I don't know how many of you guys know what Obvious Shirts is. Local guy that started this company based off advice he got while sitting in the bleachers at a Cubs game. And he seems like an awesome guy. He just released this... I bought one already. Selling it for $15 was genius.
This is the same company that made T-shirts in memory of JD and then donated all the proceeds to his son's Go Fund Me.
The last Packers OC who got hired was Joe Philbin right? Hard pass on Hackett. Packers greatness is Erin + LaFluer.
Good point. Overall tho there's some better names getting on the list now. What is an Eberflus? I must've missed that one.
While true, Philbin was a McCarthy guy, and McCarthy is an idiot. Hackett came with Lafleur. Don’t know if that distinction matters or not. DC for the colts who’s taken their unit from outhouse to penthouse the past couple of years. Interviewed for a few HC jobs last year.
A little late in responding but, TBH, i really don't know much about either Cook or Adolfo-Mensah. Sorry.
I'm reading a lot about how Jeff Ireland's recent credentials stem from his scouting with New Orleans. While I think his past is a lot more extensive, I want to point out that we already tried that, and we hired a moron.
It bothers me a lot, perhaps unreasonably so, that we are interviewing so many HC candidates. I get they said they don't want to miss on the "great" HC hire, but then why are we interviewing everyone under the sun, do they expect all of these to be the "great" hire? This feels very much like 2015, and we are going to hire 2022 John Fox and whoever becomes GM will have to be stuck with whoever the morons pick until the new "football guy" can correct their mistake. Part of the reason I am not as upset with the lack of a football president is that it can atttract a better GM, and later if they want, they can "inject" a top level president to right the ship if things go wrong. But if we're forging ahead on the HC search without the GM....it just doesn't make sense. It instead will tell GMs: "hey, these idiots owners and Ted no-nothing accountant will be up in your shit".
Yeah, I've had the same concern. I keep seeing HC names pile up, but not GM names. They should've already had 3-5 GM candidates that they felt good about going into this week, then taken formal interviews on all as soon as possible. Hire that guy, and then interview HIS short list. I don't mind them talking to a few HC's ahead of time - that's fair due diligence, gathering information to aid your GM once hired - but spending the majority of your time interviewing HC's before a GM is in place... feels like a poor use of time.
Yes. Also, and i know scouting has nothing to do with cap management, but there's a reason the Saints are in cap hell nearly every year, operationally its cultural. Maybe Ireland was around that enough for it to rub off maybe he wasn't. Its not a risk i need to take given everything else about him. I def believe there can be such a thing as too many candidates, especially with these idiots. I've seen multiple journos the last couple of days talk about this. It seems its a pretty common thing now for teams to hire the HC first and then get the GM after. Gotta be honest, i dont really get that approach unless you plan on hiring a HC with significant management control. But for most HC's that isnt the case. I would prefer they nail the GM hire then take it from there personally *shrugs*
Yeah I have a hard time knowing what to think of these guy behind the guy behind the guy types. That’s what Nagy was in KC. Everyone thought he was the next genius.
On a list of things that bother me about ownership, this isn't one of them. What I suspect will happen is either 1) they will hire a complete moron straight away, or 2) they will try to hire someone who is very competent but proceed to alienate said candidate due to their own folly, i.e. Saban in 04 or Arians in 13, which will then lead to hiring a complete moron, i.e. Nagy. To me Doug Pederson should be the leading option. Proven winner, smart, confident, can make Fields better.
After all of their failures over and over again Teddy and Georgie are the ones running FB operations into the ground yet again.
And didnt he take over and turnaround a problem locker room when he got there too? He's near the top of my list also. Checks a lot of boxes.
Maybe these were discussed earlier in the thread... Does Wolf bring Josh McDaniels as HC? Thoughts on Bills assistant GM Schoen? Does he bring Daboll as HC and possibly Fraizer as DC?
