Question for the Browns fans who feel Watson is innocent. How do you feel about Bill Cosby? Is he also innocent?

lol! Question back to Baltimore fan:

How drunk are you little Raven?

Sooo you don't want to answer and seem like a hypocrite I'm guessing.

I actually want to see if there's consistency here. Watson has far too many accusations and people are saying it's a money grab, you specifically posted that art work. I'm curious if you have the same view on another guy who had far too many accusations who isn't your team's QB. The cleveland fanbase (and I'm not pointing to any specific people on this part) where big on the whole "Rapistberger" thing and that was just off 2 accusations, so it's interesting to see how 11 times as many gets defended

The thing I don’t understand about these situations is why would anyone commit sexual misconduct when they are famous and have lots of whatever they are looking for to date/ hookup with throwing themselves at them. I think some famous athletes and actors think that they should be able to lay anyone they want to, better just to be with the ones who want you than to get in trouble being greedy.

It’s the God complex, they think everyone wants them. If they don’t, they can get them to come around… that is sexual harassment when you are naked, sexual misconduct when you are naked and try to entice, sexual assault when you take your nakedness and touch someone unwilling with it. It’s simple.. hard to prove in a court of law without any evidence, but it is what it is. Then the victim gets humiliated in the public court for speaking up. It’s why so many crimes go unpunished.

SMH. His ridiculous remark didn't warrant a response. Good lord. So you really think the Bill Cosby comparison is fair? A convicted serial rapist that used drugs to facilitate his sexual assaults over a 40 year span. That compares to Deshaun Watson?

  7. ravens_R_#1 Legend Ravens

Lol wow. You're so mad at me calling out the hypocrisy that you didn't even notice that Irish responded to someone else. Also, I also mentioned how the Browns fanbase as a whole condemned Ben for 2 allegations while many of those same people defend 11 times as many for Watson

Anyway, getting back to all things Browns, a report js out (allegedly) that the Browns expect Watson to miss the whole year. I wonder how Baker plays this year if he gets the start, and if this hurts morale since many players seemed excited to have Watson as the QB

EDIT: Seems that report may be bs so excuse me on that part

First off, my response wasn't to the Bill Cosby remark..

Secondly, Similar comparisons, but on a totally different scale, so no, I don't think it is a fair comparison at all. For the record, even though he was convicted, Bill Cosby's conviction was overturned in 2021, so I can see why he is making the case to you and the question was asked. But, I agree that the level of accusations are not on the same tier.

I didn't "like" the Cosby comment, based solely on the level of accusations. Both in terms of severity, as well as the number, which I believe was over 60 women.

I did "like" the Rapistberger comment, because, even though there were only two women, neither Ben or Deshaun had actual charges brought against them. It is a more apt comparison, imho. Even, though I also do not put forced rape in the same category as sexual imposition, which is between exposure and touching them with his member, whether accidentally or on purpose. But, I do put them in the same category as sexual predators. Even if the prosecution didn't have enough to convict, or even get formal charges filed.

Cosby got off on a technicality, Watson apparently they didn't have enough physical evidence to file charges. I have an opinion on that as well. I think that the Grand Jury felt that if these women were seeking criminal charges, they would have went to the police right after the incident, instead of waiting so many months, then filing all of the complaints over a 3 day period after seeking a lawyer. If they had filed back in 2019 and 2020, I think Watson could have at least seen a trial and quite possibly jail time. Because of what we are seeing today with the public shaming, I see why they didn't go to the police immediately. After all, he didn't rape them, he did put them in more than just an awkward position though that could harm them mentally in ways that may not surface for months or years. That, imho, should be punished as well.

Most likely a false report. Everything I am reading is that the NFL won't even begin processing the information and forming an opinion until after June 30th, in order to gather as much information as possible. I'm sure they would like to settle the 2022 season before training camp begins though, which for the Browns is July 26th at the earliest. We are probably looking at about 6-7 weeks before the NFL makes their decision on punishment.

In the meantime, I'm sure the Browns will not hold up any reasonable trade offer for Baker Mayfiled waiting on that decision. I don't believe they will take anything less than whatever their set amount is though. I do think they are willing to force him into training camp and the regular season waiting for an injury to up the ante on his trade value. I also believe 100% that if Baker is back to full health, he is the second best option at QB on this team and they would play him in case of the absence of Watson. He would remain on the trade block and that trade value could increase with each passing week if he gets back to looking like he did pre-injury. Or... he could look terrible after missing OTAs and not having the mental capacity to overcome these past months, in which case they are no worse off then as they are right now. If the only option is a 6th or 7th round draft pick and they eat $14M of the $18.8M contract... Then I would rather see if he can overcome the mental side of things. At worst, they lose $4.8M of cap space and gain a 3rd round compensatory pick for him in 2023.

I think the floor on a trade is a 3rd round pick...Some team is going to want him bad enough to take the leap of faith, or I don't think anything happens to Baker in 2022. He is currently playing for his next contract, that includes his off season activities. He needs to swallow his pride, go to mandatory off season workouts, start reacclimating with his team and move on. That is the only way he wins another valid chance in the NFL. Hell, I would argue RIGHT NOW, his BEST opportunity to win that next big contract is staying with the Browns and hoping Watson is suspended for 2022. They have the best offensive weapons between the teams being discusses as possible destinations. Seattle and Carolina are both teams that would expect him to compete for a starting position and he would have to learn a new system. In Cleveland, he is familiar with his coaching staff and the majority of the locker room.

I know that isn't what beach or many others want to hear, but it makes sense for many parties for Baker to stay on Cleveland.

I don't disagree with anything you said. However to me, they all fall under the accuser sexual predator title. But notice I said "accused". Whether they did it or not, they were all accused by multiple women. I've just noticed (not just here) that in some cases people are willing to say "where there's smoke there's fire" and in other cases those same people will say it's women chasing money. It's always interesting to me how opinion changes depending on the accused

  12. ravens_R_#1 Legend Ravens

That's a reasonable outlook. I do wonder what trade compensation teams are offering. I'm almost positive it's not a first but I wonder if a 2nd has been thrown out there. I feel like if it was the deal would have been done already. So whereas a 3rd is your floor, I think it's the ceiling. Mainly because it's a 1 year rental and players that are even remotely good are demanding stupid money. Look at Orlando Brown wanting to be the highest paid LT when he wasn't even top 3 performance wise, for example

  13. IrishDawg42 Legend Manager Browns Buckeyes Fighting Irish

Only reason I see it as the floor is that they will get a comp pick back for him in 2023 if he makes it to free agency. Most likely with his status, that would be a 3rd round comp pick. It doesn't make good business sense to take anything lower, for the main purpose being to help another team and Baker Mayfield in 2022. They have spent a hell of a lot more in recent past for draft picks than $4-7M, which is most likely what we are looking at for compensation.

Now, for monetary compensation, then it would possibly start to go lower. Say the Browns eat $8M of the contract, then a 4th rounder in return instead of a 3rd and eating anything higher than the $8M. Or a 2nd round pick and the Browns eating $16M of the contract. Or, obviously going the other direction and a team willing to take on the contract, but only give up a 7th round pick. Any of the above scenarios, I could see as feasible. However... I think Berry would still see the most value in keeping Mayfield until a team has an injury and overpays for Mayfield, rather than any of the above scenarios. I think we can easily rule out the second round scenario. I don't think any team is willing to give up a second rounder for a one year, last we heard, hurt Baker Mayfield. If he goes into training camp, proves his health is at a normal beginning of year status. His throws look more accurate without a shoulder brace, then I think the trade market would start to heat back up.

Nor are they with Roethlisberger. It was a troll remark, plain and simple. To my knowledge, nobody has accused Watson of rape.

The whole thing is wearing pretty thin. Sadly when your favorite team makes a move like this it opens the door for shallow remarks and casting judgements on the player, the organization, and even the fans.

Perhaps it was in bad taste of me to put the "money grab" artwork out there, but someone joining the Buzbee circus at this point, reeks of that IMO.

What if Watson just got traded to the Steelers or Ravens this off-season? How would you feel about him then. You’re only defending him because your team traded 3 first rd picks and signed him to a fully guaranteed contract. What reason could anyone possibly have for burning through massage therapist like they are changing their underwear?

Maybe my point isn't getting across properly. I'm not evenly comparing the accusations. For the question I'm asking, I don't even care about the actual accusations. I'm asking about the numner of accusations and your belief in that. Two posts ago I put the words "where there's smoke there's fire" in quotes. I've mentioned how some from this very fanbase crucified Ben for only 2 accusations then turn around and say 22 (now 24 if I'm reading correctly) accusations are all bogus.

Again, it's not about the crime itself. I'm just pointing out (sticking to Ben for the sake of argument) why 2 accusations were enough for a "where there's smoke there's fire" outlook but 22+ get a vastly different outlook

Exactly. Hell, I'm not gonna go back and check, but I wouldn't be surprised if some had a different view of Watson 365 days ago

I remember Browns fans not wanting Watson before the trade went down. I actually wanted him on the Steelers at first but after seeing the circus this is creating am very glad we didn’t.

It depends on your level of comfort for all sexual issues in general. If you are comfortable in your views, then it shouldn't wear thin. Unfortunately, and I think we all knew it was coming, this DOES open up all scrutiny and I believe it is justified scrutiny. This is a personal matter, even moreso than a trolling matter. People are either going to see the allegations as, not a big deal, or they are a big deal. He was accused by a couple of women of grabbing their hand and moving it towards his groin area. He also was accused of ejaculating on one woman. These are still very serious issues. No, none of them have said he forced himself upon them and raped them, but if these accusations are accurate and these women didn't come forward, he might have felt confident enough to take that next step. What then? We can't speculate that he would have ever taken it to that level, but if 24 women are to be believed, then that is a serial offender and someone that is sick in the head, imho.

To call someone else a troll for making remarks, well, I guess I am a troll also, because I have made my feelings damn clear how I feel about the player and organization for wasting team resources on that player.

Again, you don't know this woman. To assume anything is prejudice on your part and kind of proves what all the trolls are saying. It could just as easily be that she is the only credible victim in the suit. None of us know for sure. What I do know is that one woman came forward seeking help from the judicial system... All of the information released since that happened has helped me form one singular opinion, I don't want him to be associated with the football team I have followed for nearly 50 years. That is the only real opinion I have shared.. I don't want him associated with my team. I've never said ban him for life or send him to jail or anything of the sort. I will agree that with 24 women, I am comfortable in my thinking that something probably happened, but if that was to one woman or twenty four women, I would feel the same way about him, so I am sure we are not on the same page.

I would hate him just like the rest of the Ravens and Steelers...

I'm not defending Watson. I'm defending being a Browns fan. There's a difference.
