One other thing that hit me just now about that odd trade... I'm sure it has happened other times, but I know for sure there was one trade in the 2008 first round where the TV networks initially reported the details wrong. There was a 3-for-3 trade that they reported as a 3-for-1 trade. So it's unlikely but possible that Minnesota got something else in the deal that we don't know about yet.
Cine is almost one of those guys where you'll have to wait and see. His ceiling is very high. Exceptional athlete. But the tape is just pretty good, IMO. We'll see how he develops. All that said, if it were the Colts, I'd be pissed.

Yeah I could see where you say that. Not quite the free ride Detroit got. But not bad. Still though, 9 back, 32 up into that "sweet spot", and an extra mid-late 5th. Not a terrible haul for the Titans.

I’m glad you guys were right. Every year I watch these teams over draft QB in the hope the shit you see on tape isn’t real. I am actually shocked to see only one go in the first round. Maybe that allure of being able to teach a bad QB is wearing off. I don’t mind them taking a flier on the second day on down, but first round draft picks need to be used on players that have a high probability of at least contributing, if not leading your team.
I fell asleep around pick 5, then woke up around pick 22, then back asleep around pick 25. I missed some trades, but that’s about it. Woke up at 3:30am yesterday, I was hoping to sleep longer today since the Browns actually have 3 picks tonight. Well, that didn’t happen.
My biggest note after looking through everything this morning.. the only real “fallers” are QBs, which we’ve already established aren’t really fallers this year. Browns aren’t going to find a JOK in the second round like they did last year. Nakobe Dean and Andrew Booth are the only ones I thought would probably be first rounders, but they were bubble anyway. Right now, my hope is Christian Watson makes it to us. I don’t think Berry has any intentions of moving up. For the Browns, he’s probably the best available now. With Ojabo a close second if they are only going to sign Clowney to a one year deal. Give Ojabo a red shirt year to get healthy and you have a nice replacement in 2023.
Im hoping Watson (WR) goes to the Vikings or maybe Booth (CB)... hell of a decision coming up for that R2 pick 2 in the Vikings slot.
Im not so sure. The Vikings will do well picking early in the 2nd and they did no harm really in Cine as a late 1st, in my opinion. Defensive secondary is the main goal this draft and they still have a good chance at addressing exactly that.
I agree they did no harm with Cine at 32, my problem with this trade is what did the miss on at pick 12? They better get a very good contributor at #34 because I can say with some certainty, Kyle Hamilton is head and shoulders the best Safety in this draft, much better than Cine. So if that was their biggest need, they had an opportunity to make their team much better if they miss on their pick at #34.
Agreed, because sometimes I wonder and get confused as to what their intentions actually are. CB was allegedly the #1 goal, so they go Safety, lol. If they snag Booth, then maybe, just maybe it all makes sense.

That’s the savage irony of that trade though too. They already felt like DB was a big need. In the end they let a division rival they play twice per season come up fairly cheap to take another plus weapon they now have to cover. Bit painful to sleep on probably. The reality is though, what everyone else does shouldn’t really matter. The most important thing is simply having the right coach/scheme and simply getting your picks right. Do that and you should be able to beat your rivals anyway.

The other big story that nobody seems to be talking about is the combination of moves by New Orleans. Quick recap... they're in an ongoing cap hell and continue kicking the can down the road, so they weren't in a position to sign top tier free agents. They also didn't have a 3rd round pick this year, having traded it to Houston last year for Bradley Roby. Their 6th rounder was the pick forfeited for COVID violations. But they did have two 3rd round comp picks - #98 for losing free agents (Trey Hendrickson, Sheldon Rankins) and #101 for Atlanta hiring Terry Fontenot as the new Falcons GM. So... a full set of draft picks but with a pair of third round comps instead of their regular third and sixth rounders. GM Mickey Loomis clearly wanted a top WR and a top lineman to add to his roster. And now that the first round is done, we can see how he planned to pull it off. A month ago, he made a complex trade with the Eagles that makes more sense if you break it into two parts. They dropped one spot from #18 to #19 and bumped up their 7th to Philadelphia's 6th rounder. They also gave up their 2023 first round pick, 2024 second round pick, and one of the two third round comp picks (#101) for #16. And then Atlanta takes a WR at #8 with the Jets taking one at #10. That forces his hand, and he trades the other third round comp pick (#98) and his fourth rounder to move up from #16 to #11 to get Olave. When you put it together, he used the #98, #101, #120, 2023 first rounder and 2024 second rounder for Olave. Five picks for one WR, just like Atlanta did for Julio Jones eleven years ago.
