I like the player, but color me surprised. that's not where I thought Jets would go.

  3. xinik Franchise Player Manager Giants

I have no idea what the Texan will or won't do. But I would be SHOCKED of Pickett goes #3 overall. I don't necessarily hate it I am an advocate of doing what you need to do if you see a franchise QB. But that would be something.

This is the guy I crossed off my list earlier today lol.

    The New York Giants Select:

    Kayvon Thibodeaux, Edge, Oregon

Every year some guy gets done dirty by the draft process. This year it was Thibs. And if that allows him to fall right into my lap... I am ok with it. Giants have spent a LOT of time with this kid. I don't think the questions about his motor are real and I have no problem with a guy having outside interests as long as it doesn't interfere with football. (Looking at you Kadarious "Yung Joka" Toney)I don't think it will with Kayvon.

    Panthers up @Torgo

Kenny Pickett is slated to potentially go to Carolina Panthers that is the earliest I have seen him go. They will most likely select an offensive lineman to sure up their line for whatever QB they do bring in for 2023. If they do go QB, I see the QB from Liberty being more of a fit for that system.

Whether or not the Panthers go QB is going to be interesting to me. I feel like if they take a QB they are committing to at least two years of Matt Rhule and Ben McAdoodoo (as DRC used to call him... to his face... at halftime..). Is that something they are willing to do organizationally? Playing it safe, drafting an OT and trying to acquire Baker for as little as possible makes a lot more sense to me... But I do think you are right and Willis. Based on what I know about Mac and how he evals QB's I would think Willis will have his antennae's up.

JFTR: McAdoo has a new doo.

...it seems relevant for some reason.

Looks like he went back to his classic center part bowl cut? Not a bad choice OBJ got him 11 wins and the Giants only playoff appearance in a decade with that haircut everything went to hell when he changed it.

lol! What reason do you speak of?

    I think they like Mills.
Avatar bet that there's no way they go QB at #3?

Now that I've made the pick, I can comment. I think McAdoo was certainly a bad fit for the Giants at that point of Eli's career, but I don't think he deserves all of the negative press that he gets. I suspect at least half of it is simply because he looks like Goober and Gomer's cousin that the family never talks about.

The hard part for me with Carolina was deciding the role-playing aspect of it - whether I'd just follow the leads of published mocks, take the pure BPA etc or if I'd really dive in and make myself the GM. And if I did that, whether I would put myself in the real GM's shoes and do it the way I think he would, go fully by my own principles, combine them in some way, or go with a totally different scenario.

I really don't know his style, and I don't know if he'll fold under pressure knowing the coach isn't likely to be there at the end of the season. But I did my best to put myself in his shoes. With that in mind, he had already traded this year's 2nd and 4th for Sam Darnold, and the team hired McAdoo largely to work with Darnold and fix the mechanical issues in his game.

So... If I drafted a QB, I would then have a rookie QB - which means my coach gets fired around Halloween - plus an unhappy backup that I blew my 2nd and 4th round picks to get. Meanwhile I would have ignored the inflatable flailing arm tube men that the Panthers have for a front line. Carolina hasn't had consistency at LT for seven years. This is a problem no matter who the QB is. If I did go QB, I would be scuttling my own previous plan, throwing my coach under a bus AND ignoring the offensive line. I would deserve to get fired even before the coach.

That nailed it. To use the Heath Ledger line, "the plan is to stick to the plan". The coaching staff thinks they can make it work with Darnold. The best thing I can do is give them a chance (and let them take the heat if it fails) and instead get someone to protect his blind side.

I definitely wasn't expecting the QB to go so soon, which bumped everyone else on the board down a pick. I had figured Neal would be long gone and that xinik would take Ekwonu ahead of me at #5 rather than #7, leaving me to take Bachelor #3 as my new tackle. And I was all set to pull the trigger and do that. But Neal was there, so he's the pick.

The coach is still an endangered species, but I've done my job. I've given them a guy they think is a potential franchise starter for the cost of a 2nd and 4th plus given them the top rated OT on the board.

And now I can get back out of character and start building boards for two other teams...

Lol - there's an ad for a local orthopedic surgeon that comes up for me from time to time.

The guy's ad is designed like a business card. His picture is a small square on the left side of the screen, just like our avatars, and his name/practice abbreviation and location fall right where our messages would go.

So whenever that ad pops up, it looks like it's one of our draft picks.

Always with the"hollywood" angle in the humor. lol!

    I gotta remember that...:max:

For a brief moment, I thought you were serious about some guy named Bachelor who wears #3 and you wanted him as your OT. lol!

I'm okay now though....Another round for me and my friends!

It was to avoid a name drop. "Third choice of OT" then became OT #3 which suggested either Door Number Three or Bachelor #3.

I'm still stunned that I got one of the top two OT choices. I think most Panthers fans would be thrilled if they landed Neal next week.
