For everyone else, the behind the scenes joke is that Lyman and I have kinda been tripping over each other filling in picks in the spreadsheet. We've had about six picks already where we've both been on the page to update it at the same time. On one, I accidentally wiped out and retyped a name that Lyman had just finished typing.
I did about three picks ago - I gave @Underdog, @Tim and @Willie the heads up that there were three picks ahead of them that would probably go quickly and that they were the next three picks after that.
In hindsight... thanks to @StlCrtn for that small trade we did earlier. It wasn't the kind of trade that Chicago's real GM would be looking for, but it was certainly harmless enough (moving down two spots) and it did bump up a later pick a bit. I got exactly the same player that I would have taken two picks earlier, so the net effect for the Bears was going from 5-7 to 4-30 for free. (It was also a good insurance move by StlCrtn to guarantee he got his guy, considering the run we had on WRs. With my pick publicly up for grabs, anyone else could have jumped in at the last minute and traded with me to snipe him.) That 4-30 pick just became three late round picks, which is exactly the kind of thing the real Bears GM is supposedly looking to do. So... two needs filled in the second round with one "upside" guy and one "value" pick, and now they also got the quantity-over-quality collection of day three picks they were allegedly seeking. Maybe the articles I read were wrong, but that's the scenario I was following. Worst case = I royally screw up their draft with horrible day three picks. Then the Bears fans on this forum will know that from now on they need to make sure one of them joins every mock draft and not risk having a "method actor" run their team...
Amusing item from my spam email... I'm guessing everyone here knows from pop-ups and other spam ads that Tommy Chong is now selling CBD products (legally this time). He jokingly called 4/20 a favorite holiday and ran a sale. As fate would have it, his site reached order #420420 during the 4/20 sale. The customer service rep who took the order was so blown away by the coincidence that just for laughs she took a break and bought a lottery ticket at the corner convenience store. And won... ...a whole $12. But a win is a win.
Niners 2(29) 3(29) 3(41) 4(29) 5(29) 6 (8) 6(41) 6(42) 7(41) Telling you, RL GMs don’t rep that hard…
lol! Sorry but I actually like the Raiders draft a little better 3(86) 4(126) 5(164) 5(165) 7(227) If you really want to be impressed, check out the Rams draft!
So question for anyone with an opinion: Is it the Rams fault there are 8 teams without a 1st round pick now? The newer CBA and this is the inevitable outcome? Just such a strange year. I can’t make sense of it.
