I was wondering how that happened? Just speaking for myself, I appreciated having that info before the commoners that simply watch TV got it. Even if it was a split second
Ok... did all networks show the lame Criss Angel thing at the beginning? Last night I had the live broadcast from "ESPN on ABC" (recorded ESPN and NFL-N but ABC live) and he did a fairly standard magic trick, which I don't think was on the other networks. (His predictions for the top three picks were allegedly in a sealed envelope in a locked box suspended in the air next to the network announcers. Cool the first or second time you see it. Gets tedious after that. And Penn & Teller did a version of the same trick when Tampa played the Raiders in the Superbowl, so it's not even the first time it's been done on a NFL special.) Full disclosure... I'm not big on Angel as a perfomer at all. He did a show as a joint production with Cirque du Soleil for a while. Virtually no CdS other than some robotics/puppetry, and most of the "magic" was lame - he had several tricks that basically used the same method / were the same trick. If you're a CdS fan, you felt ripped off. If you wanted to see great magic, you didn't.
WR and now edge for ATL. New GM is allegedly pure BPA, but so far he's drafting the top needs. Seems more like a shopping list GM to me.
Just got a chance to sit down with a beer and some eats. Here's how I'm reading the first round... 1 Jacksonville Jaguars: Travon Walker, DE - Georgia This feels like Trent Baalke got Khan to side with him, and I think Pederson felt strong enough about the idea that he was right going after a tackle enough that he found a way to make sure that message got out through the press. Ultimately, I agree with Doug here. Ekwonu was almost a necessity to add, but that would mean that Baalke would have to accept a defeat on the drafting of Walker Little. Hubris is a mother fucker, and I think it will be the undoing of any of the positive moves that Jacksonville has made, which is why it was time for Baalke to go before this draft happened. Little already stated he would refuse a move to guard, so if the doesn't pan out at tackle it's a total fuck up by the front office. Lawrence is the only thing that matters for the future in Jacksonville, so Ekwonu should have been the pick.
That would be a step up from Dimitroff, as he would be less likely to make those bizarre reach picks. Disappointing though.
2. Detroit Lions: Aidan Hutchinson, DE - Michigan This was the smart pick for the Lions and having Travon off the board probably didn't really affect the decision, regardless of reporting that may have suggested otherwise before the draft. Hutchinson will add some pop off the EDGE from day one, and Dan Campbell believes that this team can be competitive quickly, so long as the continue to just ramp up the talent at all levels around Goff (for the moment). Detroit's first two picks in this draft go a long way towards achieving that goal.
3. Houston Texans: Derrick Stingley Jr. - CB, LSU I have 'Sauce' ranked higher than Stingley, but not by so much that this is a drop-off of a pick. Houston is bereft of talent at nearly every level of the field, so adding a player that can become a cornerstone at one of the most important positions on the field is a great early move to make.
@Torgo since I just mentioned Mafe, and Ebiketie went to the Falcons, now is a good time to bring up the fact one of my toughest decisions was which of those two I liked more as a prospect. Tough call.
Vikings trading up! Finally. If they get Booth they redeem themselves. If not I dunno what they are doing.
4. New York Jets: Ahmad Gardner - CB, Cincinnati I love this pick for the Jets. The only way they are going to find any kind of stability with Saleh as the head coach is to load up some talent on the defense for him to deal with his in division rivals while the assessment of Zach Wilson continues. Yes, they need some weapons for the kid to work with, but starting off with what the side of the ball that the coach specializes in is never a bad move, so long as you get the right player. With this pick, I believe the Jets started the night off right.
