There were more points scored by buffallo and kc in the last 2 minutes of the game than jax scored i 16 of thier 17 games lol
Yeah, I have been really jaded with the NFL this year - have watched very little. But hot damn, those were good games. And not all just offensive barnburners. Good stuff.
Their coaches spend considerably less time abandoning their team, fingering girls at bars, kicking players, yelling at coaches they hired, blaming their grandchildren for mistakes, etc. Turns out, helps when you focus on your team and football!
Yeah, I have a problem with a league that facilitates offense, but doesn't allow both teams to get an offensive opportunity. But that's not something I'm going to worry about, and I doubt the league will anytime soon, either. Would've helped if either team was remotely interested in defense during the end of that game.
Epic game ruined and not just because I cheered for the Bills. Both defences had nothing left and it comes down to a coin toss. Also the refs all game were not great as many are saying. They let so many calls go on both sides and some huge obvious ones like holding and illegal picks on the Chiefs when it mattered.
Yeah OT could use some tweaking but its better than the old kick the field goal win the game. Would like to see both teams get a shot if they both go down and score a td then its sudden death. Even if this applies to just playoff OT it would be an improvement IMHO.
Let this sink in, the Chiefs didn't get 1 holding call. How many of their plays were relying on the ball carrier hitting that edge?
I do think the OT must be tweaked... it was not a good way to end that football game, especially a Playoff game. Just play full 10 minute quarters till someone wins it is a possibility. I dont want to see NCAA stuff though. If everybody is gassed, so what... fair is fair and it would boil down to whom is better conditioned.
I totally get the point about OT rules, and jeanquev's general point that you'd rather have under flagging than overflagging. But LOAJoe is right, you cant call nothing. I saw multiple holds in real time and prob missed a bunch others. The picks as well. Totally agree man. All that said, this falls squarely on the Bills D and Leslie Frazier/McDermott specifically. That 13sec drive was a total joke. It wasn't even hard, they just gave them two 20yard plays. The second one in particular was ridiculous. You cant play that off there. You've got a CB on Kelce playing outside leverage with no inside help when the Chiefs have 3 TOs and dont need the boundary. And you're rushing 4 like you're gonna get to Mahomes in time?? All of it, ridiculous. Totally get dlines point about the Bills D, but the defensive play calls on that drive lost them the game, they set the players up to fail. Josh Allen played an incredible game last night. That was his time, he deserved that statement win and his own team robbed him of it. THIS! And the crazy part is i was calling for that in the first half too! They should've done it when there was like 37secs left on the clock. The rationale is easy, you are taking a play away from Mahomes when you do that. They didn't do it and the Chiefs marched down the field and McDermott had a very near miss when the FG was just wide. But the lesson was there, he just didn't learn it. Its an absolute no brainer with 13secs left. You kick a sky ball that lands between the 5-15, it virtually has to be fielded, and that means the Chiefs now have 1 play to get all that yardage. It changes everything. It was utterly ball-less from McDermott and utterly ball-less from Frazier. I remember Frazier's time with the Vikings well, overly conservative ball-less calls were his thing. I want no part of him as Bears HC.
Only thing with that is you do raise the attrition rate making them play out the full quarter. That has big potential knock ons for both injury and fatigue the following week. I just think you have to give each team a possession. Josh Allen did everything he could, he basically won the game with that last pass, then he never touched the ball again and lost. Not right.
I get what everyone is saying on this side of the argument, but there is another side of the coin. The Chiefs had Tyreek Hill receiving the kickoff. Everyone would have been calling them even bigger idiots had they kicked to Hill and he returned it for a TD...
