The Broncos paid for him Russell Wilson Aaron Rodgers got to be mad cause Russell Wilson stole his spotlight as a Vikings fan I'm just laughing
Yeah I'm laughing of this drama he's pretty much a bust come playoff time oh sure the Vikings are 0-4 in SB and the 200 million is just mind blowing and will he a sleep well tonight I know I would the pressure is on to produce SB's wins laughing because for the last few years its the been the Aaron Rodgers show as good as he is just1 SB victory that's why I'm laughing
What do you make of this? More needless drama creation from Princess Tippy Toes, or is there more going on here? That tweet has been up well over 12hours and no one in the media seems to be acknowledging it. We just pretending Erin didnt say it?
I heard wind of this tweet last night. Rodgers just thinks he's funny or some shit... I dont get it or his sense of humor or whatever its purpose may be. I guess we are supposed to guess and be worried/concerned like we care about his future/money, lol. The guy is a nut case and a fruit cake in my opinion. PS - I heard he's not fond of me either.
Per ; PFT Aaron Rodgers‘s penchant for precision in language became obvious last year, when he deliberately obfuscated his vaccination status by saying “yeah, I’ve been immunized” and playing gotcha with reporters who failed to ask a follow-up question premised on the possibility that Rodgers was playing word games regarding whether he’d gotten his shots. He clearly was playing word games. He’s doing it again. His Twitter post announcing his plan to play for the Packers in 2022 quibbles with the notion that he “signed” a new contract, and with the report that it’s a four-year, $200 million deal. “Hey everyone, just wanted to clear some things up; YES I will be playing with the [Packers] next year, however, reports about me signing a contract are inaccurate, as are the supposed terms of the contract I ‘signed.’ I’m very excited to be back,” Rodgers wrote. First of all, no one reported that Rodgers actually “signed” the contract. Ian Rapoport of NFL Media (the first non-McAfee person to report the news) said that Rodgers “agreed to terms.” This means there’s a deal, but that the paperwork has yet to be signed. It’s not uncommon to say that a player has “agreed to terms” before he actually puts pen to paper. So his decision to take issue with the technicality that he hasn’t “signed” is technically inaccurate, because no one said he did. Second, as to the terms of the agreement, there’s often an inaccuracy or two between the initial reports and the official terms. Reported as a four-year, $200 million contract, it’s apparently a four-year, $200 million extension, making it (perhaps) a five-year, $226.47 million contract. Or maybe there’s some other minor issue, a rounding error or whatever. Regardless, Rodgers got paid — and the details eventually will be precisely known. Looking at it more broadly, WHY DOES HE CARE? He’s staying in Green Bay. Surely, he’s not staying without a new contract that reduces his $46.66 million cap number. Why does he have to be “that guy” and take issue with meaningless details? It serves only to confuse Packers fans, who will now wonder whether truly he has agreed to remain with the team beyond 2022, and whether the team has secured any cap relief at all. A cynic would say that Rodgers was simply looking for attention after having his decision to return leapfrogged by the news that the Broncos traded for Russell Wilson, along with the not-so-subtle suggestion that Wilson was Plan A, not Plan B, for Nathaniel Hackett’s new team. Regardless, it’s entirely possible that Rodgers can be both one of the great quarterbacks of all time and extremely petty. His decision to take issue with stupid details about his inevitable new deal with the Packers makes him the GOAT, when it comes to worrying about meaningless details.
Thats good stuff Will. My take fwiw was this was more of the now predictable manufactured drama BS much as the article suggests. But whats interesting is how little the media seems to want to indulge it. GOOD! Don't get me wrong, its great every time Erin voluntarily adds more weight to the unlikeable and egocentric douchebag rep he's built. By all means keep doing that sweetie. I just dont wanna see wall to wall "what does he/this mean, where is it going" coverage all over the media about it. 1- Cos thats exactly what he wants and 2- Its beyond boring.
Man. I like Wilson but five picks and 3 players?! Too much in my book. I don't think the Steelers will get anyone nearly as good as Rodgers or Wilson but I'm happy they aren't throwing draft picks away.
49ers are the one team in a position to move their 2021 starter, and it seems like he is the only one not moving.
I think we may be seeing some of the recent media narratives for what they have been, mainly speculation with little downside if it was/is wrong. The 49ers, Steelers and Browns are probably the easiest teams for writers to simply add a name to the list with, as each of those teams have decisions to make at the most high profile positions. San Francisco is probably not in a rush to deal Jimmy G. Yes, he has all but likely used up his good faith with the coaching staff, but waiting out the off-season to see how much Lance develops might be the smart play. There's no difference in savings for dealing Jimmy either now or at the deadline, so it's a non-factor. Throw in the idea that it gives San Fran some more limited leverage by being able to say "look, if you want him you're going to have to make a hell of an offer because we don't need to move him". The reasons Pittsburgh is tied to all of these deals is pretty simple - Ben retired, Colbert has undoubtedly made calls and a writer can throw their name on any of these articles and it won't warrant a response. Chances are, they were going to always sign a low price veteran to come in and compete for a season while they evaluate Rudolph as a starter and look to see if what he has works with Canada's offense (not the version they ran with Roethlisberger). They could still make a big splash, but I think it's probably going to be a guy like Jacoby Brissett/Marcus Mariota and a rookie taken in the third or later. For the Browns - The media is never going to look away from what goes on with Baker this season and I think it was @SAS that pointed out all of the absurd trades that were being bandied about. Only two scenarios ever made sense to me. The first, the possibility of Stefanski reuniting with Cousins. The second, Derek Carr becoming available if the new coaching staff wanted to start from scratch at passer. However, both of those scenarios needed things to fall a certain direction for it to be a possibility. Basically, the media had built in there talking points all season long when it came to Jimmy, the post-Ben Steelers and Baker's future with the Browns. All they had to do was recycle those three topics anytime they needed to thicken a headline about quarterback movement this spring.
Totally agree... these teams are where a 'story' can be built. In my opinion its old hat and kinda predictable. Media wants clicks/reads and sponsors and commercial hits, it is after-all a business. On the other hand... there is a bit of curious speculation and open spaces for redirect on just not the 3 mentioned teams, but the Vikings, Lions and now the Seahawks, Colts and so forth, that need a long term QB presence that can potentially lead them to the promised land. Off-season yakity-yak... but it is fun to talk about.
I think it gets easy for a reporter to piggy back off an idea when it’s oft repeated, and for guys that are in the business of breaking news it’s a zero risk bet to claim insider information on something everyone is talking about.
Report: Colts Expected to Go After 49ers’ Jimmy Garoppolo After Carson Wentz Trade With Indianapolis reportedly trading quarterback Carson Wentz to the Commanders, the Colts are back in an all-too-familiar position of searching for a new quarterback. According to the NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Colts are expected to target 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo. The 30-year-old, who is expected to be traded this month, underwent right shoulder surgery on Tuesday that will sideline him until the summer. While the surgery is not expected to impact his trade status, if all goes as planned, Garoppolo will begin throwing the football again around July 4 and will be available to work with his new staff if traded. Garoppolo’s cap number is just shy of $27 million. If the Colts were able to strike a deal after clearing Wentz’s contact, it would essentially be a one–for–one situation, according to Stephen Holder of The Athletic. Garoppolo has played in San Francisco for five seasons. The peak of his tenure with the franchise happened during the 2019 season when the 49ers reached the Super Bowl. In that game, he threw one touchdown and two interceptions in a loss to the Chiefs. During the 2021 season, Garoppolo threw for 3,810 yards, 20 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. San Francisco finished 10–7 and lost in the NFC championship game to the eventual Super Bowl champion Rams. SI
Seriously, when will they learn. A mere 12months after seeing the Colts not just get burned, but get flamed trading for Carson Wentz and up steps the What The Fucks, absolutely nailing putting the "What The Fuck" in What The Fuck. Two 3rd's that can bump up to a 2nd & a 3rd depending on escalators? You have got to be shitting me. Please at least tell me the escalator is based on competence in some way. I mean they didnt even get the Colts to eat half the salary haha! Spectacular. Full credit to the Colts, im sure they cant believe quite how they got themselves out of that mess so successfully. They just limbo danced under a 3ft bar. They were moving on from Wentz and everyone knew it, that isnt whats typically known as a strong negotiating position. They put themselves in a crap spot with that bonehead trade for Wentz in the first place, but as damage control goes, they get an A. The Commanders are as stupid as their new name. One thing i hope i dont see in the next few days is the usual weakass justification that "if he pans out it'll be worth the price". NO! Its not about your guess on a player. Your negotiating position relative to the other party and how you manage it is what stops you getting fleeced in trades. Neither party was in a position of such strength to extract a deal this one sided. This should've got done for like a 4th rounder. 3rd max if the Colts were prepared to eat a chunk of money(assuming there wasnt another team that you knew were in for Wentz, i didnt read of any). Witness the effect of desperation. Thats what this was, pure and simple. The WTFs saw two big names go off the market this week and they shat it.
I think that becomes very viable. The Colts is a place he can go and not get shown up as he would in many other offenses/teams. The Colts now have the draft capitol to make that deal.....providing Lynch doesnt get too greedy. That might be a big if. Lynch has a very up and down record in trades imo, it wouldn't surprise me if he overplayed his hand. On the other side, as a buyer the Wentz trade has left Ballard weakened rep wise both outside the building and inside. He knows he needs a QB, but being seen to be greatly overpaying in another QB trade, and after the owner was so publicly critical of the last one, puts him in dangerous territory. Dont forget either, Garropolo doesnt have the pass catchers currently to make it work as their QB imo. He needs more. That needs draft picks. Totally a deal to be done there, wouldn't be surprised if it didnt happen tho.
Barring a trade or a new contract, Kirk Cousins will enter 2022 with the highest cap hit The Falcons have reduced quarterback Matt Ryan‘s record cap hit of $48.66 million. The Packers presumably will chop down quarterback Aaron Rodgers‘s $46.66 million cap number, once a new contract is “signed.” Then, Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins will be the purple-rinded cheese that stands alone, with a one-year cap number of $45.166 million, via spotrac.com. Cousins has shown no inclination to extend his contract. The Vikings thus may be showing some inclination to trade him. That would immediately create $35 million in cap space, by virtue of the dumping of his base salary. The Colts make the most sense, if they’re serious about getting someone better than Jimmy Garoppolo (a/k/a likable Carson Wentz). The Vikings would need to have a strong Plan B, and a trade for Deshaun Watson would be the only true upgrade over Cousins, based on the available options. (Unless Tom Brady would like to play home games in the state where his mother grew up.) It’s a mess for the Vikings in the first year of a new regime. Although coach Kevin O’Connell has praised Cousins, he’s not good enough to refuse to provide cap relief without potential consequences. With him, the Vikings are a fringe playoff team, at best. Without him, they have $35 million to spend on maintaining their middle-of-the-pack mediocre status. Watson, like Cousins, has a salary of $35 million. Watson’s cap number will be, post-Rodgers, second in the league at $40.4 million. But Watson presumably would do a new deal with the Vikings aimed at reducing the number. Unless and until Cousins will, the Vikings should be looking to get rid of him. Frankly. With all due respect. PFT
