I think I might like my draft better than the real one but I’m not complaining. It’s easy to like what they did. My favorite pick might be Michael Carter. He could be the best back in this draft. I like him more than Javonte Williams for certain. That was my toughest decision. I had to decide between Kenny Gainwell and Carter. I think both are going to be great.
As many of you may have already guessed, there is no mock draft this year. Dan and I just haven't had the time to set it up. I may have had the time to run most of it if we could have set it up but that would have been difficult. It wasn't until last week when we actually knew we'd have to skip this year. We were able to suck it up and do it last year under less than ideal circumstances but this year it just wasn't meant to be. We are still planning to continue next offseason. Sorry to disappoint and thanks for your patience.
Okay.... anyone interested in participating in a slightly different mock? I haven't run one since 2009, so I'm overdue...
I'm down... This is the first time in almost 3 years I have slowed down at work slightly. Let me know, I'll participate.
Great start! We might actually be able to pull this off. Just to give everyone an idea of what I have in mind, I've been teasing the idea of a low-key mock with Tim, RT, Lyman and a few others for a couple of years now. Since we don't have another mock, this is the perfect year to try it out. Here are the main principles that I'm putting to the test: (1) no autopicks. We'll have a schedule. If you're late, so be it. The draft will continue with the next teams making their picks, and you make yours when you can. (If a pick is more than a day late, yeah, we might have to take action to fill in the blanks - but I hope that can be avoided.) Of course, everyone is encouraged to leave lists with people you trust to avoid those kinds of issues. But hey, things happen. (2) trades do not have to be approved for fairness. They only have to be verified in terms of making sure the teams actually have the picks/players they are trading. ANYBODY in the mock can do this verification, so there's no need to wait around for someone "official" to approve anything. For example, if the Jets and Seahawks work out a trade, the Seahawks GM can post a message announcing the details of the trade. The Jets GM would then post a reply saying yep, that's the trade, we agree to this. And then anyone else who happens to be around can check to make sure they have the picks/players and post "confirmed". So, if you're on the fence, I'm trying to make it as easy as possible for everyone to have the ability to get on board and participate. If you're interested, please post saying so. If we can get around 12 more participants, we're doing this!
It also occurred to me, you @Torgo may want to start your own thread for this as we kinda highjacked Joe & RT's thread.
Yeah, I was going to do that soon. Started here just to see if there's any interest since this is where Joe announced that the regular mock is taking the year off.
