I would have taken Tariq Carpenter in the draft, but I don't know enough about the teams (two of my three have new coaching staffs) to know if the LB coaches like those 'tweener guys as much as I do. I'm designing the defensive scheme, it's a modified ("next generation"?) Tampa Two with several of those 'tweeners.
As always ends up being true, once you get more time to dive into all the guys you haven't looked at, I find several more UDFA guys I'd happily bring to camp. I wish it was 5 each. LoL
Before this thread fades away (as they always do), I wanted to express to the group what an absolute joy is was to work side-by-side with @Torgo to help make his concept of an on-line mock draft happen. Throw in a few tweaks here and there and I think his concept will become the Gold Standard in the future.
Colts sign Josh Rivas / G / Kansas State The Niners sign Joey Blount / S / Virginia The Jets sign Taysir Mack / WR / Pittsburgh
Thanks Lyman! And thanks again for designing the spreadsheet, filling in the NFL's picks and the initial schedule, and all the help in tracking everyone's picks. We'll be sure to get in more reminders to include pick #s in trades in future mocks. If I'm running the draft, I'll make that a priority. Yesterday got a bit messy because we had a bunch of trades being thrown around almost at the same time that weren't "real" trades yet. I don't think we can avoid that, and I'm not sure I'd want to - it's fun when people have trade talks completely out in the open like that. But once the pick comes up and those tentative trades become ACTUAL trades (the pick is OTC and the target player is still available), it really does help to have all the details listed so that the person filling in the spreadsheet doesn't have to go crazy sorting it all out.
Skalski is one guy I don't know if scouts absolutely hate or if a couple of them might just love to grab like early day 3.
The draft not being deep into day 3 makes it more likely he goes if he isn't taken off everyone's board for his negatives.
Chargers Daniel Hardy, DE - Montana State Josh Ali, WR - Kentucky Jaivon Heiligh, WR - Coastal Carolina
LoL I've been talking draft so many places I completely forgot Heiligh was available. Great catch here.
A one-legged nun walking a goat gets taken off everyone's board. But this year just about anyone else has a chance in round seven.
We could see like 4 or 5 players for CC available. They've really gotten some talent on that team lately.
@Torgo So if I CAN sign a 4th UDFA when should I be eligible to do that? I have an entertaining one for the Colts
4th UDFA at 5pm for anyone who wants it. And if any of you sick pups still want even more of this putrid draft class, 5th UDFA at 6pm. (It's just a matter of widening two more columns, so go for it.)
Thanks to You and Torgo... you put in a lot of work and made this fun! If there were others behind the scenes, thanks to you also. I enjoyed it.
