Personally, I say in all certainty, no. He would have been a first round selection last year and he will be a first round selection this year.
I agree TD, which is why I don't agree with a trade down scenario if the front office also agrees. Playing with fire, if that is a player you believe will help your team win games.
I don't like the trade down idea at this point, but it's early in the process and I reserve the right to change my mind 27 times...
There ya go Irish... Odell Beckham Jr.’s success in Los Angeles is more about fit than the Browns’ shortcomings: Film review
You keep talking about "Top 5" and every time you do I think... Brady? No Rodgers? No Mahomes? No Allen? No Burrow? No Herbert? No Murray? No Stafford? No Prescott? No Wilson? No Jackson? No And then there are about 4 to 5 others that are a definite no for me but you would probably argue. A good Mendoza line might be Cousins. He's not better than Kirk. If he ever gets there then maybe we can start talking about Top 15.
Average size (189lbs), good route runner but not a combat catch guy. Still has question marks against press coverage. Certainly a fine prospect but not a guy I'd take in the first. Ahead of him I have Wilson, Burks, London, Williams, possibly Dotson. If Olave goes 1st round I'd expect him to go late. Just my opinion.
Daniel Jeremiah (NFL Network) released his first mock. He has the 1st rd. WR's coming off the board in this order: Burks (ATL), London (PHI), Wilson (NO), Olave (LV), Williams (KC)...Interestingly, DJ has Cleveland taking Edge Rusher Travon Walker from Georgia at pick 13. Daniel Jeremiah 2022 NFL mock draft 1.0: Kenny Pickett, Malik Willis among 3 QBs taken in Round 1
Are you suggesting we trade the farm for Rodgers or Wilson? Or take a shot at Pickett or Corral or something? I don't see those options as being very realistic for the Browns. I suppose we could go after a guy like the hometown kid Trubisky to compete, but is that really improving the roster? The Browns publicly endorsed Baker already. This is Mayfield's team for at least one more season. Now that everyone is doubting him and questioning his game, I believe a healthy Baker Mayfield will be at his best. So don't count him out just yet. The focus should be on getting him some playmakers at WR.....If things go south again next season, then we can bring on the C.J. Stroud talk.
The only thing that scares me about Olave, is that the common comment you hear over and over about him, from every talking head, is that he is the most "pro-ready" of all the receivers. "Runs the best routes" etc. All the exact same things that were said about the last Ohio State WR that the Browns took in the first round, Brian Robiskie.
Brian Robiskie. 2nd round, 2009. Ive been following these Browns threads... good stuff. This years draft is deep at the WR position... I think 5 or 6 go 1st round in my opinion and you really cant go wrong with any of them... great talents, but there still is the transition to the NFL that is the unknown variable.
I would be exploring my options if I were Berry, just like I believe Baker's camp will likely be doing. As they should. Shuts down all the noise. Doesn't make it 100% true. NFL front offices lie all the time. It's kind of their job. His best is not all that impressive. I think we've seen his ceiling. Only time will tell.
