Exactly this. Normally I'd drop Pickens down a bit in my own grading, but a run at a position changes everything very quickly - even for some BPA strategies.
Because they were hoping Kirk is breaking out for real and can get someone that will actually go to Jacksonville.
There is more. I just didn't want to get into it. The words aren't getting to paper well from my thick head right now and I can't be bothered that much while entertaining with beers. More beers may actually help lol.
For me, the big signal that free agency was koyaanisqatsi was the Chargers signing Atlanta's 32-year old long snapper to a 4-year contract with $1.92M guaranteed. When even the long snappers are getting 7 figures guaranteed money, those diva receivers are going to try to break the bank.
Honestly I didn’t work up a big board this year I am using a fellow giants fan whose opinions I trusts Giants focused big board. Pickens was pure BPA based on his board and need aligned here.
The issue with Pickens for me is that when the WRs have major injuries, they usually aren't the same the first year back. The sharp cuts just aren't there. So you really have to take him with an eye for 2023 and beyond. For some teams, that's perfect. For others, it's a problem.
For me I see a long term need at the position but not a short term need. So it wasn’t an issue for it to take a season to pay off.
TRADE Jets receive 2.19 / 3.37 / 5.11 / 2023 3rd Eagles receive 2.6 / 4.12 / 5.20 / 2024 6th @LAOJoe otc
its relative.. Kirk is the 12th highest paid receiver, did he deserve it? I would say no… despite Watson being a top 5 QB, he was given the highest contract in the history of the NFL and they guaranteed every penny. I would say that compares in the “What did they do to deserve that”? Category.
Got another question for you @LAOJoe , if I can get it in before the beer takes control... What do you think about Arcega-Whiteside making the position switch?
I don't mind. I don't know if he needs to switch but he was playing a lot of pseudo TE anyways so if it helps him go ahead. Eagles like using multiple TEs so he can snag a real key spot as the #2. The team already committed to move on from most WRs they had before last year so anyone that can stick, good for them.
