they eventually soured on?

I can agree, and the market value is set by how valuable teams feel the player is. A conditional 5th shows that Baker Mayfield, the player you argued me up and down last year was ascending, isn't really that highly valued.

To be honest, regardless of what's been said in this thread prior, I didn't think the draft compensation would be that low while also eating more than half of his salary. I thought Cleveland would demand a better pick if they took on a portion of the salary, which is what held things up as the seemed to refuse to previously. This is why I said they didn't value him much after all

    I call bullshit on that.

Sigh, here we are again. I say something that isn't pleasant in regards to the Browns and you go on attack mode. Now it's because Gidion responded before me. Don't really care what you expect from me as you've given me no reason to put your opinion in any high regard

In terms of your question, no, the Ravens have never spent a #1 overall pick on a player.......well, that's the end of the sentence. But to go further, they've never spent the #1 overall pick on a player then, in a few years, traded that player away for a likely pointless draft pick while also paying more than half his salary to leave. They've never "soured" on a player so badly that the overpaid a potential sex offender who may not even play for a year.

Ravens first round picks, for the most part, at least finish out their rookie season in Baltimore. Perriman being the exception, off the top of my head.

    If we're talking 1st round draft picks . . .

You might want to add Hayden Hurst (25th O/A) and Marquise Brown (25th O/A) to that list.

  17. TopDawg Legend

Uhm, no...It because you added nothing. You tagged your weak response to Gid..

I'm glad the Ravens have never had a regrettable draft pick. That's just amazing....

  18. TopDawg Legend

    Rest assured, it's not much.

  19. ravens_R_#1 Legend Ravens

I didn't include them because the question asked to me was in regards to players the Ravens soured on. Both Brown and Hurst asked to be traded, so that's more them souring on the Ravens, or their roles with the Ravens. But even then, they got a 1st for Brown and a 2nd and 5th for Hurst and a 4th.
