Lol. Well I'm quite stoked. He's one of my favourite players in the league. I was really high on him since the draft.
An Elam from Florida..... probably Matt's little brother, and if he was, he better be 10 times better than ole Matty was because if he isn't, what a waste of a pick. Matt Elam was pure GARBAGE
I agree with @Jjratface that Pickett is the most NFL-ready QB in this class, but I'm also happy to see teams recognize that NONE of this year's QBs were worth a top five pick. In the long run I still like Malik Willis better, but he's going to need a year. Interesting thought... we're getting late enough in the round that Willis is in striking range for the Falcons to trade up and get him in the back end.
I haven't paid attention to anything other than the trades and the read the first few picks. Eagles trading for Brown makes sense for them - they need someone and clearly can't identify that talent. But paying WR's huge money is a hefty gamble, if your team isn't otherwise ready to win. In my estimation. Titans clearly decided they had a WR prospect they liked as much as Brown, and would rather pay a small contract than a big one. We'll see what they do with that money, I guess. Some will say that they got three good years from a second round pick and then turned it into a first round pick - I will say to wait and see whether the new kid is any good. The Marquise Brown trade is basically the same trade. One team runs more than most, and has a star WR that wants to get paid big bucks. Trade him for the same pick you used on him, and rely on your talent evaluation skills in a deep WR draft to get a new guy. Just like the AJ Brown trade, the new WR / QB combo have familiarity with each other - even more so, with the two being college teammates. Arizona makes some funky moves sometimes, man. Vikings gave up a 20 pick first round upgrade to their division rivals in return for a 12 pick upgrade in the second round and a third round pick. I don't understand it. I don't want either team to succeed, but I feel like the Vikings don't want the Vikings to succeed, either.
I'm noticing a trend, as I get caught up on picks - the workout warriors are getting priority. Several top picks going to guys with less production but higher athletic profiles, and I'm not even far into the round. Interesting. Not necessarily how I'd do things, but interesting.
I'm looking for guys that might have the potential to fall to Chicago. Tyler Smith just got taken, so there's another OT gone. Shame.
To me, the strangest move of the night is probably that Vikings move back. My guess is they had committed to trying to get extra picks with the new regime, and there just wasn't anyone else offering a great haul. So they took what they could get thinking that both they weren't ecstatic with who they would have taken at 12, and also that they could get a couple excellent values early in the 2nd.
Personally I'd be fine if Atlanta sticks with Mariota for 2022. Give Feleipe Franks the #2 role (and stop this nonsense of playing him as a TE). Use the draft picks on pass rushers and make that defense GOOD. It's almost there already, but the pass rush needs serious help.
I got OT Bernhard Raimann and CB Roger McCreary for CHI in the mock. After that, OG Jamaree Salyer and traded to get Clemson WR Justyn Ross.
I just have a hard time seeing players at 32, 34, and 66 being better than players at 12 and 46. To me, an extra third round pick isn't an enviable difference - the first and second round picks are the big part of the deal. I think your guess is probably the right one, RT, I'm just not sure it still makes any sense. But I've had some social media reminders over the last 48 hours show me how very, very wrong I've been about draft moves in the past, so...
If the Eagles can get a solid DB in the 2nd round it would be set. There are some solid names that round.
I think you did about as well as you could, given Chicago's meager position. I appreciate you taking that on.
Agree but they still have 2 nice picks and those will dictate my score on it. If they trade back with either it likely hurts my grade. They need the 1st guy to be really solid or 2 sweet picks.
